Jurors and law enforcement officials will be spared having to pay a parking fee at Cook County courthouses after all.
County Board President Toni Preckwinkle had recommended that drivers pay a $4.75 daily charge at the courthouses as part of her budget proposal. Some county commissioners balked at the prospect of jurors having to pay to park while fulfilling a civic duty.
On Tuesday, county officials announced jurors and law enforcement officers would get their parking validated instead.
We heard Preckwinkle is actually starting a "Bureau of Parking Validation" so she can have a few extra payrollers working the phones on Election Day.

She's gonna hire Todd Stroger to do the validations.
At $200,000.00 per year
How much will it cost to put up automatic gates and man the enter gate at all these facilites? I fail to see how this ass Preckwinkle will make any money.
Preckwinkle actually floated the idea of not even paying jurors or giving them carfare. You think nobody showed up before, try making them pay to park at a courthouse.
If jurors and police officers parking stubs are to be validated, then who's left to pay a parking fee? Oh wait, are they admitting that dozens of defendants sneak into the alleged secure parking lot at 26th cal. A lot that is packed to capacity as it is now. Are they now going to open it up to defendants? Nothing like parking your personal vehicle next to the scumbag you locked up. That's bullshit and a major safety concern if they open it up to everybody.
Who is gonna do the validation? Bullshit!!!
Someone in her family, It will most likely pay $100,00 a year as well
The parking lot at 26th st. Was always reserved for the Police, pd's, asa's, clerks, Sheriff, juror's and anyone with a county Id for security reasons. So I ask this, are they going to charge asa's, pd's, clerks, or are they going to let the shitheads park with the jurors? Park next our cars, the asa's? Sounds like a security nightmare.
Used to get validated at Juvenile court, but now you pay. We will eventually pay at 26th Street, you watch. Pulling into the lot, waiting for the cars ahead to get their ticket, pulling up, taking a ticket from an automated machine, waiting for the gate to rise. Should be really fun. This will fuck up traffic worse then it is now.
Maybe she could have her newly hired 70/80/90 thousand per year servants do the validating.
Anyone who would ever vote for ANY democRAT again need professional help.
When they first opened the parking lot at Juvenile court , you were still able to park on the street around the building for free , However , it only took a month or so before parking was restricted all around the building. We get our parking reimbursed right now, but it comes up regularly to try and charge us.
As someone who has actually had his salary cut 4% by Preckwinkle, I don't know why you pretend everything she does is merely subterfuge.
I voted for her, my salary was cut, and I'd still vote for her again. I work at the county, and I see her people trying to pinch pennies. I don't think she's an amazing leader or anything. But I think your sarcasm is misguided.
Simple solution! Don't lock anyone up!
I fail to see how this ass Preckwinkle will make any money.

Shes a Crook County politician/boss, if she hasn't figured a way to make $$$$$$, perhaps Toddler will tell her how, for a "consultant" fee, of course.
The parking structure at 26th Street is a dump...and I mean that literally because someone took a number 2 in the middle stairwell and it is still there. The stairwells smell like urine on Mondays because the Sheriff's Office allows "Plaza Garibaldi" (or whatever they call it) attendees to park in the lot on Sundays.
The parking structure is poorly lit. There is NO security. There are no cameras or alarm systems like you see at other parking garages. Private attorneys just drive in rather than pay the $13 at the lot next to Popeyes.
I am such an oldtimer, I remember when the lot only had 3 floors and they closed it for about a year to add the two additional decks.
I don't mind paying a couple of bucks for a clean and secure lot, but $4.75 is a joke.
Validation is also a joke. I wonder which $70,000 patronage lackey will get that job?

where was all the fury when Daley hired his entire family and everyone else from Bridgeport..
And why shouldn't Preckwinkle start a new 'bureau'
with friends of the clouted running it? She began her tenure by holding a press conference to announce her hiring of former City Hall Ball Warmer Masters as her new chief of Homeland Security. You can't win an election with the help of the Machine and not expect them to demand that you pick up some of the Machine Trash and take it with you to your newly elected position. Rahm knew that Masters' reputation within
City Hall and especially in the CPD was toast, and, well, a hack's gotta work SOMEWHERE, right? And Masters did the right thing too, by appointing RayRay, his personal Igor, as his Deputy Director.
One thing you can always say about these Machine
hacks, they will always reward loyalty, public opinion
be damned.
Master's, Master's, Master's... Recommended Jody Weise for the part time position.
FUNNY AS HELL!
Anyone ever see the traffic getting in there in the morning? LOLOL
Cant wait to see the traffic jam when the lawyer in front of you hands a 50$ bill to the sheriff's deputy and he has to run across the street for change cuz somebody dun stolen all da moola in the drawer the night before!
Going to be awesome to watch!
Looks like I just made my last felony arrest...
Sounds like all the more reason to swing by the district and sign out a squad if there's one that isn't being used and isn't falling apart. Park it on the fucking sidewalk in front of the courthouse.
What about the employees that take the metra? Will they have to pay for parking?
