Why They Won't Stop Shooting

Big article in the Sun Times pointing out how a weekend in April of 2008 involving over 40 shootings has resulted in zero prosecutions:
  • This is the story of why they won’t stop shooting in Chicago.

It’s told by the wounded, the accused and the officers who were on the street during a weekend in April 2008 when 40 people were shot, seven fatally.

Two years later, the grim reality is this: Nearly all of the shooters from that weekend have escaped charges.

We'll spare you the anticipation and let you know exactly who's to blame - according to one of the honor-roll altar boys who got hisself shotified:
  • Gamble also said authorities should have done a better job of investigating, putting together a stronger case and getting their facts straight since a judge might not believe a guy like him.
The "guy like him" has an extensive rap sheet and a history of not cooperating with the police, but of course, it's our fault he's out there slinging dope and rubbing elbows with other "pillars of society."

And it's funny how we've been sounding the alarm (along with our readers) about the clearance rate and manpower issues for the past few years, but until some shitheads with rap sheets miles long start mouthing off about how the authorities should have done a better job protecting them from their dumbass lifestyle choices, the Sun Times is finally seeing the light? What a bunch of asshats.

The press should include among the culprits for the decline are the activities of Loevy & Loevy law firm and that of the People's Law Office. They have many detectives concerned that they will be the subject of litigation years down the road.

The press should realize that the offenders never admit that they are guilty once they reach prison and they have a great deal of time to converse, conspire and agree upon reasons why they should be released and receive large amounts of money from the City in compensation.

Motherf__ers too busy making up lists of plastic BB guns and rusty old derringers made 100 years ago for which ammo no longer even exists to do a job a work, get some plates on and go after some really dangerous multiple-violent-felony wild-ass street bonobo with an AK and three pistols in a hot car. Someone might get hurt. Easier to clean out responsible people's gun safes.

The word "contemptible" is so inadequate...

"Operation Exile" is a crock of s__t, too. I don't care about the scary billboards in "high-crime" areas here. Those people can't read anyway -- any more than they can read the "ShAkEn BaBy sHaTtErS LiVeS!" billboards on CTA buses that make me laugh my head off. Only people who get sent up federal are the ones who get caught in downstate counties with their kid's .22 on a camping trip, when the prosecutors are having a slow day between meth labs and want a story in the paper.

Chicago is a shit hole. Nothing will change. Elected officials run everything in field of criminality, from the Mayor and Council members who control the police, to the State's Attorney who must statistically look successful with prosecutions, to the judges who are elected, but are beholden to the politicians to even get slated on the ballot.

While people like to say that the U.S. has the best legal system in the world, those people are undoubtedly lawyers. The entire system was designed by them, for them, and is controlled, operated and continually adjusted for their benefit. And it's all about the money!

How many times in court have you seen 20 or 30 shitheads being released by the judge but the ONE goof with a job who THOUGHT he had to post a cash bond, gets a lecture from the judge about how SERIOUS his arrest is and how IF FOUND GUILTY he could go to prison for ___ years, and you SHOULD consult an attorney, just so a lawyer will get the bond money turned over to HIM instead of the arrestee. The judge would have cut him loose anyway, but of course, there's no payoff that way.

Then there's the whole problem of trying to catch these lawyer/politicians committing crimes. The governing bodies around here have conveniently insulated themselves from prying eyes by choosing NOT to allow the authorities to even investigate wrongdoing on their part. This means that ONLY the Federal governments' U.S. Dept. of Justice can do it. But with all the BS politics going on and the "plausible deniability" that the mayor wraps himself in, what are the chances they'll get charged or convicted in a court of law?

Cops and Detectives who SINCERELY want to do their jobs are continually frustrated by politicians, prosecutors and judges who are afraid to do theirs. If this is the best legal system in the world, this planet is f*cked!

I work in Area One and we all have serious concerns relating to the trial lawyers, who represent individuals convicted years ago.

Obtaining confessions, evidence to convict and finding witnesses has always been difficult and many of the witnesses are friends and relatives of the offenders. They tesify against them and then return to their neighborhood where they are subject to pleas and intimidation to recant and soon many do.

The offenders always claim that their confessions have been coerced and are false.

The SAO and the Attorney General find evidencee relating to the above problems but rather than asking for indictments for those who are responsible for the false claims sweep them under the table.

If a convicted offender is released then he demands a pardon and once he receives it he files a law suit.

The trial lawyers do not care aboput justice they only care about making money and they encourage subordination of perjury and the only ones who pay are the taxpayers and recently the City is pushing punitive damages off on the detectives.

If this practice continues the anemic clear-up rate will be even lower than the pathetic rate it currently is and the inner city will the area to suffer!

If you are a civilian, read these comments again. We catch them, the lawyers represent them to their friends on the bench, judges that used to be trial lawyers, and the judges let them go. There is no penalty for shooting people.

There is NO PENALTY for being a corrupt lawyer that suborns perjury. They teach their clients how to lie in court to get out of their case. Later these same lawyers encourage criminals how to lie in a civil trial and steal money from the taxpayers and the Officers that locked up their poor client who murdered someone. When is the last time you heard about a lawyer getting caught? Think lawyers are all good guys? Other lawyers are the ones watching the lawyers. Do you think that works?

Law schools have been churning out sharks for decades that have one goal: to make money. That money has to come from somewhere, guess where?

I'm right with ya, pal. I grew up on the North side in a lily white neighborhood in the 50's and 60's and never had an actual conversation with a negro (that was the acceptable term back then) until high school. But even then, at Lane Tech, the vast majority of black students were eyeglass wearing, pocket pencil protector adorned geeks.

When I entered the CPD in the mid 70's, I spent my first year in Cabrini-Green (back when it was a killing field). I was in culture shock for a year or so. I watched "those" people shoot, stab and kill each other over a dice game or a girlfriend or "disrespectin a brutha".

The media was around often, as the Trib and Times and most electronic media were HQ'd in the area. In fact, they loved doing ghetto stories with Cabrini in the background just so they wouldn't have to travel AND they knew that most of their viewers wouldn't know the difference anyway.

The long gone Henrotin Hospital ER also hosted many a media story as it was the receiving point for almost all of the human carnage emanating from Cabrini. It was there that I learned that the media cared very little about the "truth". They would skew any story to segue into whatever their REAL agenda might be that day. Cops know that, but are prohibited by Dept regulations from saying it.

This is why an Anonymous blog like SCC is so vital to the truth getting out there!

Mary Powers of "Citizen's Alert" lives in Winnetka and she is also partly responsible for the de-balling of the CPD over the past 25years. She doesn't have to live in the shit she and others of her ilk created. She (Powers) must be the bestest buddy of all those Conservative Republicans up there.

Carol Marin lives in Palatine, far away from this crap. Neil Steinberg lives in Northbrook. Mark Brown in Oak Park. Many of the other media police critics don't live anywhere near where this crap happens. Most of them live way far away, only the junior reporters live in the city, the only place they could afford.

At least Mary Mitchell lives in a shithole town, Maywood.

Sending Officer Cozzi to prison had as much to do with the slowdown of police work as anything. Watching Cozzi going to prison for slapping someone was enough of a message for me never to dare make an arrest again except on signed complaints, shoplifting etc.

Then weis had the nerve to proclaim he had our backs! That is truly laughable. Now I would need my bill of rights in writing listing indemnification guarantees plus punitive damage guarantees before I do anything on this job.

weis singlehandedly eased the overcrowding problem at Cook County Jail.

Plain & Simple, we have NO leaders.

I met a fine example of leadership on Friday at the Illinois State FOP Conference in Rock Island.

COL Danny R. McKnight, U.S. Army (Ret.) spoke to the conference attendees (all PO's & FOP Reps from across the state) for a little more than two hours.

Col. McKnight was a Lt. Col. commanding a US Army Ranger Battalion in 1993 when he was sent to Somalia with little more than a company of Rangers in what came to be known as the Battle of Mogadishu, the Blackhawk Down action.

Lt. Col. McKnight commanded the humvee column that came under heavy fire in the streets Mogadishu.

It was an inspiration to listen to a proven leader, a self described non-politically correct veteran.

We could use a bus load like him here. Things would shape up damn quick with some leaders like that. Unfortunately all we have are pukes like weis, masters, o'keefe etc.

Stay safe and take care of each other for the leaders of the CPD won't do it.

Do a Google search on Danny McKnight for more info on this fine American soldier.

There was a memo from Kirby about this? ANyone see it? It said that PO's and Det's could now take handwrittens themselves w/o the ASA ... and something about the "best evidence" rule.

It did not mention Lenihan and Farley but I think that's why it came out.

To the poster who posted about Ed Farley and Bob Lenihan, you are on spot. Bob Lenihan who is a dear friend was an amazing Detective. Helping in solving the serial killer on the Southside who was killing whore's and posing them in buildings to be found. Always working good cases and going to the enth level of police work. He went to South Africa to work with the South African Police about sex crimes to help them out. He was featured along with his Sgt on America's Most Wanted TV show while he and his team were investigating the serial killer crimes. Bob was truly an altar boy, and almost a priest, and was a teacher before he took this job. He is a family man and family to me, and one of my dearest friends.

Railroaded is an UNDERSTATEMENT to what happened to him and Farley. Bob retired over 2 years ago, now sued in civil court for over a million a piece!!!!!! If there is any detective I ever met who was on top of his game it was Bob. Every I dotted and every t crossed.

Bob has suffered enough, his son an 010 District Officer killed in a traffic crash coming home from work. Another family member now on the job wearing Bobby Jr's old star proudly.

I understand there is an appeal in the works. Lets hope that makes this travesty RIGHT!

Bob is noble, honorable and a great person. If this can happen to him, this can happen to anyone. Watch your backs boys and girls. This is just the beginning.

While not "politically correct", he is essentially just CORRECT. I'll take just correct over politically correct any day. Politically correct is another way of saying 'let's lie so we don't hurt any one's feeling. It's what politicians do and it is why the world is a mess.

Who should we hang first, politicians or lawyers. Tough choice.

The Detective RA works with Ray and Masters..Never cleared a case on her own and always disappeared if some real work had to be done. Police/Detective Impersonator..

Paper jumper supreme.

Must be the (organ)izational skills.

Both of you are right on about to detective RA....... She is the reincarnation of Aunt Bea. From bartender/copbunny at Dugans to SOS being wet behind the ears and a few other spots. "sucking" up would be an too nice a word to how she got her clout. Take home car in SOS, so she could "work" on the "run to remember" etc... etc... There are many from SOS that still spit when her name is mentioned. Mine included. A little striped birdy that worked with her on the "detail unit", hence honors funerals had the same take that I did. He said he
couldn't get rid of her, that she reported DIRECTLY to the Super....... I guess those clear thongs that hung out of her ass crack while she was working CD at SOS leaning over the desk "paid off". She makes every single female on this Department look bad and gives us a bad name. Just saying......

Jon Loevy in all probability resides in Winnetka and does not care about the City. He only cares about his bottom line.

7/25/2010 06:04:00 AM

Nah. He resides in Shitcago in Roscoe Village or down on the Gold Coast or in the "regentrified" area by Cabrini Green. Check him out on Zabasearch.com! ARDC records have him listed as Jonathan I. Loevy, not just his cute little "Jon Loevy" name as listed on his law firm's website.

I never before saw the media for what it is until I started reading this blog. I'm honest. I always assumed everyone other than a criminal is on the up and up too. Seeing the way they skew stories. It's just so obvious there are other machinations at work. Political of course.

---not a cop

And just wait until you're involved in something that is reported on the news. Then you'll see how skewed it REALLY is. (And it doesn't have to be a bad thing -- they skew "feel-good" stories, too.)

-- Been there.

Don't hold your breath for Bob Sirott,

he's a liberal asshat, for years and years.

he just threw coppers a bone to get 11,000 viewers to sign on while he took Anna Davlantes place on Fox.
