Olympic Gift Keeps on Giving
Six Chicago aldermen who traveled to Beijing last summer on a weeklong Olympics fact-finding trip paid for by a Chinatown business group didn't report it on their annual ethics disclosures.
They didn't have to, according to the city's Ethics Board.
And that illustrates the vagueness of standards for elected officials to report such activities with business leaders, one watchdog group says.
And then we have this money making machine:
Chicago's first-round flame-out in the 2016 Olympic sweepstakes was still a boon to 13 six-figure executives -- with one compensation package worth $483,713-a-year plus a housing allowance and monthly cleaning service.
A federal tax filing released Monday shows that Chicago 2016 spent $5.9 million on salaries and benefits in 2009, including $28-a-month health club subsidies for roughly 100 employees.
The parade of six-figure executives was led by Chief Operating Officer David Bolger, with a $483,713-a-year package that includes salary, "retention" bonus and benefits and $7,871 in other compensation.
A bunch of other people got taken for an Olympian ride. Failure pays pretty well in Chicago.

Yesterday I took my spouse to the University of Chicago Hospital and while I waited I walked through Washington Park.
What a difference from a year ago. Garbage is strewn everywhere, there are circulation systems installed throughout the lagoons but none of them work, the washrooms are locked, the reflecting pool in front of the Statute of Time has no water, and no trash containers are present around the Museum of African American History.
It appears that Mayor Daley and the Chicago Park District no longer have any interest in Washington Park!
Bolger...Bolger...haven't I see that name in the comments section before?
And how do we solve this problem? We shove these animals right into the neighborhoods of honest hard working people so they can live there for free and spread they disease!
And yet we cater to them like royalty?
nothing new in democratic socialist central. the fatcats get fatter and the little guy gets the shaft. the bad economy has created a frenzy amoung the big wheels...lets get what we can before the well runs dry.how much /important is public safety? 2%. the taxpayers should march and demand ''change''. not the bologna served up in 2008.
Unfortunately, I could not sleep the night of the Olympics presentations. The Chicago bid was horrid. The film portion of it was wretched, lacked imagination and was like any typical film put out by the City. It was governmental looking as if the producers were not even trying to make it work. Did they think it was a shoe-in or were they just that incompetent? It was so poor that I was embarrassed watching it.
The bid was a waste of time and money.
There is so much pressure to keep all of his buddies rich that he has stopped employing creative and interesting people that generate high quality projects. Perhaps that is his biggest downfall.
yeah, and I have to file that bs. form every year, and face discipline (and a $20 fee) if i don't return it...........
Ethics does not apply to Chicago politicians.
Wait the city council stated they had 500 MILLION in "reserve" for this olympic nightmare where is that money at? Who stole that pile? Could it be the daley criminal machine and the 50 cowards?
Wish that they'd wound up in a chinese prison
"...no trash containers are present around the Museum of African American History."
That's what the ground is for!
"They got people to clean tha up" I was told by a teenager when I asked him why he threw his chip bag to the ground near Division/Austin.

Ethics isn't even defined for Chicago politicians.
Who were the aldermen who accepted the trip to China? No one seems to have named them, and I want to know!
And if your caught hanging out at 26/Cal you're stealing money from the city.
Or go into another district to get coffee because you work in a shit district, you're not doing what you're paid to do, you thief.
And so what if your beat car you use every day has squeaks, rattles, no a/c, and 90,000 miles. Jfled and the command staff need new cars, you don't.
It shows you where their priorities are. Need some more exempt spots filled, no problem, better yet, make some new spots. Hire more patrolmen to fill the beat cars? That's crazy. Who cares if they are in the budget.
Ethics and politician in the same sentence is an oxymoron. No one with ethics is a politician and no politician has any ethics. I think that was an amendment to the constitution.
"nothing new in democratic socialist central. the fatcats get fatter and the little guy gets the shaft."
You need look no further to the political party affiliations these corporate fatcats buck up to there you'll find your answers....
