Anita Says "No"

  • After calling for an investigation of how the Chicago Police Department handled David Koschman’s homicide, Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez now is blocking county Inspector General Patrick Blanchard from investigating how her office handled the case involving Richard J. “R.J.” Vanecko, a nephew of Mayor Daley and William Daley, President Obama’s chief of staff.

Blanchard sought to investigate the state’s attorney’s office after reports in the Chicago Sun-Times revealed that the prosecutor’s office has been unable to find any paperwork on the 7-year-old case — even though a top prosecutor determined there wasn’t enough evidence to warrant filing criminal charges against Vanecko.

“When this came to light, I thought it would be appropriate for our office to open an inquiry,” Blanchard said. “But the state’s attorney’s office rejected our request to open an inquiry, which would have meant interviews and document requests.”

Golly. Everyone else can call for an inquiry of the investigation up to and including the point that the phone calls were made to Felony Review, but the minute the focus leaves blaming the police department, a magical brick wall appears and stops things in their tracks. The excuse "it wasn't in writing" is bullshit and smells like bullshit and the other excuse claiming the county, which funds Anita's office, isn't able to be investigated by it's own oversight committee is ludicrous. Anita doesn't want anything interfering with that rumored federal judgeship.

Daley requests bodyguard detail after leaving office

Bodyguard brouhaha?

Sneed has learned Mayor Daley is requesting a retinue of at least three — around the clock — Chicago Police bodyguards from his mayoral security detail to accompany him into the private sector!

† Sneed also hears whispers Mayor Daley, who retires May 16, wants two vehicles at his disposal; one for himself — and one for his wife, Maggie.

A plan by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn to reform the state's workers compensation system now appears to include a requirement that a worker would not receive benefits for an injury if it was not incurred on the job.

This State would rather give shit away to those that haven't worked for what they are given.

Quit your job, go on unemployment and collect SSI.

I think the days of CPD taken the blame for skyrocketing crime should be coming to an end. We should start making the CCSAO accountable for how many S.O.L's and Nolle Prose they use in the branch courts. We should bring this up at the beat meetings and get the people involved. I think the average citizen would be appauled by what overworked state's attorney's office gets away with. I talked to a Crestwood cop about the differences of their branch courts and ours in the city. 2.5 grams of weed doesn't get tossed by the state when the case is called, unless u are in the city. All this shows is that is no consequence for getting arrested. The only time there is any is when u get charged with a felony. FUck the CCSAO. Lets not let them get away with the bullshit they have been pulling for decades. Overworked my ass.

This story is getting old. I'l repeat what I said in an earlier post.

Not only were the line-ups negative, but the witnesses POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED a filler as the offender. The line-up was even stacked in favor of the offedner because Police Officers were used as fillers. Who knows, the line-ups may have even been thrown out in a motion from the defense.

Right then and there, the case is fucked.

Second, Jagoff refused to make a statement (confession) which, as we all know, he has the right to do.

This case is now officially dead. No charges will ever be approved by an ASA.

But the case was still presented to the State who chose to rejected charges. They could have easily C.I.'d it which would have thrown it back to us, but they didn't... so that is on them.

It's a shame the Sun Times continues to run with this non- story while leaving their comment section open for every idiot to rant against the CPD with idiotic conspiracy theories.

DUI, sex assault charges filed after fatal bus wreck in Streeterville

Only in the Cook County criminal justice system do you have to commit a second crime in order to be found/taken into custody on another crime.

The only thing keeping the streets from utter and complete chaos is the patrol officer. After that, it's anyone's guess.

Of course they have to stop. The IG is not allowed to investigate aldermen in chicago and they are not allowed to investigate the ASA's office in cook county.

The chicago city council has had how many aldermen arrested in the past twenty years? That makes it one of the most corrupt governmental bodies in the state.

And the cook county judicial system would have been COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN after Operation Greylord or the corruption found there among judges and lawyers making it the most corrupt judicial body.

There is no justice here. If you want justice in cook county, you have to make it for yourself. That's a fact.

Mayor Daley: Keeping bodyguards after leaving office ‘appropriate’

BY FRAN SPIELMAN

May 5, 2011 1:49PM

"Mayor Daley on Thursday defended his request to continue using Chicago Police officers as bodyguards after he leaves office — a courtesy that former Mayor Jane Byrne never received and considers unnecessary.

“There’s been threats all through my career. …The safety of my family comes first,” said Daley, who leaves office on May 16.

“I’ve been mayor for 22 years and my wife has made a commitment [to the city]. … Former mayors received security appropriately. … It’s appropriate for every former mayor. Yes, it’s always appropriate.”

"Daley refused to comment on reports that he had requested a pair of vehicles in political retirement —one for himself, the other for his wife, Maggie, who is battling breast cancer and remains hospitalized with flu-like symptoms.

"Pressed on whether he had requested around-the-clock protection, Daley said, “No, no. I didn’t say that. The police department will handle that — not me.”

Governor Quinn Does Not Want "Secure Communities" In Illinois

Illinois Drops "Immigrant" Screening Program

By SOPHIA TAREEN Associated Press

6:00 p.m. CDT, May 4, 2011

CHICAGO—

"Illinois will pull out of a controversial federal program that automatically checks the immigration status of arrestees, Gov. Pat Quinn announced Wednesday, making Illinois one of the first states to take a stance against the so-called "Secure Communities" program.

"Quinn sent U.S. Immigration and Customs and Enforcement a letter Wednesday saying Illinois is withdrawing over concerns of a "flawed" program that hasn't fulfilled its original mission.

"Under Secure Communities, the FBI shares fingerprints with the Department of Homeland Security's records so that whenever someone is arrested their immigration status is checked automatically. The idea was to remove individuals convicted of serious crimes who are living in the U.S. illegally. ICE has worked aggressively to expand the program, which is in effect in more than 1,200 jurisdictions in 42 states..."

Just another reason to give the people of this fair city what they want from their police department...AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE.

The citizenry voted these pathetic motherf***ers into office, then wonder why they constantly get it stuck in their collective butt.

The police everywhere are constantly middled in this whole existence, the perfect whipping boys regardless of which side is more to blame. We are the bad guys regardless of the outcome of any given scenario. "The POLICE botched/covered-up this case because Vanecko's related to mayor Daley." "The POLICE shoulda/coulda done it differently/better."....ad nauseum...

While we can't have any kind of organized work action/slowdown, I will continue to be one of many to encourage laying down unless it involves family, friends, co-workers, good neighbors etcetera. The majority of society has made it abundantly clear what they think of us...now it's time to let them wallow in the consequences of their misguided and misplaced hatred of the police. The police being the same people they'll be calling to save their pathetic asses when the shit hits the fan.

Until the status quo is voted out and the police can be the police again, you folks are on your own. Sorry, but it's all about me now.

And "Anita Says "No"" won't really mean s**t when thousands and thousands of coppers figure out how to apply that same, simple word when it comes to proactivity, generating revenue and overall work performance.

OT: RIP Alvin Weems.

A Chicago police officer who fatally shot an unarmed man on a CTA train platform in 2003 was found dead today at his West Side home in what authorities suspect is a suicide.

Alvin Weems, 51, was found dead at his home in the 4900 block of West Crystal Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The office, citing preliminary details, said Weems shot and killed himself, but an official cause of death won’t be determined until an autopsy is performed on his body Friday.

In March 2003, 23-year-old Michael Pleasance was shot in the head on the 95th Street CTA Red Line station. At the time, police officials contended Pleasance struggled with Weems and tried to take away his gun. But a year and a half later, the judge in the Pleasance family’s civil lawsuit ordered the release of the CTA security camera video.

The Police Department then revised its story and said Pleasance was approaching Weems, as if to attack him. But the video showed no contact was made before Weems opened fire.

In a December 2006 deposition, Weems admitted he did not fear for his life when he shot Pleasance, and did not believe the shooting was justified. But Weems also stated the shooting wasn’t intentional.

A jury awarded Pleasance’s family $12.5 million in December 2007, but an appellate court overturned that award in 2009. In March, the City Council’s Finance Committee recommended that $3 million be paid to Pleasance’s family.

"DUI, sex assault charges filed after fatal bus wreck in Streeterville"

--5/05/2011 10:06:00 AM

Yeah, talk about having things come unglued all of a sudden...

May 5, 2011 (CHICAGO) (WLS) --

"A man charged with DUI in a crash that killed a woman in Streeterville Tuesday also faces charges in an unrelated case involving child sex abuse.

"David Soto, 47, of the 8600-block of West Berwyn, is charged with aggravated DUI after the bus he was driving struck and killed a woman in Streeterville. Justyna Palka, 27, was killed Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the 500-block of North Columbus Drive. Soto was driving the tour bus that struck her, police say.

"A statement from the Chicago Police Department states during the traffic investigation they learned Soto was wanted "in connection to an investigation of sex offenses involving children." In that unrelated case, Soto faces one count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 13.

"In court Thursday prosecutors said Soto admitted to making a right turn onto Columbus as Palka was crossing but said he didn't see anyone. Prosecutors said Soto stopped after hearing two thumping sounds and called 911. Prosecutors also said he had cocaine in his system.

"Prosecutors requested no bail for Soto due to his history and an outstanding issue. In 1982, he was convicted for the attempted rape of a 17-year-old. In 1993, he was convicted for aggravated sexual assault of a 6-year-old relative. And in 2009, Chicago police issued an alert for Soto due to allegations of sexually abusing an 8-year-old and 6-year-old in 2008..."

Oh. Is that what you call an "issue" today? (pfft)

OT: Just got the news that one of our own took his life today and i need to say this: I worked with him briefly and did not know him well, and for that I am sincerely sorry. He came to our unit "with baggage" and i never tried very hard to get to know him. It was much easier to just avoid him. He had been involved in an on duty incident some years ago, and i fear the continuous backlash of that day played a major part in his decision.

We should not ostracize our own - but we do, and I intend to make a serious effort to change. I can only hope and pray that AW is at peace now. God knows i didn't do much to give it to him while he was here. I am truly sorry for his family.

~ Everyone involved keeps acting guilty;

~ Agencies don't want to investigate or BE investigated,

At some point this guy finds a 2x4 and whacks another guy in the noggin. That act of Agg. Batttery cost him a 3 yr prison sentence down in Centralia.
Now, this 'nobody' gets a mandatory sentence, but Familias Daley gets a pass....twice.

Heard today that FOP is supporting a bill that was in Springfield on the house floor for the use of Medical Marijuana. If that's the case why? FOP says they won't use resources to make a comment on any Conceal Carry Legislation yet they come out and support Medical Marijuana. The majority of the FOP membership, seems to be in favor of Conceal Carry and FOP say's they don't want to use resources to support the bill yet they support Medical Marijuana? How can this be FOP? You use resources to Support Medical Marijuana but not Conceal Carry. FOP needs to be accountable to the Membership of what they are doing in Springfield.

'Hey Obama. Get away from the hole in the ground in New York, leave the firemen and police there alone, and quit endangering the SEALs "by wanting to thank them" for your personal political aggrandizement.

You had nothing to do with September 11, and next to nothing to do with bin Laden's elimination, which just happened to work out on your watch.

A real class act would have said NOT A WORD and simply let Pakistan make a puzzled-sounding announcement, once they had picked through the debris and figured out that something untoward had occurred.

Quit milkin' it.

You are NOTHING but a politician -- "an empty vessel into which the nation pours its hopes and dreams," as it were.

I'll pass. You can keep the T-shirt, too.'

YOU need to shut your pie hole, sir. The President ok'd the mission that brought this international terrorist to justice. If he wants to take a victory lap, he's entitled. He got the job done. There will be other challenges for him to meet in the future, maybe sooner than you think. You can judge him on those as those challenges arise, but if he wants to go to Ground Zero and have a celebration, he and the New Yorkers who lived through that nightmare are more than entitled to do so.

'She's a fraud, but the real story of the day is that Mike Masters is the new head of Cook County's Homeland Security (gag)!'

And you know Rahm petitioned Preckwinkle to do it.
Shameful, all around. The taxpayers shouldn't forget this come the next CCB Presidential election. Preckwinkle also made room for a female alderman who lost re-election. For someone who ran on the
platform of being a 'reformer' she's starting to look
an awful lot like the Toddler.
Masters was a complete disgrace as the de-facto 2nd in command of the CPD during his 2+ years in that position; a man who singlehandedly set the CPD back at least 6 to 10 years, by most estimates. The only good thing about his new job is that no City employees will have anything to do with soon-to-be former mayor Daley's ball warmer.

And the newspapers are again printing Madigans statement that we need to get used to the idea that we won't be getting what was promised in our pensions.

These cock suckers will need more than a security detail if they try that shit. A division of Marines would be needed.

He hasn't driven himself anywhere in decades. He'd have to get a learner's permit and start all over again.

Seriously, though, enough already. ONE car, as a courtesy, is all he should get. Oh, wait; he has that now. A 001st dist car sits outside the house 24/7 now. Plus his police department detail of chauffeurs and dry cleaning fetchers.

ONE marked car on HIS house only (not Patrick's, not Nora's), one security person WHEN RESIDING IN CHICAGO, not traveling to Michigan or China. Period.

With all her new jobs (including the one Rahm named her to today), Nora can buy her own damned security firm.
