Poor Mayor

  • Mayor Richard Daley and his wife saw their income fall for the third straight year in 2009, according to tax returns released Friday.

The Daleys' net income last year was $175,240. That's down from $183,992 in 2008, $238,190 in 2007 and $363,647 in 2006.

Daley took 15 unpaid days off last year. That cut his gross pay by $8,883, about 4 percent of his city-budgeted $216,210 salary, spokeswoman Jacquelyn Heard said. The days off included six furlough days, three government shutdown days and six unpaid holidays.

More stories telling us how bad Shortshanks' Chicago situation is. That arbitrator's decision must be really close now.

Wait, again we're crying poor, yet the new Chief of Security at O'Hare is going to be paid 23% more than Maurer got paid????

Sounds like somebody turning their right hand pocket inside-out to show you they've got no money, while they fondle the roll of bills in their LEFT hand pocket.

Does that include what's under the mattress and the cash-stuffed shoe boxes in his closet?

And what about the blind trust that Patrick Daley and Robert Vanecko set up for him with the million$$$$ stolen from our pension fund and fraudulently obtained in an illegal City sewer contract? (Hey Pat Fitzgerald! How are those indictments coming along?).

Besides, I'm sure his pensions from the Illinois State legislature, The Cook County States Attorney and the City of Chicago Mayor's office AND Social Security will more than tide him over.

P S ~ Watch for the city council to pass a non-repeallable ordinance or law that will GUARANTEE that the Daley/Burke Crime Family will continue to receive, at tax-payers expense, a lifelong, FULL-TIME personal security and manservant detail ! ! !

What a generous soul. He let's his friends and family feed off the city for millions but he touches nary a cent. We should throw a benefit for this prince to make sure that be has enough money in his old age.

What are the income tax ramifications of his job? How much personal use of city cars is charged to his w-2? What city business is he conducting when he is driven with his body guards to his vacation home, relatives homes, and to the movies? How about miles transporting his family? Does he or any of his family own their own car? His w-2 and tax return are not reality. It's good to be king or president.

This is just too much bull shit for us to handle. Just like he took care of Luberman and Monique by moving them to the schools and increasing their pay after giving them furlough days, he does it for himself.

They NEVER take a pay cut. That's for the rest of us.

How's that taxpayer funded security detail doing in Michigan on your "unpaid" days off, Shortshanks? How much does it cost the city to pay them at sergeant's pay, fuel the vehicles and put them up in motels? You want to explain that to the people you thieving piece of shit?

Daley should have done what Huberman did, give himself a 16% raise, then when he takes an 8% cut for the news people he still has an 8% raise! Isn't that easy? Like the half price sale after they doubled the prices. When will they learn how to steal properly!

I hear he went on a rampage at the CFD recruit graduation about the citys really bad financial situation. And told the recruits they should be happy just to have a job working for him and if they wanted raises and ever dreamed of living outside the city they should quit now.

HE'S NOT WORRIED ABOUT LOSING A FEW THOUSAND. THESE STORIES ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY OR FURLOUGH DAYS POOR DALEY IS GIVING UP REALLY AGGRAVATE ME.

It's not about the salary, that's peanuts.

It's about the graft, the power to bend the mighty to your will.

The power to make up for being only five foot four and make strong men tremble.

The power to make presidents, just like daddy did.

The power if you can not have something you can ruin it so no one else will want it.

It Good to be King,
but the Mighty will Fall.

Gasoline
City sticker.
Plates.
Vehicle maintenance.
Vehicle itself.
Insurance.
Personal drivers on call 24/7.
Bodyguard staff.

Concierge service for self and family (p/u dry cleaning, return videos, etc.)

Fancy dinners, nightly, at various City functions.

Political lunches and breakfasts, brunches at 'meetings'.

Vacation travel expenses, hotel and entertainment, several times a year, thanks to various sister city, trade and political junkets.

I'm sure there are more. Basically, he pays for what? Mortgage, maybe? Clothes, and snacks for the house?

If I could bank that much of my salary and still live extremely well, I wouldn't mind if my 'salary' dropped a bit, either.

Daley told reporters that he plans to take 29 unpaid days off this year. We have 24 unpaid furloughs scheduled. Does this mean Daley is going to surprise the non-cop city workers with an additional 5 unpaid days to take in 2010? Geeze -my piddly 64k salary is already down to 56k bc of unpaid, now he wants to bring it down to 54k? Can't wait til there's another police test

I'm not buying it. First of all, he gets a free ride every day to and from work and for personal runs along with free body guards. Hell, he even takes that free ride to his palace in MI along with the body guards. All on the city dime: car, gas, etc. When was the last time Daley pumped gas for himself or does he even know how to??

We just don't know how many millions he is scammin "under the table" that is hidden in safety dep. boxes and buried behind his mom's bungalow.

He sure is hurting. I was at 76k now down to 68k. He eliminated all overtime 20-30k per year. I own a 10 year old and a 14 year old vehicles. My wife also has cancer. I have one daughter in college and the second one will start college in the fall. Applied for college aid and was refused "I make too much money!" I was counting on the overtime for college expenses. But it is the workers causing the city money problems. Not his friends and family members stealing from us. How about all these phony minority vendors that charge the city way over list price. Why cant we go to Best Buy or Menards or a discount store. When I was at a city hall budget meeting and asked about what we pay for some of these items I was told by a city procurement person that" the integrity of the bidding process is more important than what we pay for a item." My reply to him was " so what you are telling me is its more important in how much of a kickback you get or how much of a political donation the king receives." He walked away and wouldn't talk to me anymore. In my 35+ years with the city this is the worst it has ever been.

Try again the new Administration added College funds to Middle income citizens with this health care bill. Also your daughter can stay on your insurance until 25.
I checked it out with our income we will qualify.

New state law says that the employer has to offer health coverage for your children until 26. City says yes but besides the family plan that your already paying for the city wants to charge you almost 500 a month more on top of that.

Here is what a REAL LEADER would do:

Instead of taking the time off without pay, he should stay on the job and actually work those days without pay.

In my business, I'm the first in, and the last to leave (usually).

I'm the one that works through lunch at least 3X a week. Or I'll have a meeting after everyone else's lunch, and bring my lunch to the meeting.

I make the most...and I feel the pain FIRST. That is one of the reasons that some of my people (we're not THAT large) have turned down offers to leave for more money.

Another thing I do is give them the opportunity to take either their wedding anniversary, or their birthday off as an additional paid "holiday".

One guy asked if he could have the day his divorce was finalized off... WTF, it's OK with me.

The other staff KNOW that when we're short-handed due to the additional "holiday", they'll have to buck up.

No one ever complains.

Leadership is A LOT more than telling people what to do.
