Hillard to Visit Districts

  • Interim Chicago Police Superintendent Terry Hillard told police officers at a roll call gathering today in the Pullman neighborhood to focus on their duties and said he planned to visit every police district in the future.

Hillard was appointed by Mayor Richard Daley Wednesday to the interim post after former Supt. Jody Weis' contract expired and told officers at the gathering at 119th and Halsted Streets that it felt great to be back on the streets.
Hillard denies wanting the top spot under a Rahm administration, and he's supposedly told exempt staff that there will be no major movement during his tenure. We aren't sure why he's visiting all the districts unless it's a kind of nostalgia tour.

Hey "T", How about when you go around to all those disticts, units and areas, take a look around, not only are we down P.O.'s, but we are short to shit on Detectives and Sgts. as well, how about convincing Daley to push a class through before Rahmulus gets in and tears down all the lists!!? Thanks bud!

one big move in 008 that happened is that G. Fillipo was dumped from his inside position. This is a shocking move considering the influence from the previous administration. I heard that he ruffled one two many feathers in 008 and pissed off alot of people. I also heard, that female with 4 years on initials M.A. had him dumped because he was not cooperating with her by keeping her on the desk. Word around is that she had her uncle captain A. make a call downtown to have him removed. Will we ever get the true story? Now, I hear he is crying to anyone that will listen but nobody is helping. Could this move have anything to do with a new supt? We need answers because this is a huge move that has political ramifications within the department.

Why is he touring districts? Because he's the police, and he knows it's the right thing to do.

Shocker, isn't it? Considering the way we've been treated the past three years.

Not one of our over promoted merit inflated gold stars have what it takes to change this department and the politics of it. I hope the new mayor does what he says and chooses the best candidate and if its from within the ranks make sure they:

Been on the job at least 25 years
Working police with activity to prove it
Passed all exams, including lieutenant

That should narrow it down to about 4
candidates.

Hey Mr. Mayor- Elect here is a way to save a great deal of money.

Get rid of all exempt ranks. The highest rank needed aside from Supt. and Deputy Superintendent is Lieutenant.
Currently we have several sergeants that are acting as Commanders. Why then do we waste money creating positions that can be filled by Sgts. or Lieutenants. Not only can it be done easily as exempt members serve at the leisure of the Supt. It will also remove some of the burden put on our pension fund. For the current Captains, utilize them until they are all gone and make no more Captains after that.

The over inflated salaries of exempt ranks are costing the city in a time of need and draining our pension funds, it has to stop. Lets face it Lt's pay and a company car is still a pretty good deal. Their EGO's will survive this.

Amazing how you guys either forget or have no time on the job to remember that Hillard did absolutely nothing for the Patrol Division except throw many good officers under the bus with 30 days pending.

How is it that Penny gets to come back to work? Seems to me that when these types of allegations have been made against p.o.'s IAD comes out and pulls their police powers until the court case is over.

No because it was the right thing to do. He along with many other Lt's have been black balled by the possum head for supporting Lt Andrews. We were right to support him. By the way he did not creep in, the way the Possum head dumped him was a sneak by notifying JJ in an e-mail after he was already dumped. Much of the current command staff may be incompetent, but Hillard s here only as a place keeper.

Since Jody wouldn't stay on, Daley needed a temporary caretaker. He couldn't bring in another outsider and to give it to someone on the inside would be giving the inside track to a decision the new mayor should make. Hillard, a former insider, well respected is a good choice in this respect.

Now let them start the "national search" for the new superintendent.

Oh come on, are we that uninformed. You can't get a police pension for working 2 or 3 or 4 months, just like you cna't get one for working 3 years (JPW). Read the pension by-laws before you ask something. Learning how to find the answer is a great skill. Try it sometime.
