Door Damaged

This was a beautiful door:
  • A man is dead after running into a glass door at his South Side Woodlawn neighborhood home while being chased by police officers Monday night.

Jonrynn Avery, 24, of 6243 S. Vernon Ave., was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County at 9:09 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s officer.

At 8:25 p.m., Chicago Police officers saw a 25-year-old man firing a handgun and then run into a home in the 6200 block of South Vernon Avenue, according to police News Affairs.

The man then ran into a glass door and suffered multiple cuts to his body, police said.

Oh wait, it was his own door? Reclassified to suicide.

Oh, no; the injustice of it all!! That door was just standing there, waiting for a ride to Rhodes Scholar Prep Class.

It had just polished up its act, after being only a lowly basement door for many years and was now on its rise to cathedral door!

It was never a bad door and never hung on rusty or uneven hinges like the other doors!

A small door memorial has been placed in front of the scene of its demise. A few brass pulls, a pile of wood shavings and one glorious glass doorknob serve to memorialize its passing.

Retaliatory door destruction is expected, so be careful out there...

Missing Brooklyn Boy Found Dismembered, Suspect Confessed & Arrested

The missing Brooklyn boy was found dismembered and killed. On Wednesday, body parts of the 8-year-old Leibby Kletzky were discovered in both the refrigerator of 35-year-old Levi Aron and in a dumpster about 2 miles away from Aron's residence.

The boy's feet, along with a bloody cutting board and blood stains, were found in the refrigerator. Meanwhile, other parts of his body were in a suitcase in the dumpster, reported NY Daily News.

Kletzky went missing on Monday afternoon. He was on his way home (walking by himself) from summer camp for the first time and got lost. He then approached Aron, who had just made a payment to a dental office nearby, likely to ask for directions home.

Aron then convinced the boy to get in his 1990 Honda Accord, took the boy to his attic apartment, and ultimately killed him.

After the boy went missing on Monday, Aron was soon identified through the aid of a surveillance camera tape. When the police tracked him down and busted through his apartment on Wednesday, Aron confessed to the murder.

Off Topic: Doty is famous!

Went to see the new movie "Horrible Bosses" today with some of my co-workers at the UCPD. WOW! No one ever said that one of the characters in the movie was based on our own UCPD 1st Deputy Chief John Doty. Kevin Spacey really nailed Doty's character down, an excellent portrayal! The only thing different about Kevin Spacey and Doty is that Spacey's character is married in the movie, and everyone who knows Doty knows that will never happen in JD's life; he'd have to actually LIKE women.

There was another male lead character in the movie, one we heard was based on J-Fled; That character got himself capped a little more than halfway through the movie.

The female cop (JE) working beat 1905 days is an embarrassment to all cops, male or female. A recent refuge from the commander's office she is on the street in name only. She refuses assignments and refuses orders from sergeants and won't log on or answer to sergeants. Her reply, "I work for the Commander, go talk to him."

Down most of the day on "details from the commander's office." Real piece of work.

WTF???? I am glad some others questioned this guy, Mr. "He is just a suspect".

I had to read it a couple of times because I could not believe this guy's logic is SO warped.

I hope he wrote this sarcastically as well because if he was serious we have some REAL problems in Chicago.

I can just see this guy on a jury or worse yet, some school bureaucrat. Are we educating our kids to come out this obtuse?

Anyone who runs from the police gets what they deserve. Start teaching that in schools. CPS seems pretty deficient in that area.

Due process???? Don't use words you don't have a clue about. A suspicious character creates an instant judgment call for police.

If that cop hesitates, he (AND his partner) could be toast - especially in some of these Chicago neighborhoods.

Would you be asking about "due process" if the cop got killed or injured?

This guy should be more concerned about the innocent family guy that got shot in front of the Bar-BQ place. Now THAT was sad.

Or to michigan avenue where the stores get rushed by groups of un-described mobs steal from the store, or to englewood where a little kid gets shot while "bringing in the dog", or to the barbecue place where the worker got killed out in front, or to 95th street where another un-described individual pulled a gun on the police and got killed for his efforts, or to North Halsted where the gay guy got jumped and stabbed while walking down the street, or to the parking lot of the 7th district where our officer was gunned down, or the front of the Bailey or Wortham houses or a quiet street near 85th and California where another officer was gunned down. Just keep moving around and attempting to hide the truth.

A truth which people of all colors and races and religions and sexual orientations of this city know only too well.

In the same way that Bonds and McGuire cannot be confused with Mays and Musial, no one in the news business in this town will ever be confused with Murrow, Cronkite, Royko or Breslin.

You should all be ashamed.

hey boys and girls in blue
cpd is way under paid
pam zekman finds it takes 3 workers on the city payroll to change a light bulb in an alley street light , 1 truck driver $72,000 , 2 electricians making $85,000 a year , one changes light bulb other one sits in a lawn chair
rahm says that's the rules of contract
FOP - we are FORCED to work 1 man cars , respond to calls in dark alley , what do you think about that Supt Garry McCarthy

CPD Officers are the bottom of priority in Democratic party

every one of above employees make more than most police officers

Pam Zekman follow that crew , bet they don't change more than 6 light bulbs a day

this city is a joke

Oh, no; the injustice of it all!! That door was just standing there, waiting for a ride to Rhodes Scholar Prep Class.

It had just polished up its act, after being only a lowly basement door for many years and was now on its rise to cathedral door!

It was never a bad door and never hung on rusty or uneven hinges like the other doors!

A small door memorial has been placed in front of the scene of its demise. A few brass pulls, a pile of wood shavings and one glorious glass doorknob serve to memorialize its passing.

Retaliatory door destruction is expected, so be careful out there...

Yes, but that's because we don't contribute anything to the party.

Those guys take their own time off to work the polling places and going door to door in the city and suburbs to keep the Democrats in power and to get new ones elected, especially in the suburbs.

They also spend a fair amount of money buying tickets to political fund raisers.

They're also members of an actual union, one that likely gives money to those same politicians.

"How about this eh.. Just like that Latin American drug cartel culture -- coming soon to a lawless tribal sanctuary city, zone of impunity community near you..

"Missing Brooklyn Boy Found Dismembered, Suspect Confessed & Arrested

"The missing Brooklyn boy was found dismembered and killed. On Wednesday, body parts of the 8-year-old Leibby Kletzky were discovered in both the refrigerator of 35-year-old Levi Aron and in a dumpster about 2 miles away from Aron's residence.

"The boy's feet, along with a bloody cutting board and blood stains, were found in the refrigerator..."

--7/13/2011 03:33:00 PM

This was what is admittedly a statistically uncommon Jewish-on-Jewish murder; photos I've seen and the the "Brooklyn" dateline makes me suspect that it occurred within the Hasidic community.

The defendant's lawyers are already talking insanity plea -- " hearing voices that commanded him to do terrible things, etc. "

Tha Latin gang culture does things like this for money; kidnaping near-penniless immigrants from other Central American countries and then beating them to death with sledgehammers when no ransom is paid. Arizona police have repeatedly raided really nice, expensive new houses that were being used as prisons by the Zetas and other gangs, close to 100 illegals being held there for ransom.

Not "coming soon," but already here...

Back in the day in a far southside district some cops parked their Benz's on the angle taking up two and three slots in a very small lot and refused to move them when other coppers complained. A few years later most of them were indicted and went to prison so we got the parking spaces back. These things have a way of working themselves out.

In my many years experience, a problem like this is oft best handled by a gray haired elder, usually a sergeant, who would call the young Jedi asside and counsel in the ettiquite of respect for your co-workers.

Sadly part of the plan of Richie, Jody, Rahm and McG is to rid us of these wise old men, and women.

And to the person who asked, a "PPO" is a Probationary Police Officer. A rookie, someone who is sworn, but who has not completed 18 months on the job and can be discharged on the stroke of a pen.
