The over/under in Vegas for the upcoming weekend is currently 40 shot, 7 of those dead. That covers 1700 on 02 July (Friday) to 1700 on 05 July (Monday holiday observance) - a 72-hour span.

We say around 50 to 70 shot with 12 to 15 fatalities.
In excess of 100 injured and around 20 killed during the overall holiday revelry/idiocy/stupidity.

Because of our inability to provide protection to our families here in 013, one block from the shootings which occurred during the PR Fest...I am driving my family to Detroit, a suburb of DTW actually, to spend the weekend at the home of a friend and client.
If it hadn't been for the 2-tiered system of "justice" in the CPD, I'd still be on and working with the rest of you...but alas, I can enjoy the 4, count 'em - FOUR, day weekend off.

There should be a post for anyone unfortunate enough to work the Rainbow Beach fireworks show to post stories of the chaos. Would make for some interesting reading. I'm sure the media won't cover any of it.
Tom is calling for a chance of thunderstorms 04 Jul and very hot/humid temps. Taking that into account I'm going to say 51 shot with 4 dead. Two of those shot will be shot by police. In addition, all 4 dead will be good people who were just turning their lives around and applying online for their reverends certification. Eighth grade graduation photos are out and ready for quick media access.

The lake front will be a war zone Saturday night for the fireworks. The north side display is set for the area around Montrose Ave. Watch for a MAJOR disturbance among hispanic gangs there and around "The Hill", as they will be sitting in the sun all day downing burritos and cervezas.
I'd imagine the area around the Taste will go up as well, since the stuttering prick thought it would be soooo smart to stretch what little police manpower we have, across THREE large lake front fireworks viewing locations.

Now they split that show up, evenly they say, north, south and at the Taste. All the news media will be at the Taste show and the gangbangers could kill a dozen at each of the other shows and the public will never hear about it.

Oh how wrong you are. There is no "normal summer mode." July has consistently been the most violent month for years and years.
However, your numbers are pretty consistent with the past 2 years.
Last year (2009) it was 31 shot and 15 dead. Including 7 dead on July 5th once midnight hit and that was a very cool and wet 4th of July.
In 2008 it was 31 shot 5 dead
I'm going with 50-60 shot and 12 to 15 dead. Reason being it is going to be hot and sticky. Couple that with fireworks going on with in (3) different locations which is going to suck police resources out to the lake front. Which will give the fools who stayed home more of an opportunity to shoot each other. And the fireworks will end early. Once the other fools come back home it will be even more out of control. It all spells a recipe for chaos!

Just to be clear, the fireworks displays are on the Sunday the Fourth, NOT on Saturday. And while the fireworks are being shot off in three locations, Montrose, Navy Pier and 63rd st., the entire lakefront will be a good viewing area. 26 miles of lakefront, that's a lot of ground to cover no matter how many cops you have.
The rain for Sunday is only at 20% and the day is expected to be hot and humid. The CPD will be spread very thin for the 3 fireworks venues. The neighborhoods will be all jacked up. I'll give the following as numbers for 1800 on Friday to 1800 on Monday:
- 9-12 dead
- 40-50 shot
- at least 2-3 police shootings
- 18-20 stabbed.

The real weekend will be 14 Aug, airshow, Bulliken. Lack of manpower is going to get people killed. However I will say 8 D.O.A. and 31 shot for this weekend.

The south side show is at 57th st beach, there will be details at 63rd, rainbow and promotory point also, the order is 62 pages long, MSF will have north, navy pier and taste area, TRU will be at all south locations, gang enf, gang intel, narcotics, ocd all on the order, most in uniform or bdus, some in covert capacity, spread among all locatons, as well as all 2nd and 3rd watch tac, the D unit is in on the order as well, in uniform working the subways, el platforms, state police also involved, working LSD and the minute men will be on call to shut expressway ramps in bound if need be ... It will be interesting, and the world will be watching...

Phil thinks the fifty plus shot the other week is the highest Fri-Sun. But Phil could be wrong and suggests you contact the superintendents office to get the correct number.
