I will be happy to attend a vigil, as soon as former police superintendent Phil Cline has no further connection with the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.

The fact that a former superintendent, one with a wonderful 125+K pension, would take a handsome salary and benefits for his participation in the foundation is a disgrace and is disrespectful to our departed brothers and sisters.

I will participate and donate once he has left the building, and not until then, regardless of the source for the blood money paid to him. He is using our dearly departed for his second career. Shame on him.

You are being ridiculous! You will not honor our fallen brothers and sisters because of one person? okay, loser - at least say a prayer that your family will never be a gold star family and susequently have to be disrespected by assholes like you!

Nitwit. It's not about Cline. The vigil is a for the families of the officers whose names are carved into the wall. If Cline was not there, you still wouldn't come out of Mommy's basement to attend. Think about someone beside yourself. My uncle's name is on that wall, and you are not fit to wear the same uniform that he bled on to.

Ridiculous, loser, asshole, nitwit, in Mommy's basement, think about someone beside yourself. All harsh and unnecessary insults and/or provocative remarks. Regardless, your insults and remarks are unconvincing.

Unlike you, I will not attend or donate and thereby give Cline tacit approval to continue his charade. I will honor my departed brothers and sisters in my own way and will continue to do so until Cline is no longer connected to the CPMF or until he volunteers his services.

How is it that both of you cannot see that Cline manufactured a second paid career off the backs of our fallen? You must be brainwashed. You can be his sheeple, but not me. I will not help him when his true purpose is to enhance his bank account.

Sure you will...Tell you what keep your $10 a month and stay away, far far away. Nobody wants you or your negative attitude anyway.

If only we could get as much attention for the vigil as we get for some stupid march. Sad....

I wrote the "nitwit" post. You are right, the words were harsh and unnecessary and I apologize for them. But not for the sentiment. "Brainwashed?" "Sheeple?" Not really. Other than a relative and some friends whose names are on the wall, and a deep appreciation for the sacrifices made by all of those officers, I have no dog in the hunt. And I am sure that you honor our dead in your own respectful way. It just seems to me that for 3-4 hours everyone could put aside the negative (whether perceived or real) to stand in a group so that the families of the fallen can actually see that they are not alone.

Stay safe out there brother or sister as the case might be. We can disagree, but I've got your back.

Whatever you think of Cline, he is out there doing work for the Memorial. For those of you who complain non-stop, what do you do besides bitch? I don't know Phil Cline, but he and other people do so much work for this great cause. You'd won't bitch, God forbid, if he arrives knocking on your door with a check to help you or your family out though.

While the Candle Light Vigil 'could' have been better attended... Thanks for all that were there.
As always, Thanks to the various pipe bands, CPD Honor Guard, singers and other volunteers that gave of themselves on behalf of those that made the 'Ultimate Sacrifice.'
If you couldn't make it there, please say a prayer in your own kind of way for all of the 550 brothers and sisters now on our memorial wall, truly... "Chicago's Finest!"
