Insignificant Again

Once again, we got bombarded with e-mail and a dozen or more comments, congratulating our continued insignificance of making the Top Ten Unique Google Chicago Searches for 2010.

WGN Radio had a segment on the John Williams Show if you care to listen. We wrote about it last year, too.

We dropped from #3 to #9, but we're just going to say that's because everyone who made us #3 last year just bookmarked us so they didn't have to type out the whole thing over and over again. But what the hell is up with that picture? We've never seen a computer or siren box like that. And the copper pictured is wearing a United States flag on her shoulder, which doesn't appear anywhere on the CPD uniform. Evidently, the Tribune couldn't be bothered to find an actual picture of a Chicago cop, or even a screen capture of our page lest they drive even more traffic our way.

So one year and 4.5 million visitors later, we are obligated to tender our heartfelt "Thanks" to all our readers. We are glad you find us worth a few minutes of your day and hope we disappoint you less often than we entertain you. We can tell you this much - having this site as an outlet has made the last three disastrous years a bit easier to deal with.

Funny how the papers can't find a picture of a chicago copper when it's for something like this. They have no problem with finding pics of chicago coppers or the cpd logo when there's a so called 'scandal' or a cop's actions are questioned.

If nothing else, SCC, your blog has pointed out the blatant political interference within the hierarchy of the CPD over the 'J-Fled' years, a total nightmare if the rank and file have any say about it. You've shown how incompetent Mayor Daley's choice to 'lead' the CPD has been...and what Weis's role really has been for the past almost-three-years now: to hold his asscheeks open as Daley stuck it to the Department, using Dept.'s inner circle as his own private City Hall connected employment agency for executive placement within the exempt ranks, with the inclusion of Roman, O'Keefe, 3M, Ladner, Murphy, Gross, EB and a few other lesser knowns. Your 'insignificant' blog is vitally important because it dares ask (and even answers) questions that the so-called "mainstream' press is far to cowardly either to ask or answer in print on in the televised news media.
Thanks again.

I have noticed that more coppers admit tobreading the blog lately.

I admit it. What's the big deal?

It's a great place to come for the latest facts and/or latest rumors.

And this past year with losing six of our own this blog has most importantly become a place for me to turn to for support. Some of the prayers posted have gotten me thru the sadness I feel when one of us gets killed.

Scc, thanks. Really.

I just fired off this email to Quinn regarding the pension bill.

"Please do NOT veto the current pension bill that was sent to you. Why has Mayor Daley and the City of Chicago NOT lived up to their end of municipal pension contributions for the past 10-15 years? Why is it now when the state may potentially backstop the city of Chicago's lack of future funding is the Mayor of Mismanagement (Daley) raising a stink? The men and women of these pension funds have dutifully paid into the pension, as per law. Why has the city of Chicago been allowed to neglect it's fiduciary obligation? The main reason the pension funds are now in shambles is directly related to the city of Chicago continually neglecting to pay their legally mandated obligation, NOT because of "greedy" pensioners, as is so craftily being spun to the masses through media outlets by career politicians like Daley. By vetoing this pension bill you will enable the city of Chicago and it's inept Mayor to continue to shirk it's pension obligation. The mayor is on record recently as stating he would like to see the pension system go bankrupt in order to "reorganize." I wonder if the mayor is going to turn down any of his 3 pensions that he will be drawing from in the not near enough future? Forgive me for not being gullible. Please FORCE the city of Chicago and it's lame-duck mayor as well as the future mayor to own up to it's fiduciary responsibilities to those who have been mandated to pay into the pension system. Many in Chicago, particularly those affected by this vote, will be watching. Many like myself are not one to play the game of politics. However, I will do everything in my power to actively educate potential future voters in both state and local elections. Anyone who votes against this pension bill on the local level (Chicago alderman) and those on the state level will be the focus of myself and others tireless work to have those removed from office! Of that you can be sure."

In your post, you blame the Mayor.

You must ALSO include the 50 other geniuses for their lack of fiduciary responsibility as to raising questions about not paying enough into the pension fund and creating a growing liability for the city (and the rest of us in the state).

Did you hear ANY alderman screaming about the shortfall in the pension?

When I was an elected official in a suburb, I questioned our police pension and the dopes running it (sorry I am politically accurate)and made them come up with quarterly reports so that we (trustees) could monitor any shortfall before it got out-of-hand.

Because of that, we will be one of the few municipalities that won't have to go downstate to ask for a bailout.

Too many suburbs and other towns think that the state is going to bail them out. With what? The well has run dry.

Stop electing dummies at both the local and state level.

Any other insomniacs out there watch the Paul McCartney interview on the Jimmy Fallon show last night? McCartney told a story of a recent ride on public transportation in the Big Apple. Apparently, on a bus filled with M/W'S and F/W'S only a solitary F/1recognized him and nearly went into Beatlemania style hysterics! McCartney then describes their brief conversation and tries to impersonate her as he does. Listening to Paul's impersonation you would think he spent ten years pushing a beat car around in 011 or 015! Find it on youtube if possible and you'll piss in your pants watching this one!

SCC you were the catalyst that help bring down the Daley regime. You provided a voice and a forum to expose how corrupt and cynical Daley had become and how he was damaging the city.

I love the city of Chicago and Daley may have at one time also. But at some point he started taking the easy way out. He took our tax money and gave it to the Reverunds in return for votes. He ran the city on a credit card - putting IOU's in the pension funds and using the money instead for operating expenses. He basically ran a Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme. Great for getting him elected, but ultimately gutting the city. Criminal financial mismanagement.

SCC, you provided a forum for this to be exposed. The supine press in this city is shamefully inadequate and bears some responsibility for not having the skill, ability and courage to write about this. And now they are paving the way for Rahm Emmanuel's inauguration.

Thanks for all you have done SCC. Hopefullly the damage inflicted by Daley can be overcome, especially in the CPD. Keep on fighting.

Every district I've seen lately has still got a "doorman" or "doorwoman" at the watch commander's door because they've got everyone convinced that, "there actually IS a lot for the watch secretary to get done!" So...they work on the sheets as the roll calls let out so they look VERY busy, then an hour later they're shopping online, gossiping with review/Commander's office, disappear for naps and lunch, but NEVER TAKING A REPORT AT THE FRONT DESK!

Good thing they eliminated the position. Funny how they all said the Districts would fall apart without them!

This is going to be a little off subject, however, I feel it needs to be addressed. Concerning Tracey Ladner is she a "RACIST" I would like to know as well as every white, black and self respecting hispanic cop on the force today would like to know. Here's why: "Ladner's team not only wants to change the perception of what a police officer does, they also want to mold the image of what a Chicago cop looks like.

Gone would be the stereotype of the rough-and-tumble white cop with basic education and strained interactions with minorities, replaced with a more tech-savvy, multilingual person of any race, religion or sexual orientation.

"We want people who are able to reach out to the community that they serve and come up with solutions," Ladner said. "And the solution isn't always arresting people." I'm sorry, Tracey so you would rather fore go the equal employment act in order to hire a select group of people, that’s RACIST. So you beat up on a race of people in this country who made the CPD the Police Dept. it is today in order to justify putting minorities who probably do not even qualify for the job i.e.: gangbangers, shitheads with criminal records, to name a few. I think Ms. Ladner's ideal cop is a black, transsexual, gay person. There are people of ethnicity (I refuse to call them "minorities" that is racist in itself) that are very qualified for this job because like their white counterparts were raised by good people who cared enough about how their children would behave as adults. This country we live in was founded with one language and we should not have to bow to anyone who speaks a different language than our own when interacting with them. We are a POLICE DEPARTMENT and with all police departments we make ARRESTS and SOLVE PROBLEMS, that is what we do been doing way before Ms. Ladner knew what a police Dept. was. I happen to know that Ms. Ladner at this time is refusing to do thorough background checks on current applicants and that there is at this time a few academy classes with known gang members in them. These people are learning our tactics and will be working next to all of us in the next couple of months unless we have an audit done of all current academy classes and weed out the infiltration. I think a total retraction is in order about what Ms. Ladner said about "white people" and a full apology is in order. The department can find someone to replace her as director of Human Resources because with her at the helm we are going to have another gang infiltration of our department not seen since the mid 1990's.
