In our travels, we manage to talk to a lot of people. We end up talking to city workers in different unions. More than a few of them tell us the same story.
Their business agents and leadership are contacting City Hall to set up meetings with Rahm (or Rahm's people) with ideas for saving money and preserving jobs. And guess who won't give them the time of day, refusing to meet with the unions to discuss anything?
And adding insult to injury, Rahm's people tell the media that the unions are the ones not returning his calls, that the unions are the ones not coming up with any ideas, that the unions are the unreasonable ones.
So it seems that Rahm is determined to destroy any and all public sector unions and he's using a compliant media again who publish his every word, but won't call up the unions to verify that what they're printing is anything at all like what is happening.

It is if we live in Communist China with the media control which our mayor has.
The so called journalist are afraid to step out of line for fear the editorial boards of the organizations they work for will punish them.
Listen, what do you expect when the unions did not endorse him. Remeber that when Daley ran for Cook County State's Attorney he was NOT slated by the Democratic Ward Committeman. And what happens to them when he gets elected to be Mayor? He cuts all the Ward Committeman off with getting jobs and creates his own organization. So we as Police Officers are screwed because we backed a loser in Chico. Now the current Mayor is going to take it out on all of the unions who did not back him.

Have all City and State collective barganing agencys start having meetings three times EVERY DAY TO INQUIRE WHAT THE RAMK AND FILE WANTS THEIR ELECTED AND FEDERALLY PROTECTED REPRESENATIVES DO ABOUT IT!
QUINN will be on the next plane from China, Tiny dancer will get his marching orders from POTUS and we'll negotiate round the clock at SOX park!
The jails and the Burr Ridge will fill up fast and our contracts will be printed on calendars and 49 Alderpersons will quit.

Why don't you have those union reps give you times called or stopped by, people talked to, comments made and phone logs to back it up?
That way, the names of callers and the people spoken to and the comments made could be made public here.
Seems like the only way to get Emanuel's media to bother to pick up on anything that doesn't shine his ass like gold is to make it public in as many places as is possible.
Or, when the bullshit starts and the media thinks they're gonna do more favors for Emanuel, eventually those union leaders are gonna be contacted by the media for replies.....then they can make their information known.
But only after Emanuel's bullshit hit jobs have sat out there for a while.
I have said it before and I will say it again, we (the unions) need to all get together and start our own PR campaign. Billboards, full page adds, commercials, and anything else to get the truth out to the public. We can beat Rahm at his own game, but we need to stick together and take the fight to him.
Quite honestly Rahmbo won without the support of unions. Chico was the union candidate, and as the saying goes payback is a bitch.
Rahmbo has very little in common with little Guy Daley. What they do have in common is vindicveness and hate.
Didn't Daley try and meet with the unions and all they did submit a plan that that focused on laying off supervisors?

No doubt most of the "cost cutting" the unions see has mostly to do with protecting their members paychecks. I can understand why Rahm wants nothing to do with it.
The bottom line is a big chunk of the 1/2 a billion or whatever it is that is going to take in real budget cuts over the next decade or so to pay for the underfunded pension plans and fix the mess the Chicago infrastructure is in has to come out of employment.
That is where the money is. You cannot get blood out of a turnip and there just is not all that much money to be had elsewhere in the budget.

When will the busloads of union members from out of state start showing up like they did in wisconsin? It won't happen because Chicago is controlled by the democRATS. How many times do I hear that there are a shortage of cars available, that there is a backlog of calls, that the radios, computers, police cars are faulty and don't work. The Chicago police are being sliced and diced by this socialist thug mayor and it's time to step up and take a stand. But, first, you have to have a plan.
Let's remember Todd Beamer, the hero on 9/11, who was a passenger on a flight overpowered by the muslim terrorists. Beamer assessed his situation, he had the ability to gather others around him, and they stormed the cockpit to kill the enemy. Todd's famous words were, "let's roll."
It's time to roll, everybody. Look for that courage deep within you and step up. It will all get much worse, before it gets better. Face that fact and fight! Soldiers on battlefields past and present faced danger, swallowed their fear, dug within themselves for courage and fought the good fight.

The Laborers Union Local 1001 never knew Rahm's workrule changes until. the Spanish TV station Telemundo gave THEIR copy from the Mayor's Office to 1001's business agent.
Interrupit one of his press conferences to deliver your ideas and say you did it because he wouldn't return calls.

I agree with you 100% brother. Just do your job by the book. If we all generated reports and wrote tickets like we are supposed to then things will change in a hurry. But a lot of us are too fucking lazy to stick together and just bitch, moan and complain.

Check your contract book for the pay scale.
Check your contract book for the pay rate that the FOP board is at, i.e. D2, D3, D4 etc.

Few people are going to believe it if it is signed by a union. People know what public employee unions are for and it is not to save the city money.
You could create some sham organization to put them up as is often done, but again people are not as easily fooled on these kinds of things as you might think, especially the people that might matter.
In any case, unions are about representing their members. They meddle in other things at their peril. They need to use their resources to best represent their membership and not play in other areas.

Gee your plan is really working out well so far. You write tickets and create revenue(that's what they want). And by the way we have been in back logs for years now and guess what? They still aren't hiring any more police. If you haven't noticed genius- they don't give a fuck about you(the police dept.) So keep writing those tickets. And once again, why do you always say the police backed Chico and not Rahm? Just because FOP said so? I don't remember casting a vote with FOP giving my approval for endorsement of Chico or anybody. I did not vote for Rahm but I also didn't give FOP my approval to say I backed Chico or any candidate.
