Once again, different standards:
- While POs sweat and deal with the BS, the women of tactical training and KB Unit 111 will be off and doing swat type training on sat. Imagine that No slips no time off. BTW What is KB's DOG?
Training? On a Saturday? After canceling all time due, previously approved Personal Days and BFD's, even furlough extensions, the Department is going ahead with an optional training day?
We can recall more than a few instances of training being canceled for important events and manpower intensive situations. Hell, you're required to have uniforms and duty gear available at any training in case a situation arises. But we really can't recall optional training being run on a day they canceled everyone else's time off.
UPDATE: The WTA decided to take their site private on Sunday and require registration. We can't imagine it would have anything to do with comparing their event dates and such with actual A&A sheets that might show certain "discrepancies" or favoritism to members of the policy group.

The best part is all that WTA training is being paid for with Federal Grant money. That's not a rumor, that's a fact. As a matter of fact, as of 6 months ago the WTA was the only recognized organization getting money from the dept. GO to the WTa website and you can see them driving dept. cars around the Blackwater compound in Carroll IL.

About three months ago I put in a slip so I could take my son Remington out paint balling. After that I was going to drop him back off at his mother's, then go hit the pubs in Mt. Greenwood to go whale hunting. After it was announced that all time due was denied I got my collection of 1,875,004,889 honorables, put on some knee pads, then went to plead with my tactical Lieutenant. Still, no luck.
So now you mean to tell me that this parody of a unit/tact team gets the day off while everyone else has to suffer?! (Excuse me, not day off, I meant training. Right, just like the time the Commander gave me Christmas off because I told him I was invited to go to Quantico to give a special guest lecture on GAYLORDS.)
As awe-inspiring and inspirational as the FTA recruitment posters were with the lipstick bullets on them, I call bullshit! This is not only unfair to gang and tactical warriors, it's unfair for those guys in tactical training, that wear blue shirts and answer 911 calls!

Yet all three Lt.s that were scheduled for IRTB training at New Mexico Tech had their training cancelled due to manpower reasons this summer. This is training that is paid for by Homeland Security and all of us should go to. In fact numerous P.O. s have been yet we are SO SHORT of manpower that the department could not send three Lt. BTW they were not going all at once but one at a time for five days each. Probably they were not merit picks.
The department will let anybody who wants to spend their own money on training go on company time. All it takes is a to-from going up the chain.
I thought it was elective time canceled not RDO's. The policy group is off Sat/Sun. They are exempt from working details that the rest of HQ officers work because they have important jobs so don't be jealous!

I cannot believe female bashing is still going on. I came on in '80 -and retired in 05. Yes, physical standards are different for women - we can't bench press the same weight, generally don't have the testosterone to allow us to jump higher and run faster. It amazes me this female bashing is still going on. No guys have ever gotten sweet spots in all these years (side job carpentry or house painting for free for bosses)? And here's an FYI - the height requirement was not changed because of the females, it was changed long before that because of Latino men. God bless all of you - but for some - GROW UP!

Oh boy.......... I believe the POWER test should be equal also..... Criminals dont run slower, punch softer, climb shorter fences if your a different sex. The job is equally demanding. If you cant perform, you shouldnt jeopardize yourself or others. Whats next, larger targets at the range? More time to shoot? Its not because of your sex, its can you pass a test and be equally prepared. If a male can't, its the same rule. Train harder or move over. NOTHING IS GIVEN!

I went to a college back east in the early 80's. A peace group protested at a ROTC family day. On Monday, everyone who was part of ROTC joined the peace group. Peace group disintergrated after several months and ROTC is still there.

Simple fact hun...Once upon a time, this department once survived as an all male department. This department could never survive being an all female department. Hmmmm...I wonder why that is?
Karen, Bridg, and the rest of the Policy Group are Sat/Sun off...even though they work at HQ.
Their unit and other 5th floor units were deemed to be more important than others. So any training on Saturday is her own time.
I would look more into the training they do on weekdays. There have been a ton of times they are in their BDU's and left HQ for training on weekdays.

Really? Your RDO was cancelled? That's funny because I saw the fax and it stated that all ELECTED time off was cancelled. The only ones that were not cancelled were RDO's and furlo's days falling within the furlo segment.
The only way I can see an RDO being cancelled would be if you worked inside and cried about never getting any O.T.
And as for women on the job, maybe you should slap some sense into the majority of your sisters. You know the ones.......they are the ones who get to work 2nd watch as furlo relief but when it comes time to go back to 3rd or 1st, they line up outside the Commanders officer all screaming the war cry "BUT WE HAVE FAMILIES, YOU HAVE TO KEEP US ON DAYS"!

I agree with you. Having kids seems to entitle certain females with inside 2nd watch jobs to care for their children. I understand the concept of courtesies but some females use this excuse for every detail and possible overtime. Take your turn with details so others are not penalized. Why do they make others carry the load?

Having kids IS a legitimate excuse especially working the long hours many officers and detectives work. So lay off all the Mom's out there.

That PC bullshit isn't gonna fly when a wounded officer needs to be carried out of a building. Yes, we know that women aren't designed to be a strong as men, that's the point. Not everything in life is equal or fair for that matter.
I know of many capable female cops. I know of many ineffective male officers.
What I am upset about is that I see more women asking bosses for understanding about their home/family situations AND being accommodated while male officers in the nearly identical situation are being ignored.
I am a female officer and I take my hat off to a male cop who was forced to raise his daughters as a single dad. When he asked to be considered for days so that single parenting would workout better for his kids, he was promptly ignored and dumped to midnights. I felt so sorry for him, but the female officer who took his spot had a husband and grandparents around.
This is an embarrassment for me as a female officer. No wonder we seem not to get the full respect we deserve when so many of my fellow female officers do not want to work to earn that respect from other cops, but just want to choose a lazy way out, or dare I say, a cowardly way out. I lost all respect for that officer who took that spot. You know who you are, too.

The best part is all that WTA training is being paid for with Federal Grant money. That's not a rumor, that's a fact. As a matter of fact, as of 6 months ago the WTA was the only recognized organization getting money from the dept. GO to the WTa website and you can see them driving dept. cars around the Blackwater compound in Carroll IL.

they aren't training on their personal time, hence the Code 049. they also aren't RDO since everyone at HQ is supposed to be either Fri/Sat or Sun/Mon and if they're code 049, they're on-duty today.

I agree with you. Bosses seem to favor females over males. Female officers are very effective on the street. But a percentage of females take full advantage of child care and demand everything even if they have other options. They act as if this is there right to have anything they want. Then they cry over every detail or any changes in assignment.
With Goldsmith gone, J-Fled will need a new driver. How about K-B, Miss Special Ops herself. I can just picture the 2 of them driving threw shit holes like 007 and 011.

I'm all about allowing women equal opportunities, and I have no problem with programs such as the WTA (Unless you're doing the training only to be assigned at HQ, CAPS, Desk, etc; etc). But, I agree that the blatant catering of many women with kids in this department is B.S. 2nd watch in 009 for example is loaded with "kiss ass" women with kids (who I also feel are scared to be on the street) who basically took this job to be an overpaid secretary. I know of only two female P.O.'s I graduated from the academy with 10 yrs ago who still actually work the street (one of which has 3 kids & I have much respect for). The rest are all house mouses (and have been for years). One female I graduated with has been on days since day one, and a house mouse since about 2yrs on the job. If women want to be the police, then start being the police. Stop kissing bosses asses to get special treatment due to having kids. Male officers have kids & families too. Do the job you signed up to do, don't be an overpaid secretary.

I don't give a rats ass how great you shoot or how many push-ups you do in training, It means shit until I radio a 10-1 and your the first car on scene (If you even listen to a radio anymore) you can make the difference in saving my life or a trip to the ER by willing to fight off the person(s) kicking my ass.

Crying is not only allowed in the WTA, it is their most effective tactic.
This might be a dumb question but what are they training for? Armageddon? They've been training fir a couple years. Sounds cool and all but they aren't using this training to fought crime in Chicago? What is it for? For their careers elsewhere? I'm confused.

KB is using the WTA to pump up her resume and use it to get free training on the clock. She has had aspirations of being on SWAT ever since she got around Ray on the Policy group. Too bad she has such little experience as a police officer on the street. Kind of like the house mouse 35th St sergeant chosen for SWAT, good guy but definitely not SWAT material. But when KB does finally "tryout" for SWAT all of that will be covered by the TV show who she has arranged to document her efforts. Realistically all the show has to to do is point the camera at Ray to show how she will get on SWAT. But it appears that now that Ray wants SWAT back and all the people who got rid of him for all his BS in the past are gone, it will and has turned back to the old HBT way of getting on. Phone calls and favors. It has already started with Ray's "tryout." Promises made to a certain SWAT training sergeant who can't seem to ever pass the fitness test due to bad knees, yet is still on SWAT, can't go on call-outs or jobs, but still on SWAT. Don't forget Ray's old partner in crime, or rather the High Risk Entry team, Louie. What did Ray promise you LM? The progress SWAT made in the past in making it a legitimate selection process just took a huge step backward with Ray coming back and the total changing of the rules and procedures to allow Ray to even tryout again. Don't forget Ak taking one of the sergeant's to various SWAT schools across the nation using department equipment. I'm sure that had nothing to do with him being "selected", right AK? The SWAT training unit should be ashamed of themselves for allowing what was becoming a good unit to slide back into the old BS of the "phone call." I know two have left the training unit because of the absolute BS of the "selection" of the SWAT sergeants. Two guys with integrity and a spine out of all the trainers? But if this is what you want to turn SWAT back into AK, MM, LM then go right ahead. When Ray makes Lt and takes over SWAT, or gets an even better spot and forgets all about what he promised you guys, you will get what you deserve. But don't be surprised when you find that knife sticking out your back as Ray sweeps past you with his SWAT Barbie doll KB in tow. SWAT was becoming a great place to work, but hypocrites like AK and LM are making it a sinkhole for morale. People want to leave but aren't being allowed by ADS G. But it is all legitimate, just ask AK, mister "shut up and train!" Um, I can't train or go on jobs but you do as I say not as I do.

You can probably run further, run faster and do more jumpingjacks, too... however, I bet if I were so inclined, I could kick your ass up around your pretty little ears, which is all that counts in the job.

Exactly, Ive been a single father of three for 9 years. I don't make child excuses. I have either took time if their was an emergency (very rarely) or made arrangements for child care!

No way! I'm a female in excellent physical shape, military, and do pull-ups regularly, and no way can I do 38 REAL pull-ups in under a minute. & I'm only 5'2, 109lbs so not much weight to pull up. Push ups - yes, you're clear on that count. But stop the BS.

Karen, Bridg, and the rest of the Policy Group are Sat/Sun off...even though they work at HQ.
Their unit and other 5th floor units were deemed to be more important than others. So any training on Saturday is her own time.
I would look more into the training they do on weekdays. There have been a ton of times they are in their BDU's and left HQ for training on weekdays.

This ^. The purpose of the 'seasonal deployment' is to make sure HQ personnel are available to work one weekend day. This frees up 'extra' bodies that can be sent every Sat or Sun to assorted parades/events as needed. The policy dollies are exempt from this, as they are also exempt from having to participate in the OPY one week per quarter street deployment. They are exempt from this because they are deemed 'too important' at HQ to miss either Fri or Mon. They need to be there 5 days a week becuase they are, to quote KB's WTA site "writing policy" for the dept or "advising the Superintendent" and the Chief of Staff.
Yet these women, and the sgt, are routinely off during the week participating in all kinds of training. What's more, much of this training is hosted by the WTA, which they are pres and v.p. of. So, these dollies are running a group that creates training classes and invites trainers, then they turn and get code 49 for the classes that they create and attend. Nice, huh?
Still, I need it explained to me why they are so important they dont have to work the streets like everyone else, but they are allowed to miss those days they are supposed to be in HQ to attend assorted tactical training classes, which they dont use behind their desks.

Just sign up with your dept e-mail if they don't allow you to join then they will lose their dept recognition and not be allowed use of dept facilities, bulletin boards, etc. But the catch is you have to report it via to-from to the Sup. (per general order).

I remember the 1st day in the academy being told that having kids will not be an excuse to have 2nd wtch .If so QUIT NOW...i worked midnights for 6 straight yrs as my kids were growing just so i could do things with them.So it s bul#$^t that a whole lot of women are using that excuse. U wanted this job so take the BAD with the GOOD.
Lay off of the female police officers. i worked with many through the years in some pretty shitty districts and at the HQ bldg before I retired. All in all, they were just as good as the men. However, the difference is, that most of them were very quick to try for or to accept inside jobs. That is the fault of the bosses on the job who seem to love to load lup their offices with women. They claim they are better at administration. Maybe so, maybe not! And, it also seemed that most of the women retire as soon as they can ( that included exempts). So, don't blame the women, blame the system for way too many officers on admiistration work instead of in the field where they all belong.And, as an ending note, I was a watch commander and rarely had a women complain about childcare problems, rarely. And, yes, my watch secretary was female as were my desk crew. So I was as much to blame as the next person.

My questions are, why do the "policy group" ladies get to work on a private org. like the WTA on company time? Is the WTA part of the police department? Is the WTA a unit someone can be assigned to? Why does the policy group get to do all this secret SWAT type training when they are house mice advising the Sup. and writing department policy? This WTA sounds like some very important specialized unit.
I worked Bud Billiken, but didn't start till 1400hrs. It was one of the quietest ones I've worked in years.
The three main exempts, Lewis, CArothers, and Welch were all pretty calm, they got a little nervous when a group of "honor students" tried walking thru the crowds, but it was quickly squashed and they were all happy again.
Didn't catch Lewis yelling at anyone, if anything she couldn't of been more cordial. The night went off without any issues, but then again it was 002nd district tact and TRU, not administrative people.
The missing person count was way down, there was the usual spike at the end of the parade. One officer came across an 18 month old, WTF!!! But mom was quick to claim her child.
I do give props to 41A, not sure who the female was, but Carothers was trying to get the parade to halt so an alderpersons broken down vehicle could be moved, and 41A said, NO!! The alderperson would have to wait a hour or so till the route was clear. That was nice to hear, the word "no" when it comes to the sainted alderpeeps.

It's hilarious when the leader of the (kb) WTA couldn't even get on tact after she asked everyone possible. "I can't get on tact so Im starting my own tact team where we can meet on Saturdays and shoot at paper targets!" KB is a joke. If she wants all females to be treated equally then attend training like thousands of other officers do... On their own time and and not with a "I can do it just as good as a man" club. Train to improve, not to show off...goof.

Ah, the memories. The sad thing about this whole situation is that in years to come, some of these females will be the bosses and suddenly things will become legit. They will talk their war stories and how it was so hard for them to climb the promotional ladder.

This job was just as goofy 20 years ago. We were just a hell of a lot tougher back then.
