Tracking Crime and Stuff
An interesting site. Just enter your address, and look to see what crime has been reported. It's nowhere near 100% of course, but it can give you a general impression of the neighborhood. The default setting appears to be registered sex offenders.
And here's a Google.maps feature that tracks foreclosures. It starts in Washington DC, but you can move the map around to Chicago in short order.

I can't believe that the real estate market has declined so much. And it will continue to decline even more. Inventory has now risen to an all time high. There is a huge amount of shadow inventory. Plus 14% of all mortgage holders are behind on their payments (the traditional average during recessions is 3%).
The best move I ever made was to walk away from my house in Forest Glen. I was stupid (looking back on hindsight) to pay $600,000 for a house. The market value decline by 40% to 55%. If you are upside down then don't be foolish. Don't continue to make payments on an asset that has declined and will continue to decline.
Notice how the city is going to try to use the firearms registration list to inform first responders of weapons on scene? Also, how the city raised the cost from $20 for the first 10 guns you own, to $15 per gun? Sounds like taxing your rights to me.
Not one reported crime within 1 mile of my house for last 6 months. Of course I live in Arizona now.

You are everything that was wrong with the housing market. You bought a house you couldn't afford, and when the going got tough, you walked away. You're no better than the ghetto rats who live off tax-payers. Far be it from you to live up to the payments you agreed to when you signed your name to the contract. DEADBEAT!
Oddly, sex offenders are the ONLY thing that I can get the CrimeReports map to display. When I hide them, Chicago is as crime-free as Jody Weiss says it is.
To the Beford Park female office #47 I want to thank you for showing a fellow officer family member your professional courtesy. It must have really pleased you to write that B.S stop sign at 67 lavergne in the industrial area at 6 in the morning. I hope you made your quota which I know for a fact Bedford Park has and I hope for my christmas wish that I can return the favor to you. The only people who watch out for the police are the police but you are not part of that fraternity. The Bedford Park PD has always been the best and still are but there is always one bad apple who hurts other members. To the officer I hope you enjoy looking at yourself in the mirror knowing that you f**k over a CPD officer and a family member. The I don't care who is the police is in your family is a nice touch. Officer who live in 8 beware.
