It wasn't a real gas leak, it was Jody visitig at roll call
what a waste of a trip today for court. I guess someone poured gasoline in one of the sewers and the vapors started leaking up through the vents????
Isn't this the building that was set on fire by an electrical closet short a couple of years ago?

as far as I have heard checks will be in hand on the 15th of august, after that the city has to pay interest on the money. so of course expect it on the last possible day

are you serious?? god I hate how many whiners are on this job. Obviously you have no idea what this job was like when we did not have a union. 2 percent a year is not bad. Do you realize that we did not give a damn thing back to the city? we got more for uniform and duty availibility and we dont pay anymore for medical. if we would have gotten 16 percent most of that raise would be gone by cuts in uniform(which they wanted to completly do away with) less duty availibilty and increased medical. I dont go to fop meetings and really dont care who is in charge... the city is gonna get what it wants in most cases. Im not an fop mole or troll or as im sure most of you will reply, "ok greg, or ok donahue" but im just a blue shirt who has been around to truly know how hard it can get. You guys bitching about making almost 80k a year is rediculous. Even if we have to send our kids to private school 70-80k a year for a cop is pretty fkn good. way too many young guys(15 years and less) who think they know it all... way too many loudmouths who spout off without knowing what the hell they are talking about. way too many guys who think they are owed something...especially the guys who dont do a thing. take your raise and be thankful you have a job! you wanna whine about your 2 percent raise then go tell that to the guys laid off by park ridge and the state troopers getting let go in the next few months.... im sure they will really be sympathetic to your sob story of getting a raise...

Off topic...heard a lot about the Burge trial? Seems like you heard more about it before it started than during the trial itself (ie, now).
According to a more than a few people the witnesses just plain suck. Not a lot to write about for the papers that pushed for this.

Yes there was, on the 2nd floor. The officer on the desk said it was very "shocking" when she got zapped by the faulty electric. Gotta love those no bid contracts the city gives out.

SCC, you should feel a great sense of accomplishment and pride. Through your 'insignificant' website, you have managed to move this Gawdawful City and Bonnie Amado to make repairs on significantly jacked up Dept. facilities that have sat in a less-than-secure status for many, many years. The next step would be, WHY has Bonnie been able to hang onto her job for so long, when everyone can see how totally ineffective she has been FOR YEARS?

Not for a long time, the current lists will be scrapped as they have exceeded their anticipated expiration dates. The department is looking to enter the lateral transfer arena. It seems it is less expensive to hire those who have already been hired by another agency, trained and certified. The city is still debating as to whether the lateral transfer will apply to law enforcement outside of the State of Illinois.

Retire already company man. oh I have more then 15 years on.
011, when it was built, the fire dept was there for weeks because they dumped thousands of gallons of gas into the sewers. The story was the contractor but in the ubdergound tanks and never connected them so they would not leak.
