First up, WBBM outright lies in its coverage:
- Violent mob attacks inside the festival grounds have marred the Wisconsin State Fair in suburban Milwaukee.
WDJT-TV, CBS 58 Milwaukee reports 24 arrests were made Thursday night, after hundreds of people started fighting in and around the fairgrounds. The arrests were made within the grounds in West Allis, Wis.
Seven Wisconsin State Fair police officers were injured in the attacks, WDJT reported. One officer was hit with a weapon, while another suffered a concussion. Both were hospitalized.
WDJT reports police say the attacks were not racially motivated.
But a quick search of Wisconsin media reveals a different story:
- Witnesses tell Newsradio 620 WTMJ and TODAY'S TMJ4 of a mob of young people attacking innocent fair-goers at the end of the opening night of State Fair, with some callers claiming a racially-charged scene.
Milwaukee Police confirmed there were assaults outside the fair.
Witnesses' accounts claim everything from dozens to hundreds of young black people beating white people as they left State Fair Thursday night. - According to witnesses, a group of anywhere from 30 to 100 young black men descended on the Wisconsin State Fair last night, beating fairgoers and looting carnival games, in what witnesses said were racially-motivated attacks
And that's just two out of a dozen reports we read today. We try to be even handed here and we censor out the most blatantly racist crap that pops up in the comment sections, but the Chicago media, CBS in particular, seems determined to paint a picture of lies and distortions in everything it touches lately, and we for one are getting sick and tired of it.

There should be a tier system for working in these Areas. A police officer handling 25+ jobs daily does not equal an officer who is handling 1job in others. The promotional system, in part, should be based on that concept too.
I cannot see exempts from slow districts being Chiefs and Deputy Supers- not enough BS that they have to deal with for them to understand what to do
I say x- TRU and MSF are worth having them in the busiest districts. Much safer for the rest of us, collectively.
And people in slower districts should be able to volunteer or switch for a day or two to busier districts. It's good experience, and the ' union- all for one system" will be at work.

In places that should be a getaway to everyday strife like a state fair or an event on the lake, having some savage animal gang intimidate people is wrong.
One day they will walk into the wrong event and instead of being the intimidators they will become a bloody carnage.
Notice how I did not say victims. You're no victim if you intend bodily harm and then get your head handed to you.
Apologists like Quinn better re-think concealed carry. At this point, it really doesn't matter.

The two Milwaukee Alderman who showed their cojones with the press release were pretty much spot on and should be commended for their candor. I suspect however, that they will be chided and derided for telling the truth.

After reading the various accounts out there it seems that groups of these young scholars went from beating on each other initially to other targets of opportunity. Those targets were mostly white, but I'm sure the scholars would have happily beaten anyone who got in their way. They're open minded that way. Sort of a rainbow coalition of victims.
I'm surprised those Milwaukee aldermen wrote that letter. It's true though. Generation after generation of welfare dependency, screwed up or missing parents, horrible schools, etc have led to this stupidity. When you're considered a scholar if you're 19 years old and a high school junior something is wrong.
The short term answer is a criminal justice system that functions. The long term answer is the coming male birth control pill and the end to baby's daddy drama. There is nothing to be proud of in knocking girls/women up and then disappearing from the lives of the children. Shit, disappearing is not the right word. That suggests that the baby's daddy was ever there.
As we saw in the last census in Chicago the black middle class is leaving the city proper. It's partly because they too are sick of dealing with these type of criminal idiots.
In the last two weeks, WBBM intentionally falsified two news broadcasts: The little kid who wanted to be a police officer and this racially motivated attack in Milwaukeem

Anyone have this weeks numbers on the people shot by criminals in Chicago compared to criminals shot by the police?
There were similar problems in Cheeseland on the 4th of July festivities. Seems the police were undermanned at the opening day of the fair. Plus from what I've read there are 3 police forces involved.
Milwaukee, West Allis, and the fair has it's own police force with jurisdiction ONLY on the fairgrounds. Want to bet they don't coordinate very well. It's great to have a fair police force, but since most of the problems occurred just outside the fairgrounds it might make sense to extend their jurisdiction a bit.
There will be a massive police presence for the rest of the fair. I suspect the problems are over for the immediate future.
Now the thugs and thugettes will have to move their game somewhere else and the police will have to play catchup.

Hey SCC, thought you and the other hundreds of Coppers who live in 016 would love this info. For the last 2 weeks 016 has been borrowing 4 pos from 015 to cover the midnight shift. Tonight sat for sun 015 has no bodies to loan, so there are no early cars on midnights. Yes that is correct 6 of 12 cars down tonight.
3rd watch Rapids to work mandatory 2 hours over time and tact starting at 1900 to help cover. But remember there is not a man power shortage.
Tough times ahead for all. Saddest part is the loss of faith in the cops. The folks running the show are creating some bad perceptions by not doing something about this from the get go.
My take? Soon enough someone is going to get cornered by a bunch like this intent on wasting him and he is going to be carrying. When that happens he will unload on his attackers and ruin their chances of becoming astronauts and stuff.

That was a great release by the alderman. It appears to be honest and forthright. It's also true, the African American communities that are left in the larger and mid sized cities inner cities are the ones that will never be able to escape. Anyone with half a nickle have moved to greener pastures. So we are stuck policing an area full of people that represent the absolute bottom of society. I look around in Englewood and I'm not sure where you would start to solving that communities problem and more police is not the answer. This problem will only be solved when they start taking care of themselves and bring back some sort of family structure. The last two generations are a complete write off at this point and if they don't take a long hard look at themselves the next 10 generation will be marginalized as well.

The Wisconsin State Fair is one of the friendliest and funnest places I have ever been to. As a lifelong Chicago native I especially enjoy it because( until this incident) I felt safe bringing my family their to escape the shitty and violent events that are the Taste and Air & Water show. Now look at this, the honor roll students are turning this event into another free for all. Beating defenseless white families and ruining everyone else's good time just because they are too stupid and ghetto to act like respectable human beings. It is their own fault and the fault of their parents that no one wants them around.
As a hispanic male I will tell all the readers here (officer and civilian alike) if I ever saw a group of people, does not matter if they are black, white,hispanic, asian, or martian, randomly attacking people I would shoot every single one of them. If you want to act like a rabid animal then I will put you down like one.
I am glad that I (and I am sure most of the readers here) were raised to respect everyone for the way they act and not what they look like. These kids and the parents that refuse to raise them correctly, are destroying everything that their grandparents and others fought so hard to gain during the civil rights movement. Their way of being will lead back to the riots and back to the segregation. I know that no race is free of hatred but the black community is its own worst enemy and has been for a long time. The violence left workers and patrons of the fair in West Allis shaken and reminded many of the mob-like disturbances that occurred over the Fourth of July weekend in Milwaukee.
The trouble at the fair started around 7 p.m. Thursday in the midway area, where amusement rides are located, when fights broke out among black youths, said Tom Struebing, chief of the State Fair Police. Those fights did not appear to be racially motivated.
Then around the closing time of 11 p.m., witnesses told the Journal Sentinel, dozens to hundreds of black youths attacked white people as they left the fair, punching and kicking people and shaking and pounding on their vehicles.
At least 31 people were arrested - many for disorderly conduct - in connection with the incidents on the fairgrounds and on the streets outside. At least 11 people, seven of them police officers, were injured, officials said. Twenty-four people were arrested within the fairgrounds by State Fair Police. West Allis police arrested seven people, five of them juveniles, outside the fairgrounds.
Struebing said two injured officers were hospitalized; one was hit in the face with an improvised weapon, the other suffered a concussion.
"We normally can handle anything in the park," Struebing said.

If there is any small glimmer of hope, in one of the earlier incidents some parents who saw their kids in the surveillance video aired on TV called the police and turned their kids in. Let's hope more of that happens.

Actually, that's not true - at least one witness has said that one black couple in a car was not attacked while whites in adjacent cars were being attacked.

Some of you may not remembe, but Milwaukee, to its great credit, has a history of standing up to these kinds of things. They had a strong Mayor by the name of Meier, and a Police Chief by the name of Breyer, I think, back in the 60's, both of whom took strong stands when the dregs of society started to emulate their brothers in other cities. There was some damage, but the powers that be ended it quickly.

Welcome to Chicago politics Mr. Superintendent, and you thought you were running this department. There was some truth to some of the rumors pertaining to the exempt movements that were supposed to happen on Friday. The deputy chief of Area 4 was going to Area 1 and the deputy chief of Area 1 was being demoted to Lieutenant. But the Superintendant forgot one thing, this isn’t New Jersey this is Chicago and in Chicago he isn’t as powerful as he thinks he is. Funny he really thought he was running this department. How quick one learns that it’s not the Superintendent but the politicians that are in charged, why do you think things are so screwed up. So for those of you who don’t know what happened, it seems that someone (politicians) didn’t like the idea of demoting a black deputy chief in a predominantly black area and replacing him with a white deputy chief therefore the whole thing was put on hold.

It's called having time on the job. If you work in a busy district then once there are openings then bid out of there.
Many media outlets are trying to whitewash this incident (surprise, surprise) I wonder why though? Are they afraid that whites are going to get pissed and start taking action? CC couldn't have come to Wisconsin at a better time.

Of course Illinois is SERIOUSLY out of step with the other 49 states.
Let's not forget that a lot of these honor students are most likely transplants from Chicago. The African American Community, especially the professionals (Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers, Judges) should be utterly embarrassed by the actions of these thugs. By any measure, Lollapalooza is a behemoth. Last year, the music festival grossed about $20 million. It posted a new attendance record: 240,000 concertgoers over three days. Organizers expect to top that attendance as the festival sprawls out over 115 acres of Grant Park through Sunday.
And how much does it pay the city for this privilege? Exactly nothing.
For seven years and counting, Lollapalooza has been exempted from the Chicago amusement tax, a 5 percent fee the city collects on tickets for sporting events, movies, etc. The festival also pays nothing to occupy Grant Park for three days every year.
All told, the city and the Chicago Park District would collect an estimated $3 million per year were it not for the festival's generous contract.
Shockingly enough, we have a Daley kin to thank for this. Lollapalooza's contract with the city was structured by former Mayor Richard M. Daley's nephew Mark Vanecko. . .

1. All youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age are required to be accompanied
by a parent or legal guardian (age 21+) to be admitted to the Wisconsin State Fair after
5:00pm.
2. Anyone age 18 years or over may be asked to show a valid driver’s license or state
identification card for proof of age in order to be admitted to the Wisconsin State Fair
without a parent or guardian after 5:00pm.
3. Any young adult without a valid driver’s license or state identification card and not
accompanied by a parent or guardian will not be admitted after 5:00pm.

One of the Milwaukee reports stated that a goal of this years State Fair was to be one of inclusion to bring more of a diverse crowd to the fair. I guess that comes under the heading "be careful of what you wish for."

As a Milwaukee resident whose lived here 60 years, had homes and ran businesses (a restaurant) on the outer edge of our central city, I saw this thing coming at us 40 years ago.
It went from being able to chase away 'smash and grab' thieves (always black) by just running up on them, until in the 80's one pulled a gun back on me. By New Year's Eve 1995 blacks with guns took over our parking lot and wouldn't let customers in or out of our front door. When we called M-PD they told us the wait for response would be 4 hours as the city was totally out of control. Wait times for burglar alarm trips had become 6 hours, and I was fined if they were false.
Shortly thereafter we moved.
Of course my suburban, liberal friends thought I was just exaggerating it all and my thinking was colored by 'prejudice' (no one called it racism to my face). In my gut I knew I was right to be concerned, but I kept my opinions to myself.
Flash forward 2011 and "now coming to a neighborhood near you".
My two year plan includes stocking up on bullets for a 32 semi-automatic, building a year round house on some lake property in northern Wisconsin, stocking up on some semi automatics and getting the hell out.
Most of you are cops, I'm not. Anyone think I'm over-reacting?

Glad to see the aldermen in WI had some balls to write that letter. They called it like it is. It wasn't a pack of whites, Hispanics, or Asians acting like savages. I called WBBM's newstip hotline this morning and spoke with an editor. I asked why they didn't report the entire story, especially since most of the Milwaukee press is covering it as a black mob attacking whites exclusivly.
The editor stated, "everyone knows the true story, the management here doesn't want to exacerbate the situation any more"
So that's it, they are afraid of the Rev'runds.
I can't wait until the riots when Barry doesn't get reelected.

Like those of us in good spots now, but worked 2,3,5,7,11,15 districts back in the 80's early 90's when there were 800, 900, even 1000+ homicides a year.

The Wisconsin State Fair is one of the friendliest and funnest places I have ever been to. As a lifelong Chicago native I especially enjoy it because( until this incident) I felt safe bringing my family their to escape the shitty and violent events that are the Taste and Air & Water show. Now look at this, the honor roll students are turning this event into another free for all. Beating defenseless white families and ruining everyone else's good time just because they are too stupid and ghetto to act like respectable human beings. It is their own fault and the fault of their parents that no one wants them around.

Their way of being will lead back to the riots and back to the segregation. I know that no race is free of hatred but the black community is its own worst enemy and has been for a long time. I feel sorry for all the respectable African American families that are seen in the same light as these black animals. I have so many African American friends and coworkers that read stories like this and admit to being disgusted by their own race.
Some of the readers here may think that as a hispanic I have no right to write about African Americans. But remember that it was Martin Luther King that said:"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Take the color of these young people away and you will still have an uneducated and hateful animal and for that I am sad.

Very nice written article. I hope next time you write an article writing about the INVASION in our nation from Mexicans and other hispanics. There are probably 30 million illegals in our country.
Also, you need to write about the hispanic gangs in major American cities that are making entire neighborhoods unlivable. I grew up at around 4900 W. School and now it's unlivable. Thanks to latino gangs and their families who breed more gangs.

I listened to it for all of 3 minutes the other day before I turned it off. It's fluff news - they went from traffic to style/clothing news. Ummmm, no. Sounds like it's E! entertainment news or one of those shows that's on before local news starts at 5 p.m.
As a Milwaukee resident whose lived here 60 years, had homes and ran businesses (a restaurant) on the outer edge of our central city, I saw this thing coming at us 40 years ago.
It went from being able to chase away 'smash and grab' thieves (always black) by just running up on them, until in the 80's one pulled a gun back on me. By New Year's Eve 1995 blacks with guns took over our parking lot and wouldn't let customers in or out of our front door. When we called M-PD they told us the wait for response would be 4 hours as the city was totally out of control. Wait times for burglar alarm trips had become 6 hours, and I was fined if they were false.
Shortly thereafter we moved.
Of course my suburban, liberal friends thought I was just exaggerating it all and my thinking was colored by 'prejudice' (no one called it racism to my face). In my gut I knew I was right to be concerned, but I kept my opinions to myself.
Flash forward 2011 and "now coming to a neighborhood near you".
My two year plan includes stocking up on bullets for a 32 semi-automatic, building a year round house on some lake property in northern Wisconsin, stocking up on some semi automatics and getting the hell out.
Most of you are cops, I'm not. Anyone think I'm over-reacting?

You're not overreacting at all. I would suggest making some additions to your "home defense" tool box. 12 gauge shotguns with plenty of double 00 buckshot shells is a must. And a good high powered rifle could come in useful as well. You can never be over-prepared. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just too afraid to face what's coming.
We also have 20k+ fresh CCW permits- but you can't carry at the Fairgrounds. And we demoted the racis cops who called it racially motivated last year. Yeah, those parts are serious.

What do you call people who, when they're faced with a condition or fear, do nothing about it, they just run and hide?
As a black woman, living in a predominately black neighborhood, who has raised a 22yr old college educated MAN that has never had contact with law enforcement (outside of a traffic ticket), I can only say.... I agree 100% with the alderman (Wisconsin not the pathetic excuses here) and its time for our black males to step up to the plate and handle their business, if not, move out the way! Oh, wait, they've already done that.
Think I'm going to print this and tape it over my desk at work, and pass it out to every pants sagging, doo-rag wearing, street corner hanging individual I see.

You're trying to plan for "the end" or "zombie day". Many realists contend this will be the way things go down eventually.
The common mistake is to think running to the country and trying to hide is going to save you, when in reality it will only isolate you.

I'm white, and I know I can't relate to whatever it is that incited and enraged those kids. But our conversation on the way home was that we wished we could have taken the kid who hit me home with us and shown him care, concern and support.
Here we are, living in the same city . . . . but a world apart.
We hear all about the lack of father figures, personal accountability and discipline, but there's just no excuse for a void in social responsibility. We really need to get past our politically correct sensitivities and address what's going on here.
The police could have done a better job. They should have recognized the scope of the situation, and then separated and escorted the mob out and away from the park. To shuffle them out and still leave them in a group was a mistake. I recognize they likely had limited numbers, but that's why they have horses, guns, squad cars and backup.
But this goes way beyond how the police responded.
So now State Fair is going to be perceived as a danger, a threat? So much for attendance. And so sad to see this decline in our society.

As far as the lie detector test: When I came on the job in 68, polygraphs were common. If you failed on it was 30 days automatically. I believe state law prohibits most of this in administratiive investigations. I think the law was called The Law Enforcement Bill of Rights.
