Police Kill a Killer?

  • A man was shot to death by Chicago police in the Austin neighborhood this morning as he fled the scene of a shooting where a 16-year-old boy was found dead, officials said.

Plainclothes officers were patrolling around Pine Avenue and Huron Street because of "an ongoing gang conflict" when they heard gunshots about 12:45 a.m., the department said in a statement.

The officers saw several people running away, one of them with a gun in his hand, police said. The officers ordered him to stop, but he ran through a gangway and into an alley behind Pine, the department said.

An officer approached the man and ordered him to drop the gun, police said. The man pointed the gun at the officer and the officer fired, striking the man. The department said a gun was recovered.

Officers then returned to where they heard the gunshots and found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound.
If we were of the gambling sort, which we would never ever think of being (that Thursday night poker thing...it's just toothpicks!), we'd say it's better than even money there's a ballistic match from the dead guy's gun to the dead 16-year-old.

April is picking up exactly where March left off. Be safe boys and girls.

OT: J-Fed has done it again. As of today foot patrol will begin in districts frequented by MFS and TRU. Teams have been ordered to begin foot patrol within an area for a minimum of 5 hours a night, with a trail car to follow. Any in-progress calls outside that box are to be ignored by the teams assigned to foot patrol. This is worst than the jump out boys years ago.

November 2009, Lake Effect News filed a freedom of information request with the Chicago Office of Budget and Management inquiring into the expenditures of the Vice Mayor of Chicago, a position currently held by Ald. Bernard L. Stone of the 50th Ward.
Although our original purpose for requesting these expenditures was not fulfilled, the information that Lake Effect News did receive revealed what may be another overlooked fund being used by Chicago aldermen further enrich friends and relatives already being paid for out of their aldermanic expense accounts as well as the city’s “regular payroll” and the recently-revealed Finance committee chair-controlled expense account.
The Vice Mayor of Chicago is an unpaid office established in state law following the death of Mayor Richard J. Daley in office in 1976.

Stone’s employees were the biggest beneficiaries of vice mayoral cash. Alan E. Crown received bi-monthly payments amounting to $73,991 in 2007, $70,943 in 2008, and $65,749 in 2009. Crown is also carried on the regular payroll of as a “legislative aide” at a monthly salary of $6,184 or $74,208 annually.

19th Ward, Ald. Virginia Rugai: A Triple Dip

In addition to paying 19th Ward Democratic Committeeman Matthew J. O’Shea more than $43,000 over 2008 and early 2009 to work for Ald. Virginia Rugai, the Chicago Tribune reported, Rugai paid O’Shea from her separate aldermanic expense account.
An examination of the vice mayor’s fund show O’Shea was paid $23,757 in six payments between Aug. 16, 2008 and Jan. 1, 2009, according to city records. In 2008, O’Shea was paid $13,940 out of the Finance Committee expense account, and $24,451 in 2008 out of Rugai’s aldermanic expense account. Considering funds from all sources known at this time, O’Shea earned $62,149 in 2008. Rugai did not return calls seeking comment.

20th Ward Ald. Willie Cochran: A Triple Dip

On Aug. 18, 2008, Angela Moore was hired by the City Council as an “aldermanic aide” at an annual salary of $30,804. Between Sept. 1, 2008 and Jan. 2, 2009, aldermanic aide Angela Moore was paid $10,696 out of the vice mayor’s expense account in regular, bi-monthly payments. Moore was also paid $2,000 in 2008 out of the aldermanic expense account of Ald. Willie Cochran (20th).

47th Ward, Ald. Eugene Schulter: A Triple Dip

Monica A. Schulter, daughter of Ald. Eugene Schulter (47th), was paid $31,216 out of the vice mayor’s budget in bi-monthly payments between July 1, 2008 and Dec. 1. 2008. According to city records, Monica Schulter is paid $40,368 per year out of the aldermanic staff account as a “staff assistant to the alderman” (Better Government Association Payroll Database). In addition, Monica Schulter was paid $31,614 out of Schulter’s aldermanic expense account I 2008, according to city records obtained by the Chicago Tribune. Considering funds from all known sources, Monica Schulter earned $103,199 in 2008, nearly as much as her duly elected alderman father ($104,100 in 2008). Schulter did not return calls for comment.

49th Ward, Ald. Joe Moore: Triple Dip With Side of Political Funds

Since at least Jan. 2, 2008, Wayne Frazier has worked as an “aldermanic aide” to Ald. Joe Moore (49th) currently earning $36,840 per year (Better Government Association Payroll Database). In 2008, Frazier was paid $33,970 in regular, bi-monthly payments out of the vice mayor budget of Moore’s desk mate on the City Council, Ald. Berny Stone (50th). Frazier was also paid $34,500 in 2008 from Moore’s aldermanic expense account, according to city records obtained by the Chicago Tribune.
Frazier is also an employee of one of Moore’s political action committees, Citizens for Joe Moore (Illinois State Board of Elections Campaign Disclosure). Moore did not return calls for comment.

OFF TOPIC:

It looks like the Coles got the most votes in the Crate & Barrel ultimate wedding contest. It looks like then next nearest couple (the gay guys)got about 500 or so votes less.

Even if they don't place 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place by the judges, they'll at a minimum get a $500.00 gift card for getting the most overall votes.

GOOD LUCK TO THEM. The winners will be selected sometime during the month of April.

Thanks to all who participated and supported the Coles. They got 20,500+ votes.

Now if only we could vote as a bloc to unseat Daley and all the other idiots we would be better off.

And if I was of the gambling sort, which I am not because it is illegal. I would bet that there is a family member, friend or witness to say that he didn't have a gun, that he was a good kid, that he didn't do it, and that the police didn't have to shoot to kill him. They could have shot to injure him.

I heard from Bill Cozzi. Still no word on his appeal. As usual, his last statement is, "MY BODY MAY BE HERE IN THIS ROTTEN STATE BUT MY HEART AND SOUL ARE WITH THE CPD."

Please keep the cards and letters going to him. It only takes a few minutes to write a few lines and drop it in the mail, even if you don't know him.

Thanks.

Hey SCC,

OT. This morning in 004 a Sgt on his way to work noticed a guy taking pictures as he pulled into the lot. The Sgt wrote down the plate and went into the station to get a couple of on duty officers to go with him to check the guy out. By the time they got out the car was gone. They ran the plate and the name came back to a middle eastern name (not that it really matters) in Tinley. An Information Report was done about the incident. Some people may bring it up, maybe mention it somehow so officers can be aware of things around the stations without giving up to much info so whoever the guy taking pictures is doesn't know he was spotted. Maybe he'll show up again somewhere and someone can grab him. Hopefully whoever does the follow-up on this doesnt blow it off.

Hey SCC, please post this video of the incident which occurred in Uptown in which a driver smashed into several police and civilian vehicles.

It also shows GREAT restraint by the CPD in not firing on the car due to the children inside, even though their lives were in danger.

GREAT JOB to the boys and girls in blue

Maybe someone in JTTF will take the initiative and read the report and follow up immediately before a scud missle lands on the 004th District. Then again, maybe not. Don't want to racial profile and assume the worse. Daley would have someones head on a platter if they did any proactive policing.

OT: If only they would do the same for us here in Cook County!

A warrant was issued today for a former Lake County Jail inmate who officials said falsely accused a corrections officer of beating and using a taser gun on him, officials said.

Patrick Anderson, 29, of the 800 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Waukegan, was brought to the jail on March 19 by Waukegan police on charges of felony retail theft and possession of a controlled substance, Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Christopher Thompson said.

On March 23, Anderson was taken to a jail nurse with facial injuries that he said he received when he fell while exercising in his cell, Thompson said.

The next day, Thompson said Anderson told a member of the jail command staff about the abuse allegations, and an investigation was started. Anderson was released on March 29, after posting the required 10 percent of $50,000 bond, he said.

After interviewing witnesses and determining that the officer's taser gun had not been activated on the day Anderson said the incident occurred, investigators determined that the claims were false and approached the Lake County state's attorney's office, which approved a charge of felony disorderly conduct, Thompson said. Bond on the warrant has been set at $100,000, he said.

Remember when you were kids? Your Mom and Dad had rules? like be inside the house at a certain time? For me in the summer it was when the street lights came on (Dad was a Genius, this method did not require a wrist watch) this usually occurred around 8:30ish? This rule gave me a couple of hours of hang out time after dinner (yes we ate dinner together as a family).
Now during the school year my goat smelling ass was in the house by 6PM, no hanging out! It was homework, dinner a little T.V (The F.B.I., or some other cool cop show) by the time Fahey Flynn and Joel Daly were broadcasting the news I was flipping my pillow over to the cool side and maybe a wet dream or two!
I stayed out late once to challenge my Dad's authority... well, I spent the entire summer of 75 indoors! Dad's rules were there to protect me. I was his son and he was ultimately responsible for my well being.
Why would a 16 year old be out at 12:45AM? where are the parents? (we all know the answer to that question). I must say I feel no pity, sorrow for the victim and certainly not for the shooter. The 16 Y/O I'm guessing, was not a model youth? Yesterday's offender, today's victim???
Looks like a fun summer ahead boys and girls, so do like I did, invest in some precious metal. LEAD.

SCC something outrageous is happening and we need your help! Seems like a bit of police redistricting in a much more covert manner is taking place. 8 POs and a Sgt from every district in A/3 were sent tonight to guess where??? The land of the non-taxpayer! And maybe some brothers from 016 can verify but I was told atleast a handful from home were also sent. Now I could give a shit less about having to work in the ghetto; I can do nothing just as easily there as I can anywhere! (atleast until I get my 6%/year raise!) But when manpower is being taken from the homefront to protect the animal, now people it is personal! My property taxes have gone up 300% in the past 3 years! (literally, no exaggeration!) And I can only assume this year will bring about yet another increase. And not only do I NOT get more for my taxes, I AM GETTING LESS! And guess who is getting more? The assholes who do not pay one red cent in property, income or any other fucking tax! The same assholes who pay the least into but take the most out of our system! I was sent to Austin tonight and learned that this is not a union grievance. But I certainly will be on the phone with my Alderman tomorrow AND I URGE EVERYONE TO DO THE SAME!!! This is outrageous! We are being punished because we can actually behave! Because we dont kill one another, we get fucked!? If the Mayor and the loser "reverends" want more police in the ghetto, HIRE MORE FUCKING COPS! It is a shame that we the taxpayers are being stripped of police service that we actually pay for because the ghetto rats cant figure out how to act on the first 80+ day of the year! I am outraged, and anyone who lives in a normal neighborhood should be just as outraged! Our watch usually has anywhere from 25-40 coppers on the street. 9 being redistributed to the ghetto is a quarter of the manpower! Not to mention it creates a very dangerous situation for those left to work the streets. If this is not addressed, I am afraid this is how it will be all summer long...more resources being wasted on the animal while us hardworking tax paying suckers get no return on our investment! Be safe out there boys and girls...it is only going to get worse!

Homicides at irving/central and on pioneer??? Burglaries everywhere??...those are rumors. Also the CPD manpower issue has to be a myth too right???? I mean, just look at how many coppers are in the ghettos, they are bumping into each other. As far as higher taxes, C'mon we need to help out people in need. "Link" society deserves a raise and protection too! Right??

Perhaps, the question is why have some/most (?) northwest-side and southwest-side residents continuously supported Daley II for Cook County State's Attorney (i.e. 1980, 1984 & especially 1988) and Chicago Mayor (i.e. 1989, 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007 & probably 2011).
