A Fourth of July celebration in Elgin turned ugly when a fight among neighbors near the route of the northwest suburb's annual Independence Day Parade resulted in two injuries and four arrests.
The fight started in the 200 block of Douglas Avenue in the northwest suburb about a half hour after the parade began at 10 a.m., Elgin Police Chief Jeffrey Swoboda said.
The chief was leading the parade riding in a police department Jeep and jumped out to respond because "it was half a block in front of me, and I was the closest" police officer to the scene, Swoboda said.
[...] About eight people were involved somehow in the fight, Swoboda said; he ran after and tackled one of the suspects, he said.

What a novel idea, only outside of chicago
007 chaos tonight... as of 0100 hrs there are 4 dead and about 8 others shot between 1530 and 0000hrs. in about a two hour span the big m19 pepper cans were being used on the crowds. cars from all other districts and units requested.. about 10 tazed within one hour or so... just before leaving more chaos was breaking out. some houses were getting shot up, calls of houses being hit with "cocktail bombs" and numerous large fights... west side and east side...quiet, englewood insane.
I gotta say the 4th was a BREEZE! At least at Montrose Harbor. No problems what so ever. No bangers nothing! Small crowd. Not many people at all and the ones that came were the good ones. Whoever the Lt. 2360 was, did a great job and probably kept a lot of the a-holes away. Maybe no one heard of the new fireworks and next year will be worse, but for now great job by all!

What a massive cluster fuck at Navy Pier last night. Dumbest idea ever to have the fireworks in three different locations. They closed the pier last night at 1900 hours as thousands of people were walking to go a watch them there. As a result, everyone just plopped down on surrounding areas around the pier and guess what; there was no where to go to the bathroom for the massive amounts of people. Brilliant, just brilliant!
On top of it all, there were about 5,000 honor roll students with their families from all 50 states that were having a function at the pier. Could you maybe have it another night?
Side note: These were not CPS “fittin to turn my life around honor roll students” either. These students were actually going to go to college and not the college of rocks and blows.

A P.O. in 015 had his life threatened and had to use deadly force. That will always be infinitely more important than ghetto dwellers culling the herd. 007 is a decent place to learn policing, but it gets old by your 3rd or 4th step raise. Good thing he is retired now, he will have the same rights as everyone but the police! Captain Chrissy handling it; will she, the reformed one, have sympathy? The P.O. that was struck went to the hospital. I heard she is not hurt too bad, Thank God.

The Sgts, LTs and Captains, are all too afraid to say anything to M/1 officers about beards, goatees, dreads down to their ass, braids etc. But if you're a m/2 or m/4 and you forgot to shave one day they'll be on you like white on rice! Or a f/2 or f/4 with hair too long (that's not even that long), they'll be all over you.

I don't know this person, but I can tell you that the Sgt. in A/1 Deputy's Office is responsible for turning back CR's many, many times for nonsense! It was Dugan and now its him and has been for awhile now!
