Channel 2 Covers Cozzi

No idea why this would be news to anyone outside of SCC readers, but Channel 2 has always been anti-police, so this must have been an opportunity for the police haters to vent their spleens:
  • Some Chicago Police officers have started a letter-writing campaign, in an effort to get the Federal Bureau of Prisons to move one of their own to a prison closer to home.

As WBBM Newsradio 780’s Mike Krauser reports, Officer William Cozzi was sentenced in 2009 to 40 months in federal prison for beating a man who was handcuffed and shackled in a wheelchair.

The comments are full of haters, but the police supporters make an impressive showing also. In any event, it becomes all the more important to maintain decorum when writing to the Bureau of Prisons to ask the director to reconsider Bill's prison assignment. Polite and to the point is the best course of action.

the following should take place:
1. all light duties officers should be send to headquarter and
send all those officers which are full duty back to units where they can work for a living send all pregnant officers to call back immediately safety is very important.

2.remove the extra secretaries to these commanders they should only have one secretary everyone else back on the street.

3. remove all sworn timekeepers
and replace them with civilians

4. remove all school officers from the schools and back to the street the schools have there own security
some of them are off duty cpd anyway no need for officers to sit in an office for 8 hours and do nothing til something happens that is ridicious we need officer on the street not sitting inside an office doing nothing but sleeping reading newspaper or watching tv or playing on a computer or on the phone talking and have weekends off that is crazy we need to use these officers on the street.

5.use these foot post officers to take jobs if it close to them not hide or disappear til it time to go home use these squardol officer more not just for transports they should respond to every domestic or in progress jobs where they might be needed not sit in the station or in a restaurant.

Mike Krauser's report actually mentioned Pumpkinhead's going after Officer Cozzi after he had already paid for his mistake, expressed what I believe was true remorse, and that the Pumpkinhead at that point lost the department,,,I had to listen to the report again to make sure I wasn't just imagining things.

Maybe SSC should not be so hard on the news media at every turn. The stations and papers aren't powered by faceless, nameless idiots. They are run by in large by hard working professionals who get up everyday at all hours to go grind oit the news. I'm in the media and my father was a police officer. I come here because I'm a police supporter and have an interest in this City's police operations and morale. Here's a story that sheds light on an issue that is near and dear to SSC but you still can't put on your happy face. Let it go once and a while. It'll be OK.

trim the "D". Tons of pencil pushers everywhere who never put together a case and catch bad guys, just go round in circles, year after year, taking long, long lunches and gassing on the phones.. doesn't anybody check their Clearence-Arrest-Conviction rates ? Why pay D-2A pay to people who DON'T solve any crimes ?

Trim the Beat Cars. Lots of people who drive around in circles, year after year, blowing off reports and taking long lunches. Going down on hand waivers and gas and talking on the phone. Doesn't anyone check their activity? Why pay someone D1 pay who doesn't do their job in Patrol?

See how easy that was. Now lets stop fighting and stick together.

Okay, let's presume you really are a member of the media.

If you are as detail-oriented in your professional writing as you are here, then you've just illustrated the general perception of the media is warranted.

It's SCC, media person. Not SSC. Step one, be accurate.

I don't need lectures on how to be touchy-feely. I need my reporters to be accurate. Once I know they're accurate, then I can begin to believe they are credible.

"Maybe SCC should not be so hard on the news media at every turn..."

Maybe the news media would like to reciprocate in kind by calling off the war it declared on The Police?

You know... The people in the blue suits who do the bleeding, hurting, crying and dying in this forsaken by God city?

You know... The ones the media made convenient whipping boys as a distractor and shield for the misdeeds of Daley Inc.?

You know... The ones the media avidly portrayed to the weak-minded public as "out of control" when the ones who were REALLY out of control were busy robbing this city of every spare nickel of tax payer treasure?

You know... The media has the blood of Policemen on their hands by feeding into the propaganda that has dehumanized the very real people behind these tin & copper stars. The news media played an ACTIVE HAND in emboldening beyond belief a certain segment into BRAZEN, OUTRAGEOUS and REPEATED physical attacks on The Police while crying in sympathy for the criminals when the Police have the gall to mount a sprited defense of themselves and their comrades?

Apparently the news media thinks this season of hatred for The Police is amusing and makes for "good copy."

Just a question...

Does the news media expect for The Police to be good sports about all of this?

"c'mon guys! lighten up! you know how it is..."

Or are you picking up on the uneasiness of the public that The Police have become truly ambivalent if not having reached the point of not giving a damn for the sake of personal survival?

Are people worried that the "public servants" are turning their backs on the people as the people have turned their backs on the "public servants?"

Has the charm of "you knew it would be like this when you signed up, if you don't like it quit" worn off because people are now beginning to see what The Police are up against and no one is really wanting to take this job other than out of being un/underemployed? (which is the saddest and sorriest reason in the eyes of the third in a family line but we digress)

What say you, news media person?

We don't dare try to speak for SCC but there are, no doubt, many who would like to get answers from you.

By which we will govern ourselves accordingly so speak honestly.

Looking forward to your reply.

No one here thinks the papers are run by "faceless, nameless idiots". We KNOW they are run by ruthless men who are only interested in the bottom line (money) and pushing their agenda, whatever their particular flavor is.

Grow up and you'll realize that there is no neutral Fourth Estate reporting "just the facts". They report what they like, how they like.

Media Poster: You have the unmitigated gall to say "Lighten Up" After C.P.D. lost officers last year ,brutally murdered by savages, and the Media continues to portray the Police in a negative light. The only time something is written positively about the Police is when one of us loses his life on Duty. You are nothing but whores and bloodsucking leeches. ---25Yr Vet.

I find it rather shocking that none of the field SCC reporters have been able to unearth the story why the copper known as Ray Ray was dumped from the Rahm security team. You have 24 hrs to decide if you will accept this mission!!!

Lol! No... Not holding our breath at all.

Do you think we might have telegraphed our intent to take the hide off the poster in question?

No way in hell are we going to let bygones be bygones... This shit was and is personal and this joker thinks we're obligated to play nice. We will ALWAYS remember.

"c'mon guys! lighten up. you know how it is?"

Fuck That.

What happened to Cozzi could have happened to any one of us.

If the poster's father was The Police as he claims (and we doubt it) and this kid paid any attention growing up, he wouldn't have crafted his message the way he did.

They're getting scared... The "correction" IS coming.

I did pay attention growing up. "Don't argue with the police" is instinctual, not just by choice.
