Almost Got Away

Evidently, the gunman is a big believer in the old adage, "If at first you don't succeed, try try again."
  • An 18-year-old man dove from a car to escape a gunman, but made it only three blocks before he was shot dead, Chicago police said.

  • Varner had been sitting in the back seat of a parked vehicle when the gunman spotted him, approached and pointed a handgun at him, police said.

Varner dove from the vehicle and escaped, but encountered the gunman later on King Drive and was shot, police said.

Varner was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Witnesses say that if the victim hadn't stopped to do a victory dance after his first escape, he might have lived. On the other hand, it was an impressive effort.

I blame the Chicago public school system.

If they would properly teach these kids how to serpentine who knows how many lives could be saved.

And you know...like that rear seat belt law Illinois just passed. If it saves just one life then isn't it worth it?

Serpentine -- just do it.

It's stories like this that give me hope...

Stories like this are why SCC is the first thing I read when I get up every day.

Now if we could just get every gang-banging, thug piece of shit to kill each other until there's only one left standing, we'd be getting somewhere!

This "victim" was last weeks offender...literally. He was detained and a perfect match for a shooting that happened about a week ago that was caught on video. Tact had him, det's didn't want him; said they would follow up later, contact card generated and free to go on his way. Karma is a bitch!

I blame the ghetto vernacular. The double meanings confuse so many. Many an honor student have been shot dead after someone spots the gunman, tries to yell a warning of ”Get down!”, and the victim misunderstands and proceeds to bust out his dance moves on the street. Its a crying shame.

He died so that we might all better understand the word "fool" in the deep, profound way it is used in the Bible.

2333...if you are going to drive around with blinders on...try not to get caught in a Traffic Jam on Clark by Crossrads Bar at 2630 because of a double parked Chicago Beverage Semi Tractor Trailer....

Was nice to watch you sit and wait for your Turn to go around the Oh so important Beer delivery that fucked up traffic today at 6:30pm.

People wonder why there is little Respect for Town Hall district dogs.

different districts (business, downtown business, residential, etc) have different city parking restrictions regarding the loading and unloading of merchandise for business. If I'm a business paying fifteen or twenty grand a year extra in city taxes to keep my business in Chgo when I could move fifty miles away to Milwaukee or Grand Beach, Mich for less than half the amount, a parking ticket would probably be just the push I'd need to go. Don't kid yourself w/the great sales here. Tourists are scared shitless. Been to Navy Pier any time but July and August?
