Rahm Closing In on 50%

  • Rahm Emanuel is closing in on the majority he needs to end the mayor's race next month and avoid a one-on-one runoff, a new Tribune/WGN poll shows.

The former White House chief of staff had the support of 44 percent of those surveyed. Emanuel enjoys a wide lead among women and white voters and has substantial support among African-American and Latino voters.

Former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun and onetime Chicago Board of Education President Gery Chico are battling for second place in hopes of advancing to an April runoff. But they also must stop Emanuel from getting more than 50 percent and winning outright on Feb. 22.

Braun had 21 percent support and Chico 16 percent, with City Clerk Miguel del Valle at 7 percent and 9 percent undecided. The poll of 708 likely registered voters was conducted Saturday through Wednesday and has an error margin of 3.7 percentage points.
And Braun is in second??? What the hell is in the water here?

Like we told you in the beginning, Chico is just a cockblocker. Then again, Rahm thought we'd pull together tighter than the mealy-mouthed, wrecking crew we've showed ourselves to be. Seems all we're really good at is unceasing bitching. Chico's gonna come out smelling like a rose, Rahm will rule the small part of the world Bill Daley and Madigan allow him and we can get back to studying for promotions we know we'll never get and working for supervisors that don't know a verb from an adjective. Or an objective.

Braun's brother was at the sergeant's union meeting Thursday night. (He is a sergeant in Area 2)

He began yelling and saying it's "bullshit" that his sister did not receive an endorsement.

Supposedly the questionnaire that all the candidates were sent was never returned by Braun.
Maybe she left it under a couple cases of that fucking herbal tea that she can't sell.

Due to the APATHY of eligible voters, including CPD and CFD families, friends and neighbors, Rahm Emanuel will be our next mayor. Now let's all join hands behind our beloved Mare's heir apparent and sing Kumbaya.

Early voting throughout the City begins on Monday, January 31st. If in doubt about Rahm's candidacy and "integrity", do NOT vote on or before the February 22nd election. If you are not registered to vote and oppose the Rahmfather, there is no need to register to vote before next Tuesday's deadline.

After all, it's da Chicago Way!.

Have people lost their mind?

Look at the huge bump in numbers Rahm is receiving after he states he wants to cut our pensions. His research shows that the police votes he loses will be made up ten fold by those who want to see the police get reamed.

The more he says he will screw public employees the more votes he is getting from our fine citizens.

And he is doing it with outside money and big business contributions.

And you just wait till the Hollywood big shots start coming here giving endorsements like Bill Clinton did. Rahm will steamroller everyone else. then it will be our turn to be rolled over.

It is Gery Chico or else be prepared for a very unhappy rest of your career.

Now go make arrests and write tickets!

Rahm is not closing in on 50%. The media is smelling an upset and this is their way of killing Chico's momentum. The Reader has Chico on the front page looking like a regular guy , not Satan or Boris Karlov. There has been a groundswell of support for Chico. Don't freak out. That is what they want.
Speaking of election tactics... Chico has to go after Rahm un-mercifully. Chico better stand up and tell Chicago that he is ...

1. not satan (they will get it)
2. does not look like a horror movie villian (they will get it)
3. never gave any co-worker a dead fish.
4. never made sexist derogatory remarks to co-workers.
5. Has lived in Chicago as required by law.
6. Has seen the light and now knows that daley and his family are thieves.
7. Will dump J-Fraud and all the rest of his desperate housewives that he brought in to ruin CPD.
8. Start funding the pensions with TIF money because it is only fair.
9. Not act like a mob boss and stop the dirty deals of city hall.

That is the roadmap to Chico victory. If he does not play hardball they will steamroll him. He has got to take it to the hoop now that he has momentum.

It never ceases to amaze me that voters keep voting for the same corrupt leaders and then wonder why their taxes went up, why the parking meters got privatized, etc....

It is absolutely sickening to see that voters continue to vote for the same familiar faces and then wonder why things are so bad.

Honestly, we get what we deserve. Now, some of you may say "well then who the hell am I going to vote for?" Well, in my case, I am going to vote for John Hu and write his name in. He is not a politician and just a businessman. He got sick of the high cost of doing business and decided to run for mayor. He even got all the signatures required, but the corrupt machine still figured out how to take him off the ballot. Some of you may say "well if I vote for this John Hu guy or any other person, then my vote was wasted". And that is the main reason why the same old people keep getting elected. If the entire electorate decided to vote for their own candidate of choice, the outcome would be much different.

"Rahm Closing In on 50%"
---

We police officers face no greater danger to our livelihood and future and pensions than Rahm Emmanuel.

The men with guns we can deal with, we have more guns and better training and we are prepared for that. But now we will be attacked with an unrelenting, unmerciful, unholy force from within, Rahm Emanuel. And it is looking increasingly like he will be our next Mayor.

It is a bitterly cruel irony that after suffering under 21 years of Daley rule that we should be force fed someone who is many times worse!

We face danger every day to our lives and health once we don the uniform. Now we will face constant attack on our paychecks and pensions from our supposed next leader.

And we are supposed to work for this man? We are supposed to lay it on the line during our tours of duty and then read in the news how he will reward us by stealing our pensions from us because his predecessor drove the City to the brink of bankruptcy?

We should go to work with that in our collective consciousness?

Will Rich Daley take less of a pension? Will Gene Schulter take less than his due of 80% of that aldermanic salary, plus COLA, for life? Will any of them take one cent less than what they vote for each other?

I doubt it.

And for that we get spit at, shot at, kicked, punched, have cars aimed at us, work crappy hours and more.

BULLSHIT!

I don't know how to fight back on this one. But I do know this, we should ALL be mad as hell! A two tiered pension system isn't enough for the bastards?

Fuck this evil monster Rahm Emanuel! Fuck him! Fuck him! Fuck him!

There aren't enough motivated working class citizens to rid us of the bums that are continually in power. (See the last election of Madigan and Quinn.) I know I'm preaching to the choir.

Candidate (Barbara Ateca) Not too far into her speech did she say "... I'm not that great in front of a live camera" oops! camera shy? Your out!

Candidate (Patrick Murphy) Experienced in urban planning. He would be in asset to Dept. of Housing. Clean up all that mess.

Candidate (Maurita Gavin) Currently Alderman Doherty's assistant. All she is going to do is continue where Doherty left off which I believe the 41st Ward is in need of a new regime. Out with the old and in with the new. She's still set in Doherty's ways.

Candidate (Brock Merk) Anyone see the movie " Mr. Woodcock?" Need I saw more?

Candidate (Richard Gonzalez) Not Irish but can get the job done.

Candidate (Jim Mullen) Did not attend. Endorsed by
F.O.P. I wonder what they based they're decision on.

Candidate (Maurita Gavin) Not a mean streak. She doesn't belong to a union. I'm wondering if she'll put up a good
fight in the city council for city workers.

Candidate (John Quinn) Soft spoken. I saw him more than I heard him.

Based upon that and what was said at the roll call I sat in after I mailed in my ballot was why they endorsed Chico. It is one thing to go out and march for 90 minutes and then go to happy hour for three hours. But if we what to be respected as a political force we have to vote in high numbers and get family and friends to the polls too. Why have the city and state continued to throw money in that black hole in the ground called the CPS? Because teachers vote and their political action committee’s give money to candidates. Time to become a political force or farce, the choice is ours.

Voting is nothing more then the illusion of having a choice or the ability to change government. The bastards with all the money will get what they want when they want it. Your piss-ass sorry vote does nothing more then amuse those in on the fix and frustrate you the voter.

Mayors, Adlerman or whatever- there is no caring about the greater good- just the "me" factor.

Isn't it sad to wake up one day, after spewing our words at the shitbags on the streets to get a job and become someone, only find out they were smarter (in that case) then we were. It's beginning to feel that way- the working man IS a sucker. "What the hell is in the water here?"
-----------------------------------

The same thing that's always been in the water since the 1920's and probably earlier, and it's this simple.

Chicago is corrupt. There are enough corrupt people here to override the ones that aren't. A lot of the people that will say they are moral and stand for doing the right thing are lying, they really aren't/don't. Plus they are really stupid. That's what's in the water here, corruption, greed, and stupidity.

SCREW this damn poll. How damn scientific can it be? There was an article in the scum-times the other day that said that there are 1,391,565 registered voters in Chicago. I'm not a math wiz so I am not sure what percentage the 708 likely registered voters would be.1/10 of 1% maybe. But I went to the city board of election web site and found that there are 2,570 precints in this city. So that would mean that they asked l1 likely registered voter for every
3 1/2 precints in the city. WOW that is very sceintific. Next they will say that the poll was conducted in the area around the north side Ravenwood area. Rahm backyard.

A big F.U. to the poll takers and the twisting that they do to try to brainwash voters to pick someone.

Are the city residents as stupid as I think they are?? You've got to be an idiot to vote for Rahm. He's in it for the money and nothing else. He doesn't have a vested interest in Chicago other than his bank account. Don't bitch if you don't get out and vote against this guy. He WILL ruin this city. He is evil.

People of Chicago do you really want your police dept. to be a low wage low benefit job? This dept. like all professions has had its scandals. But lets look at other countries, take Mexico as an example. Police officer in Mexico is not a very good job thus, for the most part, less than quality people apply. Even in Illinois towns like Ford Heights have had major problems. When a police officer is tested, screened and finally hired the model sought is not even what he or she will do on the job but what they won't. A police officer is granted a great deal of power, what could a less desirable candidate do? Do you want your daughter pulled over by a less costly, lower calibre officer on a dark night? I don't. Citizens of Chicago you can complain all you want about public sector unions and how unfair things are, the truth is most police and fire retire with decent pensions. Not six figures, those are reserved for political sellout's , manager's who fancy themselves leaders. But I believe citizens of Chicago when that ambulance or squad car pulls up you want a quality person to get out. As far as this new attitude being pushed by the powers that be that the only compenstaion we need on this job is a fulfilling a sense of duty. You would never say that to a doctor or lawyer. We do, do this job to serve but not to be used. Its an old saying, but true. You will get what you pay for.

You're still keeping Rahm out by not voting for him and denying him 51% in the first round. Chico needs the votes in the first round to advance.

The D.A running for trustee is the son, not the retired guy D.A. you might be thinking of.

Trustees are voted for individually, if you don't like one, vote for someone else, there is no straight ticket voting in the FOP election.

Same with the whole election, vote for individuals, everyone wants officers to vote for their entire ticket but realistically, that is unlikely to happen.

There, problem solved, now wait for your ballot to come in the mail.

The bottom line is that Rahm will be mayor. The reason being the media potraying the average public worker as a millionaire when they retire. Coming from another state, I have never seen such hatred towards police, fire, teachers etc as it is here. Why?? Because the media portrays police, fire and teachers as the root of all evil. BTW has anyone seen the latest issue of Chicago magazine and how many pages of lawyers are in it from this state?? If anything, thats probably the actual reason why the State of Illinois is all fucked up! Do people realize that in the 70's president Carter era the recession was actually worse than it is now? Look it up. People don't talk about it because the media didn't tell you that everyday then like they do now!

I got a copy of this from a local nieghborhood newspaper near midwau airport. YIKES! WTF?

A Problem for Police;
Fire, City Employees
Rahm Erntnuel has one wotd for city workers who
have signed up to ring doorbells for his campaign.
Suckerrrrrs!
That's right. You heard it here first * ifcnly because
the so-called mainstream media in this city are ignoring
the sory and once again slanting news coverage in
favoroftheir anointed candidate. ,,
Leave it to New York Times reporter Dan Mihalopoulos
to break the news recently.
Rahm secretly plans to make deep and painflrl cuts
to clty pension benefits - not just to new hires, but to
men and women who have been on the job 10,20, 30
years. This includes police, fire, laborers and all city
workers.
That is radically different than what Gery Chico;
Carol Moseley Braun and Miguel Del Valle have proposed,
which are pension reductions only for new
hires.
According to the iy'el" York Times story, Rahm revealed
his secret plans in a closed-door meeting on
Dec. 15 with leaders of the Chicago Federation df
Labot. Rahm didn't count on you or me or any other
Chicago voters learning about this plan to cut pelsions.
When confronted by the New York Tlmes fbporter,
Rahm's campaign spokesman claiined that
Rahm plans to tell everyone about his plans to cut pensions
i'sometime in February."
Yeah, right. hobably at 9 am. Wednesday, Feb. 23
- the day after the primary.
Suckerrrrrsl
ff ""*. "f
nahm's secret plan continues to seep out
through nondoop news outlets - the New. York
Times, the Progress Illinois labor blog, neighborhoodhotebook.
cotn, community newspapers and sb
forth - tfu dov"ntown media, the Trib, Sun-Tirnas and
TV/radio news may be forced to at least acknowledge
the sbry. If that occurs, watch for the Emanuel campaign
to go into a full-blown, damage control spin
mode worthy of Rahm's political godfather, Mayor
Richaid M. Daley: deny, deny, deny, deflect, deflect,
deflect.
Then watch Rahm's paid lackeys in the Loop press
swallow it with a smile and then "reporto'the news to
you: Rahm was misquoted. Rahm was niisunderstood.
Rahm never said that. Rahm is like a good neighbor.
Rahm likes puppies.
Don't be upset with gentle, sweater-wearing Rahm.
Go back to sleep, voters.
The downtown media will also attack city workers,
as they usually do t- using words like "lavish" to describe
municipal pensions. As always, they will neglect
to say that the reason government pensioris pay
higher than private sector plans is that city workers
receive no Social Security benefits when they retire.
Shame on Rahm Emanuel for hiding his pension-cut
plans from the voters.
Shame oil most members of the Chicago Federation
of Labor for not blowing the whistle. Get ready city workers.... We are all going to be suckersssss.

The poll may be an ok sampling, but it's more of an illusion to make it look like Rahm is out front.

I guess that would be Sam Zell's anonymous contribution to Rahm.

I call bullshit on this one. Norwood Park is pissing distance from Hardwood Hts. We north siders would never allow this to happen that close to Hardwood Hts. Park Ridge, Niles or Skokie. This far north we are not even on city water we drink from artisian springs and eat honey made by dwarfs.

Emanuel Gets a Boost From Financial Sector

By JACOB BUNGE

CHICAGO—Rahm Emanuel is drawing heavy support in his mayoral bid from this city's trading and exchange community, with big donations from the financial sector helping to swell his campaign war chest to $11.8 million.

Exchange operators CME Group Inc. and CBOE Holdings Inc. are major backers of Mr. Emanuel's bid, alongside executives of hedge fund operator Citadel LLC and local trading firms like Getco LLC and DRW Holdings, according to documents filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections.

Ken Griffin, founder of hedge fund giant Citadel, was among the biggest donors to Mr. Emanuel's campaign with $100,000. Electronic market-maker Getco gave $10,000. Also, $50,000 came from Don Wilson, partner at the trading firm DRW Holdings, and another $50,000 from Matthew Hulsizer, chief executive of Peak6 Investments.

44% + 21% + 16% + 7% + 9% = 97%, or 686.76 of 708 voters total, which leaves 3% of 708 voters, or 21.24 voters, unaccounted.

So how did the 21.24 voters reply?Bite me? Leave me alone? Huh? Whatever? Click? And did the .24 voter say his/her answer in a really tiny voice? WTF!

These polling stoops fabricated the whole thing, but were not bright enough to cipher it out and massage it so it would appear to make sense!

This poll is nothing, but a diversion to give the impression that the Rahm Fuhrer is one sidewalk square away from being unbeatable. It is equal in quantity, quality and usefulness to a big, stinking, rotting pile of used baloney! And the error margin of 3.7 percentage points is total double processed baloney, too.

He is not a supporter of the City Workers! Expect broken promises from him.

That's why u don't vote for the guy. Just because he's on their ticket doesn't mean u must vote for him. They also have DS from the academy. This fool comes off as incompetent and lazy. All he liked to talk about are gay war stories. I'm all for Shields team but not DS. BTW, when the citywide team was in my district, all they could do is rip on how young Shields team was. I don't care about age, what's important is what they do for us and shields team sounded a whole lot better.

The bottom line is that Rahm will be mayor. The reason being the media potraying the average public worker as a millionaire when they retire. Coming from another state, I have never seen such hatred towards police, fire, teachers etc

Sorry boys the new guys are in the people voted- deal with it.
