We all know that the CPD and the CFD are going to be merged at CPD headquarters....well, guess who Rahm is bringing in to 'facilitate' this monumental merge?
You guessed it...the same man who left OEMC with a major scandal involving a contract for police radios. The same man who left the CTA in shambles. The same man who left the public schools in shambles...oh, wait...they STILL are. The man quoted by former Mayor mumbles as the reason why he (shortshanks) 'slept good at night, knowing Ron Huberman was in charge of things.' Ladies & gents, strap in and hang on, it's gonna be a real interesting and bumpy ride if this comes to fruition,
And just HOW is Tiny Dancer 9.5 going to justify bringing this well educated bureaucratic destroyer back into the fold? What kind of salary will he command? How can Rahm justify paying this well educated non-boss a princely sum? I guess we'll see soon enough!
So Officer Huberman might be figuring out another way to sneak back into a gold braid pension again? Or just back to finish the job he started? Hey Garry? Run. Run far away if this is true.

Huberman's only role anywhere has been to be the hatchet man. He comes in and cuts everything.
Don't forget he was the head man at OEMC when their system failed a few years back. They had been spending money budgeted for maintanence of the electcal switching system and used it to redecorate the atrium at OEMC. Fortunately only one person died due to the long delay in getting an ambulance to him. Besides he was old and would last much longer anyway. So no big deal right?

I have never met Ron Huberman, personally...and, I have no ill-will or animosity towards him, personally. However, Ron Huberman, as a former employee of CPD, CPS, and OEMC, has demonstrated an incredible track record of gross incompetence and a lack of character and integrity. If he is brought back to CPD, it is just more proof (as if we don't have enough already) that Rahm Emanuel is just another dirty politician like his predecessor, whose chief concern is taking care of the clouted, favorite few. Beware, my friends! When Garry McCarthy leaves CPD in a very few short years, Ron Huberman may very well be his replacement.

and he qualifies for a pension from the OEMC, CTA, and CPS for being the CEO of each agency! NO CPD pension, he was just a patrolman and had less than ten years. SCC your rumor seems right on. Tiny Dancer 9.5 is bringing back Huberman as the over-all director of Public Safety which encompasses Police and Fire. His job is to mediate between the two as far as budgetary matters, the merging of Bomb and Arson with Fire as well as the two Marine Units merging as one. Not sure if he will also have a hand on OEMC.
This is a man who has nothing but failure in his past. He has been shuffled from Department to Department and his mistakes have been clear shortly after he left.
Arrogance is not the number one indicator of performance. Performance is, and he has performed poorly.

Consider that Ron is now an experienced high ranking bureaucrat, with an extremely impressive resume. Ron cannot find another place to kiss his ass the way we did in Chicago, because this is one of the last major cities in the U.S. where clout and stupidity carry more weight than competence.

An OEMC does not need an "atrium." It needs steel blast doors set in blank concrete walls.
Look at what happened to the hospital in Joplin, MO in that tornado. Look at what happened to so many buildings in Japan during the earthquake/tsunami.

Rising up through the ranks is when you take a promotion exam and then get promoted off of that list.
Then, you keep doing that same process.
Luberman did not do that. He went from patrolman straight to, I believe, ADS.
What happened to him was just plain in-your-face, I got juice.
It is the Peter prinicple (all jokes aside here, especially with him). You get promoted beyond your level of competence.
People like him is the reason this once great Department is in the shape we are in now. Unfortunately, not a lot we can do about it.
There are guys in business who exist mostly to go in and do the slashing and burning that is sometimes necessary. They are not especially popular with employees, for obvious reasons, but sometimes the slash and burn technique is what is needed.
When your budget is $1+ billion upside down, what real choices do you have?

Plus, Orozco is an ignorant, arrogant jagbag that believes he knows better than anyone else, regardless of the subject matter. Having worked with him, the news of his retirement was joyously received. Leave him be. We do not need him.

I guess you haven't heard....Orozco hasn't really 'retired.' Maggie has appointed him the CEO of that wonderfully financed charity of hers, "After School Matters.' Orozco is being paid a rather handsome salary for that position too. Loyalty/Mayoral ball warming appears to have paid off.
Why do we need ANYONE for this job anyway. The fire and police dept have handled their budget just fine over the last 150 years at least. We weren't skimming our budget of unfilled officer vacancies, city hall was. Why must we continue to be subjected to even more "new" positions that are merely created to take care of Daley or Rahm's political friends. We are sick of it. We don't need anyone to oversee our budgets. Just leave us alone. Politics has done enough damage to this department. Enough already!

The real choice is to find yourself a LEADER and put that person in charge. Guaranteed, most of us are adults (not all, but most)and we can hear the hard truths. We can hear the plan and execute it. What we don't need to hear is lies, threats or come-ons.
We don't need one of the chief engineers of the recent financial disaster to now be put in charge of the bank accounts.
