"Reporters in Chicago are very hesitant to say anything bad about the cops, but let me tell ya, when, when they were picketing City Hall, when the Olympic visiting team was here, yelling daley sucks, daley sucks, I kind of lost, y'know, lost it with the Chicago Police. I think they're a little bit pampered sometimes, they uh, they don't think the rules apply to them and uh, I think a lot of people are beginning to feel that way, too. I'm not talking about the yknow, cops, out there at night, uh, doing the things that need to be done, but just, in general," -Callaway interjects a comment about bending the rules- "yeah, they sure do, they sure do (bend the rules), they're sort of prima donnas in a lot of ways."
We're trying to find the linked interview, but WTTW is a few days behind in putting them up. It's been pointed out that the host isn't Callaway anymore, it's Joel Weisman. That first line beggars the imagination though:

What fucking planet is this asshole from? One word for you asshat - Abbate. You'd be hard pressed to find a single soul with access to a television who hasn't seen that tape half a dozen times. Why don't you cover the fact that this site and others expressed the opinion Abbate should have been fired years ago?

Not only do the rules apply but the rights under the constitution apply also. Especially the 1st Amendment right of free speech and free gathering and the right to picket City Hall on Olympic visit day.
That was constitutionally protected free speech you asshole!. Just like reporters are protected by the constitution, so are citizens when they want to conduct a peaceful protest in a calm lawful manner.

Can we imagine in a major city where a SWAT team is patrolling the nightlife? SWAT on the street in the rush street area? Is crime that bad that heavily aremd officers must patrol the area? The next step is the military. Maybe we should put TRU and MSF in green or black uniforms and carry M-4"s while on patrol? Is this a fed response to crime in a urban city?

He is a classic example of Edward R. Murrow's admonition against believing one's opinion carries more value when heard on TV than when it was just heard at the end of the bar.
They can have all the media days at the academy every day for a year and never really understand what it’s like dealing with the bullshit, terror, and acts by humans that not even wild animals would do to each other. It’s easy to criticize and be an arm chair quarterback when you have no clue how it really is to wear a button.
