Parolee Slain

  • A parolee on electronic home monitoring was found shot to death in the backyard of his South Chicago neighborhood home this morning, police said.

Killed was Cedric Davis, 31, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Davis was found by police officers who went to the home in the 7900 block of South Manistee Avenue about 8:15 a.m. after calls to 911 reporting gunshots
  • Slain only five days after his birthday, Davis was on parole for a 2006 conviction for receiving/possessing a stolen vehicle, according to state records. He had two prior convictions on the same charge, as well as a felony drug conviction, records show.

Police had not made any arrests in the shooting as of tonight and didn't offer a motive.

Motive? How about he was an asshole and someone finally get fed up with his crap? Good riddance to someone who never contributed anything to society aside from crime statistics.

I'm sure some kind of lawsuit is forthcoming because after all if they would have kept him locked up he wouldn't have been kilt...

Maybe the family can sue IDOC for letting him out instead of keeping him in where he was safe. Or for confining him the electronic home monitoring to an area that obviously was not safe...

With all these people turning and have turned their life around-why is there still so much crime? It seems like everyone down South and West has turned around, goes to church and school and it working in a lab to cure (fill in deadly disease).

Never know....this could have been an old grudge, that festered with the killer while the 'victim' was doing his time. Sometimes these 'altercations' tend to work themselves out when the timing is right for those who felt slighted by the incident in question.

off topic a bit; 010 district making a bid for the homicide playoffs with 4 homicides in 4 days. 3 stabbings, 1 shooting, 3 gang bangers and 1 55 yr old stabbed to death by gang bangers. im not if any were predicted by the swami unit.

SCC, perhaps while sipping some aged spirits tonight you might ponder how many "victims" of homicide have devilishly asorted pasts that may include of all things IR#'s. I am not perplexed by the commonality of living within the lifestyle and thereby becoming a statistic of said lifestyle is commonplace. Some of us that subscribe to the entertainment value of your blog are all too familiar with this conundrum.

I think they should charge Anita Alvarez for not keeping the streets safe by doing her job and keeping repeat offender criminals off of Chicago streets.

This poor underprivileged youth has now been robbed of life by another poor underprivileged youth who has not been provided for by the county nanny state as it should have done.

Alvarez should know that hordes of young people bred for handouts by the government need to be herded into schools, fed and babysat all day until such time as they are old enough to be herded into custody for the inevitable lapses in behavior which should be expected.

For her to release them early shows very poor judgement on her part. Now there's one less vote for the Democratic Machine.

His entire life is not worth the electronic bits of space on this blog devoted to his passing. All his life he has been a taker, a consumer, he added nothing to the human condition and only consumed that which is produced by the labor of others.

The only sad part lies in the knowledge that there are so many like him still consuming valuable oxygen when they could be useful fertilizing farmers' fields with their remains.
