Wrong Audience Boys
We are supporting the march. Go! March! We'll be there, too. But once again, the FOP leadership is displaying a certain amount of tone deafness that worries us. First we have this:
- Superintendent Jody Weis went on the offensive and made several less than truthful comments to the media regarding his relationship with the FOP. He also commented on the FOP leadership and their relationship to their members
Please take a moment to read the Open Letter to the Superintendent which further illustrates the need for a march on 35th street.
That was from the Financial Secretary of the FOP in reply to J-Fled's Sun Times "woe is me" screed. Then this:
- President Mark Donahue will appear on the WGN Morning News on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 8:00 am to respond to questions about the upcoming protest march at Chicago Police Headquarters.
We had a boatload of questions, too, Mark. We even ran a poll showing 87% of the members wanted the march held at City Hall. Why aren't the members questions being answered Mark? Why are you explaining to the public what you and the other board members won't explain to us?
This disjointed strategy troubles us and the Board appears to be scrambling to get in front of something. We just hope that the "something" doesn't end up being a bus we'd all be under.
And to the tiny-brains that we are sure are looking for another excuse to complain, legitimate questions and concerns being brought to the fore isn't "undercutting" or "not supporting" the actions of the FOP. It is holding the leadership of the organization responsible to the people who put them there. We (and Shaved and Shields) happen to have platforms that we've all put a lot of time and effort into creating and fine tuning, years of effort in each case.
Our readership, our voice, is one we've cultivated over time. We've never blindly supported any cause, but have done research to our satisfaction and formed our own opinions with regard to our internal compasses. We've never claimed to represent all officers - in fact, we've denied it repeatedly. But we like to think we have a handle on the pulse of things. We wouldn't be wasting our time if we didn't believe in our cause and paths of action. This is no different.

If you see today's Sun Times letters to the editors it's clear that JFrauds desperation letter to the media has reached some of the idiots out there. A couple "einstein's" write that those bad policemen and bad FOP don't like what JFraud is doing because he's trying to do the right thing and doing a decent job. What a crock of shit. These idiots are merely basing their opinion on JFraud's desperation letter to the media. In that letter JFraud refuses to look in the mirror instead blaming the incorrigibles like FOP and what he says is a small % of officers. I guess he subscribes to the philosophy that the best defense is a good offense.
He's a very poor excuse for a leader and has been manipulated by Ritchie, Aldercreatures and play Reverends virtually the entire time he has been here. If he can't see that then he's actually dumber than I gave him credit for.

I personally find it beyond remiss "if" the FOP sent any correspondence /s to the Office of the Superintendent of CPD (J.Weis)
and did not keep a hard copy of same. Assuming that these correspondences contained issues related to the improvement of the functions of the CPD membership.

These should be presented, in public forum, to dispute the claim by Weis that no suggestions...etc. were forwarded by the FOP during his tenure.
If he is correct and there is no proof that any such writings have been tendered to him then Mark D. should publically apologize to the members of the FOP and resign immediately.

For those wondering what you are marching for , I say march for more officers.
March so that one day there will be fewer 99 units. If Densey Cole had a partner that day, maybe he would not of gotten robbed. Sergeant Alan J. Haymaker may of not had to sit wrapped around a tree for so long had there been closer units. If Police Officer Richard M. Francis officer Francis had a partner...you know where I am going. Nothing is for sure but understaffed, the above all sound like wrongful deaths.
The Mayor has so many body guards just in case, so does JFED-why can't the citizens be privy to "just in case?"

Hate to say it but the Sup was right on target with some of his criticisms of the FOP. In some instances they were the same criticisms that its members have been citing for some time now. The FOP is an empty shell that neither listens to its member nor serves them. City hall is gettting its trash taken out, time for the same in FOP.

Shields is getting blasted by the FOP office on this blog for merely bringing them into reality. His letter requests that the FOP communicate with the membership to make this a success. Like usual, anyone crossing the boys at the lodge, becomes their enemy.

Even though SCC remains anonymous, which is something I believe is in his and everyone who posts best interest, SCC has given us a voice in this city. There have been more things brought out on his blog than any other source previous. This blog is read by the press, the citizens and those in power. Yes there is some bullshit posts and rumors, but they are stated as rumors. Many posts though are right on target. There were other avenues for us to post previously, by those who did not remain anonymous and they were shot down in weeks, if not less. The ones that weren't were constantly censoring anything negative, even if the truth. Even though SCC is an anonymous blog, he has brought out more wrongs than ever done before. This blog serves as a place where people get information that is problematic to the police department and the city. This blog has kicked more bosses and politicians in the ass than any other venue has ever done. It is a thorn in the bosses and politicians side because what is spoken here is the truth. The problems and truths behind the scenes are brought out here. I for one commend you SCC and may you keep this blog going long and hard. I thank you for the information and voice you give us all. To those few who feel different, go suck the bosses dicks and stay away. You are just insignificant ASSHATS. The naysayers can only be described as MINI-MASTERS(X3).

What exactly is this march for..Is it for low man power or for us to get Jody to retire..if it's for low man power then fine but the fliers that are scattered around my district say "Jody has failed us." If that's the case then this march is basically for all the salty p.o.'s that have always complained and always will complain about this job. Your speculations are most likely correct. The FOP response was full of holes and it is clear that they did not make any suggestions of any formal type. Perhaps they thought the Superintendent would wait months for them to get back to him just like they make members wait around for little service. The sup might be a lot of things but I gotta hand it to him on this one- he's on the money. FOP did not do much as is evidenced with their sudden interest in the state of affairs of this department. Just when its safe to come out Donohue.
Whether you show up at the march or not... (everyone who can march, should march) Then show up at the next fop meeting to raise holy hell. This meeting should be SRO so we can hear the fraternal leadership finally come clean with the membership. No artful dodging allowed... The membership should keep the pressure on for full disclosure.
Eyes should be on the prize of City Hall at the next full council meeting on 06 October.
No incumbent currently sitting on the city council should survive the next election intact.
The hunted and captive taxpayers should take the motherloving hide off every last one. Especially those who voted "yea" to hock municipal assets and particularly those who continue to shit-talk The Police like we're responsible for the $700 million dollar hole in the budget.

I am not go for one reason. If I go protest it would be to protest against FOP. Mark Donahue isnt doing this on his own. He was told to do it. Its a front to make it look like FOP cares. They want Greg Bella to be next. There is now way I wil vote for Bella. And I know him. Business as usual.
The current FOP can go to hell.

But sorry, the Bill Cozzi signs are a bad idea. They just confuse the issue. I get that you feel Weis punished him unduly, but to the public, he's a cop that did wrong. Supporting him in this march will give Weis another "gold brick" comment moment and may cost you public support. Get rid of Weis THEN deal with Cozzi's situation. IMHO.
