Another Multiple Shooting?

Three more shot, but remember, it only counts as one:
  • Three people, including a 16-year-old girl who was seriously injured, were shot in Marquette Park tonight, authorities said.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in the park on Kedzie Avenue just south of 67th Street about 8:45 p.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs...
And so far, the media has missed the opportunity to ask, "How many people went to bed with more bullet holes than they started with?" We did see one figure that said Chicago had over 1,000 people shot this year - that's over four shot a day.

That seems low, but any number this city comes up with is going to be suspect.

And that's not all! A 50-year-old man was shot in the back and there was a shooting on 65th and Damen, where shots were fired at officers, that has yet to be reported by mainstream media.

This city has gone to hell!

Did any of the five-year-wonders in the Policy Group even bother to check to see whether or not the new crime computer was plugged-in before they left the office for the weekend?

They only count RD numbers, not the number of people shot. If someone gets shot in a robbery then it's a robbery and not an aggravated battery. They kill crime it is a joke.

Yea, counted as one...... But the public ain't as stupid as government think they are - multiply hits but counted as one.... trying to make them believe that the numbers trump the perception.... 1 incident counted vs mutiply hits...

This is the wimpiest media Chicago has ever seen. They are parrots on the arms of Daley/Weis et al. Pathetic. It's like reporters have no idea how to report any higher than the level of Sesame Street. Except on Sesame Street the kiddies know how to count from 1 to 10. When is the public going to start gagging on blank stare media droning?

IUCR stands for Illinois UNIFORM CRIME REPORTING. Thats how it's been for a LONG time. Now if that guy dies in the robbery/shooting, it's a homicide. The heirarchy of crime reporting. Don't they teach that at the academy anymore? It's so crime can be compared UNIFORMLY around the county.

It,s not the same Marquette Park that we remember as a kid.........Its not the same Marquette Park area that we remember either. I am a senior citizen born and raised in this area and raised my kids here also. One evening, many years ago, we noticed a car park on the end of the block, The passsenger, who appeared to be in his mid twenties, got out and started to walk up and down the hlock. We kinda figured out what he was up to. My one son, who also was in his mid twenties, went out and approached the individual and told him "not here, not on my block buddy". The individual got back into his car and left. Now, what does that tell you?

here's how it's counted:
One incident of homicide with
two Victims. Look at your field reporting manual.

Actually haven't you read any of Joseph Waumbaugh's fiction?

It's not a homicide. It's a dual suicide.

"Killing crime" is an appropriate term. Pretend all is well.

Only Slightly off topic. I was just forced to endure a 4hr class on UCR (Unified Crime Reporting). I was only slightly surpirxed when I found out that with this new URC system that took effect in 2010, the stats will mean absolutely nothing. An example is the fact that if you have one bad guy shoots 4 victims at the same time, that is only on agg batt or homicide. If one bad guy breaks into 15 hotel rooms, that is one theft (not even a burglary), likewise, if 6 cars get broken into on the same night, even though they occur on 3 separate blocks, that is only one theft (again, cars aren't burglaries). There is NO WAY anyone can trust these figures. The old UCR was bad, this new one is a train wreck. The govt will use these new stats to try and sell the country/city/state that crime is down and we don't need additional police on the street. If the media would put this out the public would scream bloddy murder...
