It is good to hear the first account of the shooting being given by our spokesman, Pat Camden. In response, the department is playing catch-up, and said they would release "details" later today.

Without Pat Camden there would be no police version coming out after these, just the same old "the poleese murdered my poor mother fucking baby" bullshit screamed by a would-be ghetto lottery ticket holder.

BEWARE IF UR FAMILY GOES TO THE UNITES CENTER!

PACKS OF M/1/TEENS
RUNNING UP TO UNITED CENTER PATRONS AFTER EVENTS AND ROBBING THEM BLIND. THEY FORM A CIRCLE AROUND THE VICTIM TO PREVENT THEM FROM RUNNING AND BEGIN THE SNATCHING.

DONT THINK ALL THOSE FANCY CAMERAS HELP.
ALL THEY SEE IS SOME COLOR ON CLOTHES AND THATS IT.
IT TAKES HOURS BEFORE ANYONE IS REVIEWING ANY TYPE OF VIDEO FOR THE CITY AND THE UNITED CENTER AND BY THEN THE BAD GUYS ARE GONE
.

RUMOR:
12 DIST COMMANDER GETTING NERVOUS FEELS HIS TROOPS ARE GUN SHY.
SNEEDLESS TO SAY WILL MCCARTHY EVER MOVE ANY COMMANDERS?

Chicago police shot and killed a man in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, officials said this morning.

The shooting occurred after a motorist was robbed at gunpoint of his Ford pickup truck at about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 10700 block of South Michigan Avenue in the Roseland neighborhood, according to police union officials.

After flagging down a passing Calumet District squad car, the victim gave police a description of gunman, and officers quickly broadcast it over police radio, Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said.

About 10 minutes later, officers in another squad car spotted a Ford F150 truck near the intersection of 100th Street and Calumet Avenue and called for backup, fearing that the driver might flee when they approached, Camden said.

The truck's driver indeed fled before backup arrived, leading officers on a brief pursuit that ended with the truck crashing into a tree in the 10500 block of South Lafayette Avenue. The truck's driver fled on foot before being tackled twice by officers who gave chase, Camden said.

After being tackled by officers the second time, the driver reached for something, leading an officer to believe he was reaching for a weapon, Camden said. Fearing for his life, the officer shot the driver, who later died, Camden said. A weapon from the suspect was recovered, he added.

None of the officers involved was injured, he added. Police determined that the pickup driven by the dead man was the same one taken in the carjacking, Camden said.

A police spokesman wouldn't confirm Camden's account, saying police officials would release details later today.

A source told the Tribune the suspect was dead at the scene.

The dead man was an 18-year-old who lived on the block where the truck crashed into the tree, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The Tribune is withholding the man's identity pending family notification.

A spokesman with the Independent Police Review Authority, which investigates police shootings, confirmed that a shooting involving officers had occurred, but had no other details.

Some legislators want to slash police and fire pensions but is the legislature about to give the millionaires at the Merc a tax break?

According to Greg Hinz at Crain's Chicago Business the CME reported taxable income of 1.7 Billion last year. Hinz also reports that Senate President Cullerton met with the head of CME Tuesday and emerged from the meeting stating that Cullerton was willing to consider tax changes that would benefit the CME.

Wow, the Tribune is really doing a political cleansing of its comments boards.

On one of the few open comment boards left, I posted a link back here so people could read for themselves the 6/15/2011 12:37:00 AM report that the downtown wildings are still occurring but going unreported.

They yanked it.

Since we usually only hear crap said about us, thought I'd share this email from a resident to a CAPS facilitor who passed it on. It was sent last night about 21:00.

"Such a nice feeling...when I stepped onto my front porch just now to finish off a glass of wine and a police SUV slowly cruises by on Huron—and the officer waves at me. Wow. I can’t imagine living anywhere else!"

A friendly wave can go a long way...

Well, channel 7 just reported the mob wilding attack on the po's kid right outside the commuter station at 100 s. Clinton.
Big, scary stuff for the suburban commuters. Maybe now it hits home, when they realize it can, and will, happen to them, too.
Oh, and a GUN was displayed this time.
