Police Shoot, Kill Gunman

  • A person was fatally wounded this afternoon when authorities said he exchanged gunfire with police in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

About 4:20 p.m. police were flagged down near Madison Street and Parkside Avenue by witnesses who said shots had been fired in the area, and officers located a vehicle matching the description reported, according to a preliminary statement from the Office of News Affairs.

A male suspect fled the vehicle on foot and as officers pursued he pointed a weapon at them and fired shots. Police returned fire, striking the suspect, according to the statement. No police were wounded.
Best wishes to the involved Officers.

The "Orange One" struck again, even going so far as to give a subtle dig at the Bossholes when he referenced the "irony" of the officer(s) involved being transplants from the recently disbanded MSF. Way to keep the manpower Smoke & Mirrors game on the front burner.

Camden is money well spent. Hopefully whatever momentum he starts can be maintained through contract talks time, for what it's worth.

Good job by the Good Guys. Glad none of our own were hurt.

Whatever else the "Shields Team" does or doesnt do, the hiring of Pat Camden was a stroke of Genius. On the Chicago breaking news article about Sat nights shooting in 015. I see Camden quoted all over as the spokesman for the Fraternal Order of Police. Just like ive seen in other articles its like the press ignores the dept. spokesman whenever he is around. And boy I bet that pisses them off. Heres to you Pat, those relationships you have with the press are really paying off.

Keep killin' 'em!

Fuck any and everybody who gets in the way of a copper going home to his/her family and loved ones.

The Police seem to be lighting these fools asses on fire...

Point/discharge a weapon at the Police?

The result is "suicide by cop."

Heh...

Bet the majority of the public, alderfools, bossholes, runnin' dog rev'runs and and "violence interrupters" and the anal whore local media are rolling around on the ground foaming at the mouth and biting themselves at the notion of coppers doing what they do best which is surviving...

Remember. The Police are the enemy in Chicago...

Not these worthless dead dog catered to constituents running around pointing and shooting guns at the Police.

They're the real heroes and princes of this city.

4425 is representing. Great job officers. I wonder if PK knew the quality of officers he let go for these area teams. Oh well, the officers are better off without him. The biggest thing is that all of the officers are okay. Screw the bosses and the decision makers. Watch each others back.

How can a person be fatally wounded? Sounds like the reporter flunked Compostition 101.

Otherwise good job in both shootings and a continued great job by Mr Camden. Money well spent, I agree.

If you're not training, you're risking your life. This is becoming an all too frequent occurrence after a year in which we lost five officers.

Practice with your firearms.

great job, now enjoy the rest of the summer off, with stress! Make sure your weapons are clean and work well. Last year went to FOP gun day where the reps from gun companies examine your gun. Brought my S&W 669 and they opened it and said the top slide was "dirty" the guy took it apart various parts taken off, told me this weapon needed work and is not OK. Now before I took it there I shot 150 rounds all worked perfectly, after it was cleaned by a professional took it to the CPD range and after 2 rounds it jammed, cleared it and again same thing. rangemaster asked what was wrong, told him the story,he tried it with another clip you guessed it jammed again. So being a gunsmith himself he kept the gun as he was perplexed also, the result the slide was BENT obviously from the gun smith. Moral of the story gun safety days are great but when your done get to a range ASAP and make sure it fires properly the old adage the "Life you save may be your own" applies here!

How stupid can these people be to shoot it out with police?

Better to just get the hell out and lay low for a few days and let things blow over and move on. No one is going to come after some minor criminal after a few days. There are just no resources to go after minor crooks that are not almost immediately identified.

Even if you manage to actually shoot the cop and survive unscathed (which seems to not happen real often), the rest of the cops are just going to come get you. Cops never forget it when one of their own is shot. It might take ten years, but cop killers virtually always get caught.

Just like bank robbers. Given the apprehension rate for bank robbers is closing in on 100%, you would think that would be a deterrent.

There is just something not right with the way these people think.

On all news AM 780 WBBM Camden was the only one quoted in the story. Good quote!! No official word from the department. It came across as what Camden said was the ONLY official word!!! Genius move FOP!!!!

A sacry fact has emerged with all this violence as of late. Seems our little criminal friends have no worry about shooting at the police. Shooting at cops is nothing new but there seems to be a whole lot more of it going on. No fear? Seems like it.

I've always liked Pat Camden.

I went to the gun day at the Lodge this year and had a couple of weapons looked at. A rifle and a revolver. Next year I'll have them look at a couple of others. The other poster is correct, if you have work done on a firearm, use it right away to make sure it works.

4425 is "representing"?? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS !?!??! Grow the fuck up, frat-boy. This ain't college and it sure as hell ain't some gang party. "Representing"...you are what's wrong with this department, no doubt. You'll be the next asshole we read about getting locked up for interfering with the police on a search warrant.

This job is DEAD. And 738 AM is why.

I see some comments being drafted specific to the work done by former members of the 4425 team from Unit 153. It’s true that these Officers have done a fine job in their respective districts. You have all done a spectacular job since being separated, and command the respect of peers as always. Please don't dwell on the past, move forward with your dignity intact, I’m proud of the fact that you continue to distinguish yourselves as the best there is. I have always known this to be true even when others resented you for insignificant things.
Your Sergeant and friend, Stay safe boys.

Great job officers no matter if you are former MSF, SOS, or Bt. Coppers you did a great job and are exceptional officers who will do good no matter where you are. Please be safe!!
and now E.R. you need to shut up about 4425 representing (P.K. got you right) and represent those teeth with some toothpaste and floss. Grow up we are all blue no matter what we do in the department. Be glad your teamates are o.k. and leave it at that. Don't embarass yourself anymore.
