Easter Smiles
You have to crack a smile at this stuff:
- CENTRAL GLENDALE — The large furry rabbit walking between Central and Garfield avenues Wednesday was no hallucination, especially for drivers who failed to yield.
For an hour and a half, Glendale Police Officer Tom Broadway donned the eye-catching costume during an enforcement sting aimed at educating motorists to yield for pedestrians walking along unmarked crosswalks.
Police cited 24 motorists on suspicion of failing to yield to Broadway as he walked across Central.
- Des Moines police say two children on an Easter egg hunt have discovered a body at a city park.
Police say two children came across the man's body in a wooded area at Beaverdale Park on Saturday morning. They were among 100 children participating in the park's annual egg hunt.
Police say they don't suspect any foul play, and an autopsy is planned.
The police will be telling these stories for years.

What do you do for a living?
I wear a bunny outfit and hang out with Donnie Darko.
they find hoffa?
Only a guy named 'Broadway' would be out playing 'Harvey' in the middle of the street.
Iowa? Wasn't that the state that prosecuted a chicago police officer for defending himself?
They also sent him to prison.
Blame the judge and states attorney and the teamsters union.
the worse walk for pedestrians is right near 26th and California, to and from the courthouse towards the parking lot. an officer last month got knocked to the ground after a car hit him. luckily, he was okay and the diver was caught after a sgt. going to court got the plate off the goof's car and was tracked down. be careful out there.
......oh go put a carrot in it.
Was the rabbits name Harvey?
What a waste of manpower!
It's the Cadbury bunny!!!
Ok, maybe I'm the asshat here, but aren't u supposed to cross in a crosswalk?
Cars don't have to stop for a UNMRKED crosswalk, do they?
Isn't an unmarked crosswalk, not a crosswalk?
I was under the assumption that traffic had to yield the right of way to pedestrians in a crosswalk. However, this recent proliferation of "state law!" signs and other nonsense has taken stupidity to a new level.
It used to be that if you were crossing, you waited for an opportune time to cross. Eventually traffic would either have a large enough gap, or within a reasonable amount of time, someone would let you cross. I liked this. Now we have these assholes that walk out in between parked cars (rarely even at crosswalks) - DO NOT EVEN LOOK, and then saunter across slow as molasses like they own the world.
I see it like this: I do not drive on your sidewalk, please do not walk in my street. Sometimes our paths cross, and that should be done as expeditiously for both sides. I don't want to wait for you and you don't want to be run over by me, so please show a little courtesy to motorists, and we'll be more than happy to let you cross.
Since the outbreak of idiots stepping out into traffic without looking, then gawking at you when you slam on the brakes, I give crossing pedestrians NOT in a crosswalk absolutely no quarter. Sorry, you did it to yourselves!
I give motorists respect, considering that a car can do considerable damage to me. :)
However, when I cross on green light, walk intersections, some (not all) motorists won't give me the opportunity to cross legally. :(
