Times Square Car Bomb
- New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says a suspicious vehicle in Times Square "did indeed contain an explosive device."
A police investigation after a car fire was disrupting traffic, both on the roads and the sidewalks, well into Sunday morning in Times Square.
Officials said there were no injuries in the car fire, but that there was a suspicious package in the vehicle's back seat.
As a precaution, the NYPD Bomb Squad was brought to the scene and used a robot to inspect the package. Sources told CBS 2 HD the robot got up close to the package, but that its inspection was inconclusive. Bomb squad personnel then suited up and went in.
The mayor spoke at a news conference early Sunday along with Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
Kelly says the car contained three propane tanks, consumer-grade fireworks, two filled 5-gallon gasoline containers, and two clocks with batteries, electrical wire and other components. He says a black metal box resembling a gun locker was also recovered.
We're sure everyone will be hearing more about this as the day goes on. Especially after the scare on the El platform yesterday. Someone could be gauging responses. The recent training being offered for special employment hints something is in the works regarding mass transit. Be careful and be aware.

About a year ago this time the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a warning to local law enforcement that military veterans and persons with “right wing” political views should be considered potential terrorists. When this became public many of us who fall into that category we’re greatly offended and certainly one had to wonder what terrorists acts they were suspecting we might commit.
Is it too far fetched to suspect that perhaps the government is starting to manufacture evidence of terrorist plots to justify harassment and intimidation of the political opposition to the President and his party ?
One certainly has to wonder doesn’t one.
Terrorism is still an active and grave threat and now I think we might have more then just radical Muslims as its source.

We have a fantastic police museum here, what do you mean? It is located at 3510 S Michigan and holds some of the finest examples of old and worthless police techniques and strategies. Go there to see a real antique police department try to go kicking and screaming into the 21st century.
I especially like the Fusion Center upstairs. You will witness there some real state of the art in airline reservation systems, real estate listings, online purchasing, email checking, internet browsing and general all around dick pulling.

Yes but I have it on reliable authority that the 10th anniversary certainly won't get here before the 9th anniversary occurs. I have been informed from someone in the know that the 9th anniversary of 9/11 will arrive suddenly at the stroke of midnight, September 11, 2010. Very true. The people who live in these areas are a major source of funding for terrorists through link card fraud, smuggled cigarettes with no tax stamps or counterfeit tax stamps, heroin, etc, and the residents are draining our tax dollars at an unsustainable rate.
