Daley to Keep Scamming
Sneed has learned Mayor Daley is requesting a retinue of at least three — around the clock — Chicago Police bodyguards from his mayoral security detail to accompany him into the private sector!
Sneed also hears whispers Mayor Daley, who retires May 16, wants two vehicles at his disposal; one for himself — and one for his wife, Maggie.
The request for personal security by Mayor Daley, concerned about serious safety threats, resulted in “the Chicago Police Department contacting the Secret Service to determine whether such security was necessary,” a top source said.
The upshot: “It was determined Mayor Daley needed the security for a period of time,” the source added.
What has yet to be determined is how long that period of time would be.
A second Sneed source claims Mayor Daley initially asked for five bodyguards, but that may have included a number needed for constant surveillance.
A history note: Although Mayor Jane Byrne, who lost her re-election bid to Harold Washington, did not leave office accompanied by a bodyguard detail, Sneed is told Mayor Eugene Sawyer — who occupied the office for a short period of time — was given a bodyguard. (Mayor Washington died in office.)
The buckshot: In a time of economic downturn, such surveillance is gonna cost the city big bucks, and may cause a brouhaha.
This jagoff is predicted to be making $50,000 per speech shortly. It sure sounds like he has the potential to be making more than enough money to hire his own private security. Protecting Shortshanks from imaginary threats seems like a luxury the city can't afford to shoulder.

I've been working yet another temporary assignment since last September and recently found out it will be ending soon. Today they let go a few of the temps already. Many of us commute from the city to the burbs where we're working because there are no white collar jobs. He can pay out of his own pocket and STOP milking our city dry. It's already ruined....
Didn't a car sit on his Mom's house until she died? I think a body guard of three 24/7 for a year would be fine. After a year, it should become a campaign issue for the Ramster. Since the public has a short memory this issue will probably go on until he dies. We aint ever going to get rid of this guy and his suckholes.

Speaking of scams, you should have een at last Tuesdays FOP board meeting. It turns out Dan Shields is the Shields with a brain. He made a motion to eliminate the $600a month stipend to the field reps because they no longer go out on police shootings and mind you they still recieve captains pay. With the new Shield transparency policy in place a motion is made to go into executive seesions so that the debate never sees the light of day. Mike emotionally argues that the field reps are all working very hard and putting in 8 hour days. The other reps allweigh in and surprisingly Dan Shields withdraws his motion. Dan you have to show the trops you have balls you should have called for a roll call vote so we know who the thieves are. I guess we have to target the entire board.

At least half of the people holding the rank of patrol officer are at D-2 or higher for special assignments, from detectives, to gang specialist, to crime lab to whatever.

Some cops are whores and will always be whores. I worked Special Employment recently and there were a couple of his bodyguard detail there, working for time and a half at the D3 rate they get for guarding the master criminal.
There will always be some who will sell out for some extra $$$. They make no excuses, they just want as much as they can get. They don't give a shit about the rest of us.
