LOTS of reports coming in that cars were taken from all over the city and sent to the 015 District to quell an outburst of violence tonight. So far, we're hearing that 4 cars (8 Officers) and a Sergeant were taken all Area 3 Districts along with a few Area 5 Districts:
- SCC something outrageous is happening and we need your help! Seems like a bit of police redistricting in a much more covert manner is taking place. 8 POs and a Sgt from every district in A/3 were sent tonight to guess where??? The land of the non-taxpayer! And maybe some brothers from 016 can verify but I was told at least a handful from home were also sent.
We could have sworn that MSF and TRU were supposed to be covering these "problem" areas. We also heard that foot patrols have started in earnest:
- As of today foot patrol will begin in districts frequented by MFS and TRU. Teams have been ordered to begin foot patrol within an area for a minimum of 5 hours a night, with a trail car to follow. Any in-progress calls outside that box are to be ignored by the teams assigned to foot patrol.
So how are these cops getting to their posts? And ignoring in-progress calls? And pretty much preventing any sort of police-in-force response? This is some truly stupid thinking.

Omg, you've got to be a complete idiot to still be in those units. Who in the world would want to do that. Just go back to a district and get on a watch and at least have the protection of a car. At the very least if shit heats up so much you can get out of there. But foot patrol in the ghetto... you seriously couldn't pay me enough.
016 and 017 will be sending all rapids to 014, 015, or 025 on thurs, fri, and sat nights from 2000-2300 hrs.... another joke because their are hardly any rapids in either district and we have our own problems to deal with on a district level---- but tac teams will stay in districts.... want to solve the problem, have ex po's as call takers at 911 to wade thru the bullshit calls that don't need a police response--- also instruct sgt's to monitor oec assignments given to beat/rapid that should be handled by 311 and have the jobs reassigned---- no more missions, too big of a drain on manpower.... we have plenty of police to handle real calls for service, but they are wasted on bullshit that they should never be dispatched to in the first place...

MSF is in 007 and 011. Day after day after day after day how do I know? Cuz I'm there. Having not had the perks of being in a unit in years past, I can tell you that it's not all that bad, and I'm afforded a little bit of freedom most of the time. But being in the same places night after night gets old.
How many were shot this morning in 007? 10 in two hours?

SCC, you hit the nail on the head, I had no problem going, it was a change of pace (quite the change!!), but what does MSF and TRU do if they don't go to an area where there has been 5 shootings and 3 homicides in 1 day, in an area that's about 6 block long and 4 blocks wide? Kinda makes you wonder, doesn't it.
Foot patrols are a Weis idea. At the CAR meeting a few weeks back he told the 5th district thast they should do them to help their robbery problem.

8 PO's in 4 cars and a Sgt from 019 (total of 5 cars) were sent from 3rd Watch to 015 (1 Apr10)
If the same was sent from each district in A3 that would make 20 cars, 40 PO's and 5 Sgt's.
Did any other districts have to send people to 015 today?
What happened to all the PO's in MSF, TRU, SWAT, Secret Squirrel Units etc?
And this is just early April?
Not to worry however, if necessary, 42 short and jfed can do a hiring blitz and have dozens of newly trained police officers on the streets in less than two years!

The above post is 100% FALSE. Street Sgt's and street officers were sent.
In 019 beat 1910, 1941, 1946, 1905 and 1994 were sent to 015. Not CAPS officers.
FOP was called, as they should be by reps or any PO who observes this.
A couple of years ago cars from many districts were being sent to 011 on 1st watch. W/C's keep secret alternate worksheets. This was going on for almost a month before a rep found out and called FOP.
Do not let this shit pass without notifying the FOP. Everyone out there is the eyes and ears of our union, keep the union officers informed.

025 needs help. We have way too many units that are working 99 on midnights/1st watch.
Sometimes we have 8 to 11 units that work 99, plus the wagon is the beat car (usually 2573 covers as the beat car for 2531 or 2525) plus we have one beat car down.

I work in TRU and yes a couple of officers do write ticket, most however just use it for probable cause. As for ANOV's we write very few, the idea has always been to long form them-to get them off the street. We do Impound cars a lot of them, and yes the city makes money-as do we- but whats wrong with that most are gangers and a ganger without a car is a ganger that cant get far

The tac teams aren't staying in the districts. Two from each district are detailed out for three hours. The violence usually starts after the three hour detail ends and those units are sent back. Just another example how the shitheads work around our schedule.

TRU is spread thin with the afternoon violence teams to head off the problem schools. Then you have people on furlough , iod, mandatory training. It's not like the old days when TRU would saturate the area and lock people up. One bag two bags it didn't matter pookie would see that and would just stay on his porch. 016 and 017 will be sending all rapids to 014, 015, or 025 on thurs, fri, and sat nights from 2000-2300 hrs.... another joke because their are hardly any rapids in either district and we have our own problems to deal with on a district level---- but tac teams will stay in districts.... want to solve the problem, have ex po's as call takers at 911 to wade thru the bullshit calls that don't need a police response--- also instruct sgt's to monitor oec assignments given to beat/rapid that should be handled by 311 and have the jobs reassigned---- no more missions, too big of a drain on manpower.... we have plenty of police to handle real calls for service, but they are wasted on bullshit that they should never be dispatched to in the first place...

But the fine citizens in the South and West sides will call police anyways for bullshit and in order for them to get the police right away they will simply say "my six year old is out of control and he gotta gun", "my next door neighbor threw garbage in my yard and now he is threatening me with a gun", "the guy across the street looked at me real hard he has a gun in his waistband", etc....

SCC, can you do a post explaining to CPD members how important it is for them to get registered to VOTE. I just got a new DL and with my new address I was able to sign up for my new voting place. I just received my new voters card today in the mail. So the process began in 01FEB10 until 03APR10. The process is a little slow, but seriously if we want change in this city, county and state than we NEED TO VOTE to change things.

Two weeks?? Think again. The current recruits will not graduate until July. They must have the best training, art institute, holocaust museum, run to rmemember and other bullshit details. 7 months long in the academy.

To the guys that keep bashing TRU and MSF. Ease up. We get sent to the areas that the Ivory Tower at 35 and Michigan deem important. WE DON'T HAVE A CHOICE. Don't blame the guys and girls in these units. Just like everything else, IT STARTS AT THE TOP DOUCHE BAG!!!!!! For some reason the powers that be feel it necessary to have us patroling the NE corner of 004 while the 006th District is BLOWING UP. I totally agree that MSF and TRU should never be out of 007,008,009,010,011, and 015. But again DUMBASS WE DON'T HAVE A CHOICE!!! Lastly, contrary to popular belief MSF and TRU are not filled entirely by 3 year "Hair Gel" super stars. The majority of these units are filled by men and women that like to work and need or just plain like the ten hour day. I don't understand the hatred towards these coppers who just want to go out and lock someone up as opposed to anwering to a dispatcher all night.
Actually it is your fault, why would any officer go to these units that allow the department to get around the contract. My friend you are the douche bag for going to the unit in the first place.
Absolutely no officer should have went to these bs units because the department will always shit on you in the end. They will use you up and spit you out. Ask the old SOS officers, they all got spit out for total bs politics.
The only way this department will change is if all the officers stick toghether and refuse to be dumped on by the brass. Each and every officer should be in a district. This will force the department to play by the contract rules.
So, do not blame 35th Ivory Tower, you should have never went to the bs unit in the first place. Stop letting the Ivory Tower to deviate from the contract. Each and every officer in these units should all go back to the districts.

Hey hard charging smart guy. Why can't you still be a hard charger and work in the district. Do not get on here and try and excuse your stupid ass for alowing the city to get around the contract and expect people to actually believe that these units are nothing more then a band aid on a bullet wound.
