Twenty New Aldercreatures?
The Chicago City Council could be in for its biggest turnover in decades -- with as many as 20 seats changing hands -- thanks to a surge in voter turnout tied to the wide-open mayoral race, alderman and political observers warned Monday.
If Mayor Daley had chosen to seek a seventh term -- and once again drawn only nominal opposition -- the Feb. 22 turn-out could have been under 42 percent, as it has been in the last four mayoral elections.
That's down from over 60 percent 1989 and 47.8 percent in 1991.
But, with a wide-open mayoral seat for the first time in 64 years attracting interest from scores of candidates, turnout could double the 33 percent that went to the polls four years ago.

What about asking the people who read your blog to subit names of aldermen who are worthy or not to be elected. You could post good and bad things that each have done, or nothing.
PO Mike Carroll is running in the 46th Ward. He's facing stiff competition from SIX additional candidates, several of whom are well qualified, serious contenders. One, James Cappleman, ran against Schiller in the last election and got 47% of the vote back then. Three of them are community activists and are well known around the Ward. I think Mr Carroll has a tough road ahead of him.
Has anybody given any thought to the fact that many of these aldercreatures, as well as the mayor may not be running because of something that may have been recorded by the wire that Carothers was wearing for a year?
Additionally, Cmdr??? Carothers (well qualified, well deserved merit goof, and liar to the FBI) was at the Gold Star reception and Candlelight Vigil last night glad handing people like he was running for office, or,"gasp",Superintendent? Anyone who is talking to him better be doing it in a steam room or a pool because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
If they don't want to run again let's not even fill those vacant seats. That would bring us down to a more reasonable thirty alder-scum.
Leave those 20 damned seats empty! We don't need that many adlermutts anyway.
Please unseat that fat fuck Levar. Please!
How about "twenty less aldercreatures!" Now thats a headline!
The aldermen seats that are being vacated should be eliminated. This is one start to reduce the number of aldermen in city hall.
the reason a lot of them are not running is because the law is changing in terms of pensions where u can t collect more then one pensions working different gov. jobs. They re all trying to sneak in before the deadline....
Do what they're doing with all the city depts. DON"T FILL THE POSITIONS.
