Once Again, the Airport
Mayor Daley likes to talk about cutting the city payroll to the bone, eliminating waste and inefficiency.
But you'd never know it by looking at the management flow chart at Chicago's Department of Aviation.
It includes a dizzying array of 49 boxes, each with a title and lucrative salary. Nearly 60 percent of those managers have salaries that top $100,000.
And we thought the CPD and CFD were "top-heavy" with overpaid managers. The airport operates under a different set of rules though, seeing as how much of the graft and corruption is paid for by the airlines themselves, who subsidize the financial end of things by charging passengers a buck or less in fees. If you spread the money out over the millions of people traveling through O'Hare, you can hide an awful lot of six-figure salaries.
It's a wonder the Outfit hasn't set up shop out at the airports. Oh wait....

I saw that article today in the Sun-Times too. I was shocked and amazed with not only the amount of managers but also the salaries they were paid. Then turn a few pages and see that the mayor himself, "King Daley" is in Idaho hob nobbing with the rich people. Again he arranges to be out of town when a possible scandal hits the paper. Go Figure!
A lot of those names at that airport end in vowels! Hmmmm! Can you say syndicate?
This woman was a freakn secretary to an alderman, and somehow that qualifies her to run an airport? Typical Chicago success story-and I don't mean that as a compliment.
I wish the media would stay on stuff like this and hound and hound Daley about it. Daley just ignores any pressure from the media and continues with his dictator-like rule over the city and county. He can do what ever he wants and goes unchallanged. He cries broke, but obviously it's not true. The waste is amazing and the airlines should get on dictator Daley about it. It's sick what he has done to chicago!
Everyone VOTE! then tell at least three other people to VOTE! and this will end.

I guess this explains why the Daley Crime Family will NEVER allow an airport to be built in Peotone. Imagine if every cross-country flight that needed to refuel here, could do so without paying a city and county tax on every gallon of jet fuel they pumped or a per passenger ticket "landing fee". None of the airlines would ever land in the city again!
And just to make sure the airlines (UAL for instance), continue to be part of the whole criminal operation, Daley gives them MILLION$ in tax breaks to relocate their corporate HQ into the Sears Towers instead of DesPlaines, so that, ONCE AGAIN, the Chicago taxpayer is on the hook for all of the corruption. This freakin city sucks and Daley's President in Washington won't let any silly Justice Department investigation end the bleeding, either.
I wish I could just move to Montana or Wyoming or somewhere and just get the hell out of here!

The revelation at the Blago trial two days ago has me wondering if Jesse Jackson Sr. will be calling for a "truth commission" to investigate the raising of campaign funds for politicians?
If he can support so-called "truth commissions" to investigate the police then he should do the same to investigate crooked politicians!

Should have put it in our neighborhood, we never see a police car. And we have noticed an increase in thefts and other problems because we pay the taxes but get no service.

Yep the same one. Know's about as much about running an airport as a monkey does.
I've worked at O'Hare for a long time. What is being done by over a hundred top paid,clout heavy people used to be done by about a dozen and some really dedicated, aviation professionals. To qoute a now retired CPD officer, O'Hare is the worlds busiest second class airport.
O'Hare is quickly sliding even further. Also, besides the millions stolen from the airlines and federal government by city hall, they have blown millions more in federal grants and new oportunities to generate more cash flow for the city. They will not listen to the employees who know what they are doing.
Serious question: do those six-figure scammers at the airport have to take mandatory furlough days?
The Atlanta Airport (world's busiest) has 370 city employees. The airport is run entirely by the city, just like Chicago. The DOA has 1300 employees. Granted, they run two airports, but they still seem "a bit" overstaffed. They should hire somebody to study this situation.

There are indictments waiting for many O'Hare dealings. A couple of aldermen are on the radar along with many others. The only thing holding it up is Obama. When this does surface he will have more egg on his face. Politically this is a sad city, county and state.

Weird thing about the airport: the feds have it set up so that money can't come out of the airport funds. It has to be spent at the airport. Hence, top heavy administration - there' nowhere else to go with the money.
That's the reason privatization of Midway is an excellent idea: profits can then be taken out of the airport, which under the current system, must remain and be spent there and only there.
All the airlines should get together and have a public press conference about the scandals at O'hare. The waste is ABSOLUTELY outrageous! There is no reason at all for all thoes bosses and their high salaries. The reason for them is political and that's it! Maybe this is why Daley just raised the rental car tax, the parking tax and the cab fare tax at O'hare. The media needs to stay on this guy. Keep digging you will find much more.
Also ask him why he let his family and friends borrow from the pension fund and lose millions. Otherwise the pension fund would be fine. Ask him to put the hidden money back.

There are more deputy commissioners than police officers at the airport.
Daley fired all the people who gave out information at the airport, all of them.
Do you think people coming into a major metro airport in a so-called world class city (in price at least) would ever ask questions?
They won't get them answered in Chicago because all those civilian jobs are gone. All those people who knew where every washroom, ATM, mail box, restaurant and airline was located were all laid off, fired, ash canned.
To save money.
But no commissioners or assistant commissioners or deputy assistant commissioners of the Department of Aviation. No, not them, they all have their jobs. They are needed. The people who knew everything and did the work are all standing in line for those wonderful Wal-Mart jobs about now.

If we have Police at the airports, why do we have unarmed security guards out there too?

Hey jagbag. Double-dipping is the term used for collecting TWO PENSIONS from the same pension fund, government, entity, organization or, in this case, the same municipality.
A retiree receiving benefits from one of Chicago's pension funds, is restricted from contributing to another one of Chicago's pension funds and restricted from collecting benefits from another one of Chicago's pension funds.
Get your terms straight. A person retired and collecting benefits from a Chicago pension fund and working as an Aviation Officer is not a double-dipper. He/She will not receive a second pension when they leave the Aviation Officer position.
And God bless the retired police officer working as an Aviation Officer because I would rather seek help from a retired police officer with years of CPD police experience behind him or her than the-boo-foo-alderman's-ignorant-nephew working as an Aviation Police Officer and was never the police.
What you need to loook at is something that atarted under the Washington administration. People working in city hall who are being paid under the police budget line items, but never actually do any work for the police department. Many titles in the police dept. budget pay higher salaries that can be achieved in other departments.They also get the unmarked car that comes with the title.

For the information of the moron who does not know what double dipping means. The retired, partime officers at the airport, fill in when needed. They do not collect a second pension from this job and they get no benifits. The only thing they do is pay into medicare and regular taxes
