First of the Year
As far as we can tell, this is the first homicide of 2011:
A man who was left critically wounded from a stabbing Saturday has died.
Henry Jones, 37, of the 1100 block of West Hollywood Avenue in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood, was stabbed in the neck and pronounced dead at 4:50 a.m. Saturday at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. His death was ruled a homicide.
The stabbing happened about 3:30 a.m., according to police News Affairs.
If anyone has any info to the contrary, let us know.

I think 009 had a person shot at Wolcott at 0230 on the 1st where a 0110 was generated. Not a 100% on that though.

The shithead blasted at Cottage Grove and 79th was at 2:20AM.
Fully justifiable (should be rewardable) homicide, but homicide nonetheless.

Are we going to consider it a homicide since the female was RWOC for acting in self defense?? Look up the arrest report. Its not hard to find , its one of two arrest reports for the day in sleepy 020.

The shooting in 009 on Wolcott wasn't a 0110. He survived. They did have a hit and run that was gang related at around 0330. A king got ran over on purpose after an altercation between gangs.

Isnt that 24 right there? No one was killed by gun fire except the police shooting before I left work at 0700. Justified police shooting shouldnt count as the first of the year.

The domestic fatal stabbing at 1111 W. Hollywood in 020 is a justifiable homicide. To my knowledge, the first recorded murder for 2011 has not yet occurred.
Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd give even odds that it will occur in either 011, 007 or Area 2.

This is 100 true. So is this the FIRST homicide in for 2011????
In our district we are going with the double homicide in 006 as the winner. 009's guy lived, 020's was RWOC and 007's time of occurrence was last year; we agreed the pool starts on 01 Jan 11 @ 0001 hrs.
We went with 007 per the Homicide desk at Det Div Headquarters. They do the stats for the year and they are counting the one in 007 as #1.
You know this isn't final til' after all the dumpsters have been collected this week. Someone living in one could have easily caught a celebratory shot in error.
Henry was killed because a jealous crazy woman whom was not his wife she just lied to the police. He never laid his hands on her she has tried to kill him before. But because he wanted to stay in the relationship because of there kids look where it got him. Women please stop killing men because you think they are cheating on you! It's not worth the pain and heartache you've cost families, friends, and kids! GOD BLESS HIS KIDS AND RIP HENRY!
This was murder....this female was unstable for years..jealous, fighting this man...
Everyone who ever knew Henry Jones knows that he was never violent and abusive. He was just in a bad relationship with an unstable woman. Even her own family would agree
And Chalkie's opinion counts for nothing this year? What is he? Chopped plaster?
Slightly OT but why not raise the stakes and offer a Trifecta? 1st, 2nd, and 3rd of New Year? I know the tabulation involved would be more work, but I think it would lead to more accurate results and a larger payout.
