Brutal Winter Ahead

  • Enjoy the nice weather while you can.

    Winter’s going to clobber Chicago again, hitting us with colder than normal temperatures and nearly twice the normal amount of snowfall.

    That’s according to long-range forecasters at AccuWeather.com.

    “People in Chicago are going to want to move after this winter,” long-range meteorologist Josh Nagelberg said.

Of course, these are the same people who predicted an onslaught of "super hurricanes" and such after Katrina hit, none of which have materialized. Weather is a tricky thing. Hopefully, it isn't too bad, but we've upgraded the snow blower just in case.

Trains traditionaly have names like 'The City of New Orleans', 'The Empire Builder', etc. This one, if it ever runs, should be called the 'Crackpipe Express'

it's a good thing that the dept has one 4x4 drive vehicle in each sector of each district. (( LOL ))i know if i get stuck in the snow this year with my cruiser, i can stick my feet through the rusty opening of the floorboard and push with my feet.

When you work in as crazy a district as I do, you hope and pray for severe winters. In fact, nothing depresses you more than that 1st 70 degree day. That day when all the assholes come back out, after a long winter hiatus. Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it fuckin snow!

If I was a MI legislator I would be happy to pay for one way tickets for the "disadvantaged" in Detroit to move to Chicago.

I have lived in Chicago my whole life. I work as a p.o. and I have about five years on the job. My wife will finish up her degree in nursing. Once she is done, I am out of here. The weather sucks, absolutely fucking hate it and I can't take it anymore. I am 30 and don't want to spend another 25 to more years in Chicago. We are moving to Daytona Beach, FL. The summer weather is very hot and uncomfortable (from June to September). The other 8 months is very good almost perfect weather. Not bad. I won't ever have to face a wind chill, a snow storm, ice, or other types of shitty weather ever again.

Whoops. Except for hurricane season, which runs from June 1-November 30. Don't forget about tropical storms, too. I've lived in the gulf south and trust me, you're just trading one problem for another.

I have a shovel and I can use it.

Winter = cold normally.

If people were to wish to flee the city: Taxes, losers in charge and other crap would be the impetus ahead of 'cold in winter' according to my estimation.

I do have a sun tan lamp I use in winter time. It is important that you get UV rays during the winter months since those help the body make Vitamin D. Most Americans are Vitamin D deficient and that causes many health problems and makes others worse. Good levels of vitamin D can increase overall health and therefore make you get sick less and lower healthcare expenses and let you enjoy your body in a working state for much longer.

Sensible UV exposure is the treatment; in winter that is hard to do.

Getting sunburned is just bad, any time of year however.

Funny that is never in the paper under weather warnings! But look out: Winter it cold!
