- A 28-year veteran of the Chicago Police Department has been tapped to lead the Darien Police Department, officials announced.
Deputy Superintendent Ernest Brown is currently in charge of the 8,000 officers in the Chicago Police Department’s Bureau of Patrol, which includes its SWAT teams. He also served as the chief of the organized crime division in Chicago.
Darien Mayor Kathleen Weaver said in a written statement that Brown was her top choice for the job, calling his career “extremely honorable” and praising his experience and leadership ability.
Wow. It completely glosses over the seedier aspects of Ernie's disastrous tenure here. And his off-duty exploits. And his applying to that Arizona job and the subsequent withdrawal of an employment offer following their discovery that the resume had more holes in it than a south side homicide victim.
Maybe Darien could put Ernie's resume out there for everyone to peruse. And then Buckeye, Arizona could put out the application they got and we could do a side-by-side comparison.

Nothing in the files of IAD/OPS will be made available to any possible employers. So, the bottom line, there is no proof of any misconduct while on CPD. If Brown retires for pension not under investigation, nothing will be available to any outside agency. All employers are doing this to avoid litigation. Many employers will only state the name, title and dates of service for a former employee, but will not say anything else, to include salary.

At Thursday's Compstat meeting I heard that a homeland security person highly praised a PO for his hard work and dedication. When I heard that I was thinking that PO's like that, at minimum, should be promoted or at least recognized for their leadership role.
How are the lowest ranks and the highest working people in the dept. can be motivated if only heavy clout people nominate each other and individuals who deserve to be recognized ONLY get recognized by OUTSIDE agencies?

This Friday my doctor gave me good news. I will be able to come off the medical next week after being off all summer. I missed the department.
My uncle had my day off group changed so that I will not have to work the holidays and my uncle Tom promised he is going to have me working school patrol relief.
