$37 Million for Snow Removal?

  • The snowstorm that wreaked so much havoc on Chicago last month also walloped City Hall's wallet.

The $37.3 million the city spent to dig out was more than double what Mayor Richard Daley set aside for snow removal for the whole year, officials said Friday.

All for a snowfall that melted away into the ground and sewers a couple weeks later.
It'd be nice to see what percentage of that money headed to connected "Hired Truck" firms that were supposed to be banned. And is there any truth to the rumor that $37.3 million is exactly the amount left over in the "parking meter sale rainy day fund?" We heard it was exact, to the penny.

Rahm said that he is going to order a forensics audit of all city departments to see how the money is spent. Could get interesting. I'd like to see the results.

The results of an audit will be placed in the same drawer as our morale survey.

Did anybody catch his little rant yesterday that Americans are whiners in front of a business group?

This piece of subhuman shit actually said we could compete with China, India, Mexico etc...if "everyone would just sacrifice a little". Guys like him won't be happy until every American is a slave.

When did he ever sacrifice? When did "Patrick Batters" ever sacrifice? When has anyone of the dangerous Vaneckos sacrificed? When has Nora ever sacrificed?

Give those accountants some teeth and hook them up to the IG's office or give them a % of what they find, otherwise I'm not too hopeful.

Can we get the IRS to do it on the grounds that somebody didn't pay taxes on what they stole? I'd like to see the midget go to jail like Capone, on taxes.

I remember seeing a number in the times 2 days after the storm. It was something like 300.000 no where near 3 mill. Do some searching . I will . ( and I know the cleanup took longer than 2 days. that's when I saw it )

The whole volunteer to shovel snow is part of a money making scam as well. With federal disaster relief money, governing bodies can make up short-comings up to 25% of their unreimbursed cost by seeking compensation for volunteers. The volunteers are not paid but the governing body gets the money. So if your an alderman/ward captain, etc. and you were able to get so many names signed on a snow removal volunteer roster you just earned some favors from city hall. It would be interesting if the media had actual investigative reporters who did an FOIA and identified names of people who actually were not shoveling snow. I would suppose that would fall under federal violations for fraudulant documentation for federal relief funds.

How about the $1250 that my neighbors and I ponied up to hire a private snow plow to clean our block so that we could all get ours cars out and get to our jobs! Are we eligible for federal disaster funds too? Where do I send the paperwork? To the 19th ward office? To whos attention? Ginger, Matt O'Shea? Of course we will be denied because Rahm is SUPER pissed at the 19th ward! How is it that they (the regular 19th ward dummycrats) delivered the election for the golden-boy O'Shea, BUT they couldn't deliver it for the ballerina?

RE forensic audit and those people like Rahm who throw this term out and don't know what they are talking about:

a forensic audit is done when there is KNOWN fraud or a discovery of fraud ...each dept should be thoroughly audited, NOT just a review, but an AUDIT...if thu the audit, fraud is dicovered, then a forensic audit will then expose the entire fraud from beginning to end....explaining the who, what when, where, whys and how....subpoenas and search warrants help with the forensic audit.

Been there, done that says:
the IRS won't to shit unless it's all wrapped up in a pretty package by some other law enforcement agency.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

because the people who live in the 19th ward wanted O'Shea, and we did not WANT Rahm because he said the he is going after city workers pensions.

Let me explain it to you, dumbass. The 19th ward is filled with city workers and we DO NOT WANT OUR PENSIONS FUCKED WITH.

If you are on the job, remember that you voted for him when you are trying to figure out what you are going to do for money in your retirement because the 401K that he shoved down your throat on his way to higher office is tanking because you are too dumb to keep an eye on it.

What'll it be jocko? Alpo burgers or Eukanuba sandwiches? On day old bread.

Good luck with that.

RELAX Francis! I never said that I voted for Rahm. As a student of politics, I just commented on how the "golden-boy" couldn't deliver for Rahm and THAT will cost you 19th ward dummycrats. Rahm is a very vindictive prick. By the way, Matt O'Shea wont be eating Alpo or Eukanaba sandwiches. He's been pulling down three government checks for doing one job for many years now. I assume that you voted for him? And you call me a dumbass?

WTF, here I'll try and help those out who may have a problem with that. I mean its simple math, my kids can figure this one....
Manpower, eqipment and all runs about $25 mollion, then you gotta have them no bid golden whores to add in their cut, say bout $5 million then those same whores gotta launder that cash for the "king" and pay tribute for the No bid contract......so what's da beef, just typical business as usual.

Let me first say that I am not the "you" that YOU referred to, but yes, YOU ARE A DUMBASS. O'Shea had three sources of income, but he still didn't even make the same money a teacher would. I SUGGEST YOU STOP READING THE PREACHINGS OF TB, or whatever other moronic blogger pops up this week in the 19th Ward. While I am glad your uneducated-ass has discovered the fascinating world that computers have unleashed, I'd feel a heckuva a lot better if you would learn to read the fine print and no, wait...If you would learn to read. You're a moron. Why don't you use your surfing priveleges to do something more useful, like research the alien-conspiracy theories abound in Roswell, NM?

Don't forget the money they used to rent snowmobiles from some joint in Wisconsin to rescue stranded motorists on LSD. And WHY were they stranded on LSD? Oh yeah, the city never closed it, even though they knew dangerous conditions exsisted and were getting worse.
