Wysinger Hates Donuts

Everyone knows Al got promoted waaaaaay past his actual skill level. His connections even got him the Department's highest award in circumstances that could best be called "suspicious," especially in the face of dozens of other more worthy nominees. But this is just asinine:
  • At a community meeting regarding the elimination of the 19th district tonight, First Deputy Wysinger said the plan was about efficiency and "keeping cops from hanging out in Dunkin Donuts" all night long. What an asshole.
Really Al? Have you even listened to the radio in the past, oh let's just say five years? We know there are slower "retirement districts" here and there, but even they are operating at half strength from five years ago. And the busy districts are humping all day and all night from call to call. But to go in front of a group of citizens worried about their local police coverage and toss out a gratuitous shot at your own people using the most stereotypical unoriginal slam in existence?

This is our second-in-command. The guy in charge of the day-to-day operations of the Department. This is our "leader" who's supposed to be steering the ship through some of the most tumultuous times next summer.

First up Al, how about a fucking apology? Second, maybe you could make a comment at the next meeting about "keeping gold star exempts from licking politicians balls and sniffing their assholes," you over-promoted meri-clout-orious hack.

Now that's a slap....I believe china did it right when they turned back the ships from entering their ports. They were like get them the f ck outta here! Who's laughing now? The respect is gone from the citizens and now our command staff is dissing us!

No, no, no, no, no ..... SCC.

You cannot go on saying stuff like that about Al, because, if you remeber correctly, the last time there were questions about his promotions and ability to perform in each higher rank/level, we got inudated with "HE IS A GREAT GUY".

So, no, no no, no you cannot say stuff like that.

Al is a great guy, just listen to the masses of CPD people who kept on backing him with those meaningless words. He is a great guy - yeah right, as opposed to what? Saying he is a dick? of course he is a great guy, he has lived a charmed meritorious life - why wouldn't he be a great guy?

Al is no better than ANY other meritorious promoted person - they ALWAYS are looking to go higher instead of being happy that they made SGT to begin with. Look at any merit hack SGT on this job, all they do is try to make merit hack LT, and then from there to CPT, and then up the ladder to Chief, ADS, 1st Deputy, etc, etc.

How about you should be happy that you made SGT, a level of rank and supervison that you did not EARN, and just be happy with that? But, true to form, and just like great guy AL, these people cannot be happy with just one bite with the apple.

3 more years cannot come quick enough for me.

I copied this from the Trib website and figured I would give it some attention. I have an idea since according to Rahm he does not care about the money. If you truly do not care then use the money to fully fund our pension. There problem is solved.

Read it below for yourself.

Speed cameras, like their cousins the red-light cameras, would allow the city to use automated equipment to flag motorists for $100 violations. Red-light cameras generated $69 million for the city in 2010, and speed cameras likely would grow that number considerably.

Scc, aside from that comment the meeting was positive. Im not a cop but my son is and I live in the 19th. Every officer is going to the 23rd. Every last one. I dont know how they can wiggle out of that. I am concerned with increased response times and the motivation of this move like everyone else but if what they said last night is true, as a citizen directly affected by this I can say it seems better than losing half our officers to "low income" districts. And your representative from the FOP did a phenomenal job, just thought your readers would like to know. I dont trust the city, but if what they said was true, neither the officers involved, nor the citizens have much to be concerned about. Now lets just see if they were telling the truth!

Well said , again another exempt that was never promoted in rank order from a test score . More than 1 bite from the merit cloutorious apple . How much time did he spend in a district as a patrolman , sgt and lt . Most of his career in units , come late , leave early with plenty of OT.

With many supervisors over 55 retired , close to half of all supervisors are now merit . No shame , they know they are better than the rest of us .
Exempt merit command staff , close to 90 % Merit all the way .
It's only going to get worse , when mcgoof picked al , everyone knew he had no control over that selection or any future exempts,
Mcgoofs only picks are the new yorkers .
Close the beach . it's over 90 degrees out , ok mcgoof .

I guess this guy was never on the street.
DD was one of the few places where you could write a report, have ample light and a comfortable climate. Also, you would talk to your fellow officers and learn more about whats going on.
My father, long ago told me that he did most of his good police work over a cup of coffee.
After 35 years I see the wisdom of that. Many times, people have come up to me in a food establishment seeking advice or to give information.
This has resulted in many arrests and tons of information.
Maybe this guy was always taken care of and didn't give a shit about his beat or the people, or maybe he is just plain stupid?

It would be interesting to see the stats on a 5year beat officer in any district verses this political hackjobs whole career. No one is hating here, everyone on cpd knows the truth. The crooked democratic machine knows what clowns to promote, hell, if the powers that be can get to Dugan, who excusing the pun, was a so called tough nut to crack, wyzinger is the perfect schmuck to tow the company line and throw every working po under the proverbial bus. Its bad enough the stinky "hipsters" and the "folks"and"people" financed reverends depise the fine line that seperates this city from really going to shit. TRAGIC. God bless the CPD and CFD. As a Patrol Supervisor, with over 20 yrs. on the job, I read this post this morning on SCC and afterward, I could only feel (if the statement was true) disgusted and enraged.

Maybe our leader(s) should once in awhile, ride in a beat car, respond to some calls, write a report and see the bravery, professionalism and compassion that I see my men and women officers in the field performing everyday they’re on the beat. I have no problem seeing my officers taking a break, having some coffee and even eating a donut after they’ve just done a report of a baby being physically or sexually abused, having just responded to a shooting or other violent incident where blood and entrails are smeared all over the floors and walls, just finished up a UUW arrest where they chased the offender over a block, catching the animal, while worrying about their partner or having to use deadly force (knowing they’ll undoubtedly be sued and second guessed, by everyone not the police). This is the job we all voluntarily signed up to do…but my officers are human too.

As someone with hopefully 5 yrs. left to go on the job, I’ve had the pleasure of learning from people like Tero, Snethen and Burger and many more like them. They are examples of what leadership is. And make no mistake, we still have some bosses on our job that are leaders and take care of their men and women officers, but they somehow never make the cut for promotion or make the evening news. While at the gym today, I had the best workout ever, using my anger regarding the reported statement, as a catalyst to push myself harder. I looked around and saw midnight officers, tact officers and others on the job, lifting weights, running on the treadmills, (some after working the midnight shift) and thought, how many of our so called leaders could out perform the officers I saw? There are officers, many times stronger than myself, but I’m proud to say, while in my mid 50’s I can still get my heart rate up to 168 and run a pace of 8.2. Can our so called leader(s) do that? And yes, I eat cake and donuts too.

Ask our Honor Guard about eating donuts as they march ever so honorably in front of our Memorial, sometimes in the pouring rain in lightning and high winds, ever so proud (and yes, a couple of years ago I did witness this and I’ll never forget seeing the act of bravery and commitment). Ask our men and women officers who tirelessly take care of family members with special needs about eating donuts. Ask our men and women officers who are mentors in their communities and donate their time in their community to make it a better place to live about eating donuts. Ask the men and women who visit the graves of fellow officers who have passed on about eating donuts.

If I may humbly make a suggestion to our leader(s). When addressing the public and citizens we serve, tell them how proud you are of your officers. Tell them that they ARE Chicago’s Finest. Tell them they are there, and always will be, in the bitter cold, sweltering heat, in rain and snow, for those they have sworn to protect and serve as they’ve always done with honor and pride.

To my men and women officers, I hope you eat that donut, drink that coffee if it helps you cope with the senseless acts of brutality you see on a daily basis.
SCC you nailed it in your response.

Sorry I rambled….be safe all.

The origin of the belief that cops eat donuts is simply because working late shifts there was no lace open but donut shops for cops to get coffee. It morphed into an associated belief. Citizens, cops do not eat donuts any more than the average population. However I am sure citizens don't mind their cops drinking coffee so they can stay alert to protect you.

Not cool of the First Deputy. That is a disappointment.

Like every good liberal, has to play to the masses. He wants to be the next Sup when McNut leaves. So let me get Al's logic straight. If the 19th district is closed it will prevent cops from eating at Dunkin Donuts. Daaa, the cops still will be in the same area. Why not come up with the suggestion of closing the donut shops instead. Al's logic is respresentative of the logic at
35th street. I should say his illogic. And that is why this department is so fucked up and a danger to the cops and the citizens of Chicago.

SCC, as stated in a comment in an earlier post our pension is going to be under attack again. The following is copied from the FOP website...

Pension Legislation Alert 11/07/11

The Lodge has received word that there could be movement on SB512 as early as tomorrow. It is imperative that we make our voices heard load and clear that we vehemently oppose this legislation.

Now is the time for you and your family members to contact your State Representatives and State Senators! Please tell them to say NO to SB512 which would change the way pension benefits are earned and calculated along with increasing contributions by the members of the fund.

I took the time to look at the bill on the IL general assembly website and the following is just one of the ways they are trying to screw us. Current members will not be allowed to collect their pension until 55 instead of 50. ...IF YOU RETIRE BEFORE AGE 55 YOU CANNOT COLLECT YOUR PENSION UNTIL AGE 55. COLLECTING BEFORE AGE 55 WILL RESULT IN YOU GETTING YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS BACK AND NOT RECEIVING YOUR PENSION! read it for yourself if you'd like....

Sec. 9‑164. Refunds ‑ Withdrawal before age 55 or with less than 10 years of service.
(1) An employee, without regard to length of service, who withdraws before age 55 (age 62 for an employee who first becomes a member on or after January 1, 2011), and any employee with less than 10 years of service who withdraws before age 60, and any employee who first becomes a member on or after January 1, 2011 who withdraws with less than 10 years of service, shall be entitled to a refund of the total sums accumulated to his credit as of date of withdrawal for age and service annuity and widow's annuity resulting from amounts contributed by him or by the county in lieu of employee contributions during duty disability.

Maybe the public should learn EXACTLY how this this moronic, unintelligent, inane, goof got to where he is today. Here's a guy that would not have a job today if not for the Chicago Police Department and yet he stands at a position of leadership. Everytime he opens his mouth, he shows not only the rank and file but the citizens that know what time it is on the streets out here, how uninformed, insulated, and far removed he is from the current state of affairs. A teacher, any responsible parent of an inner city family, or business owner could do the job that he should be doing a hundred times better for half his salary. They also wouldn't embarrass the city and CPD everytime they spoke. Whoever this guys chinaman is should be forced to take Blago's place in the joint.

Focus on keeping police manpower putz. But if one day you want to be a big city POOOlice superintendent, you have to be the hatchet (JFled) man and spread the Word of Rahmulus....Clout is not dead, & Alphie is your moral booster, cheerleader and role model of success.
Fact of the matter, DD was like a station outpost, a place to commiserate, caffeinate and talk some trash, people knew we were there and bad guys stayed away. There aren't any DD's like they used to be, and certainly none in high crime districts. I guess next order of business is have Rahm close certain DD's to keep up perceptions.
We certainly don't need another motor mouth, outsider or one of our own, beating us up over piddly nonsense.
Let's see if the guys and gals who work afternoons and midnights, (while 'Fonzie slips his afternoon caramel Frappacino), get that apology.
Will there be two candidates on the No Confidence ballot?
I hope the citizens keep up the heat on their aldermen and the realize the bs coming from City Hall.

First McCarthy throws an officer involved in a federal investigation under the bus, then the First Deputy insults us in front of civilians. There had been the hope that the First Deputy would replace McCarthy, who is currently being hidden until he can be eased out. Now, one has to wonder which of these Morons is the Bigger ass.

A very reliable source has informed me that IPRA (formerly OPS) has been instructed to re-investigate closed CR#s especially targeting officers of retirement age. This is being done in an effort to suspend/terminate officers before they can dip their hands in the city's pension fund. Be very careful out the soon to be retirees, IPRA is watching.

Sun-Times, June 1, 2011: McCarthy said the first time he met Wysinger, he walked away saying to himself, “This man has integrity.” He was also impressed with Wysinger’s breadth of experience....“The single most important thing I found out about Al Wysinger is the fact that he has enormous respect among, not only the leadership but the rank-and-file of this agency,” McCarthy said.

Well, how much respect from the rank-and-file does Wysinger have NOW? How much did he really EVER have, being promoted via the Corrupt Chicago System of Clout. Wysinger's very public, negative comment implying that most cops hang-out at Dunkin' Donuts instead of doing police work, brings great harm and discredit to the entire Department, and is conduct unbecoming of a sworn member...a very serious Rule Violation. WHEN will Wysinger be held accountable for his public, thoughtless and insulting words about Chicago Police Officers? HOW MUCH suspension time will he serve without pay, or at least be sent to Call-Back for a few months, or years, while this is being "investigated"? Oh yeah, I forgot, when you are an exempt member, it also means being exempt FROM accountability, and exempt FROM showing any true integrity.

Superintendent McCarthy and Mayor Emanuel, nice going on picking someone who is an example of "integrity"....NOT!

Dems currently trying to discredit Cain so as not to split the black vote. White Republicans letting idiots like this run so as not to win the next election:

"Mitt Romney isn't getting his facts straight.

Speaking to workers at a steel fabrication plant on Monday, Romney, clad in his class-crossing plaid and jean uniform, proceeded to bash pay for government employees, proclaiming that they 'are making a lot more money than we are.'

For a man worth over $250 million, that's a bold association to make.

'The taxpayers shouldn't have to have money taken out of their pay checks to pay people in government who are our servants who are making a lot more money than we are,' Romney continues.

It's not clear exactly where the former Massachusetts governor is getting his numbers from. The Bureau of Labor Statistics released a report just last week that showed on average that federal employees make about 26.3 percent less than private sector employees."

But think of the possibilities fellow citizens. Make all of us wear t-shirts and caps with logos for banks, corporations, Mickey D's, Hooters, and pawn shops paid for with our tax dollars. Tatoo logos on our foreheads and asses. What the fuck! Fat Ass Daley forced thousands of trees and flowers down our throats to make Chicago beautiful. The Racoon now wants to cash in on advertising. The media is complaining they can't get any information from the city on how it is speding (pissing away) our money. Is this a shock? The Daley Crime Family did it for years. But after this, I believe all his words were bullshit. He showed his true colors with this comment. If you disrespect the troops, no matter what to the citizens, it is totally uncalled for. That shows the respect he really has as a boss for us. He owes everyone on this department an apology and an explanation why he would make any police officer look like an ass. From the top to the bottom, we are all supposed to back each other up. That goes for everyone. You have a beef you bring it to that person, not make the members of this department look like a bunch of lazy worthless assholes. Especially when we are all doing double the work with the shortage of police on this department. I will never acknowledge him again after this slap in the face. If you believe that then you also believe in the tooth fairy, pro wrestling and every word that ever came out of the mouth of Richard M. (Mumbles) Daley.

You are a fool. I forsee next year this time that 30%-40% of the old 019 officers will be cruising on streets with numbers in their name, 47th St, 63rd St, 79th St etc.

Here is a fact: Now there are 9 primary beats in 019 and 9 beats in 023. That is a total of 18 primary beats for both districts. beat maps are already drawn up for the new combined 023/019 with only a total of 15 beats. 3 beats eliminated right there already.

Both districts are overloaded with sergeants and lieutenants. McNut and Rahm and jerking each other off at the thought of raiding 20 or so sergeants, 4 or so lieutenants and 40 or more police officers. That amount of manpower better take pictures of the streets of 019 because that is the only way they will be seen again.

One difference between me and Al is that I earned all the ribbons I have. Even the meaningless ones.

Nuff said.

I always said the public really has no idea what we really do,and are not running along side us when our gun is drawn and we are chasing the bad guy down the alley, between yards and jumping fences,so when we are at Duncan or any where we choose to take a break, that's not all we do though to a few lame brains who assume that what they see is what they get,Duncan donut eating coffee drinking gun slinging lazy......we know what we do and some appreciate what we do,but certainly a boss with a brain would not say what he said! I would expect a boss to have good leadership skills, intelligence, and discernment especially when he speaks to the public!

To all 019 Officers:

Five area Aldermen are organizing a community meeting with Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy next Tuesday in the Lakeview High School Auditorium, 4015 N. Ashland Ave., at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday, November 15. The meeting will address the planned merger of the 19th and 23rd Police Districts in 2012.
---

Prior to this meeting I urge all Police Officers planning to attend to purchase, borrow or otherwise obtain a Dunkin Donuts t-shirt or sweatshirt prior to the meeting on the 15th. And wear it to the meeting.

If Wysinger can wear his phony baloney Lambert Tree award then dammit, I will be dressed in DD's finest t-shirts.

On 02 JUL 08, a police officer on first watch in 019 was shot and killed in the line of duty. If i remember correctly, he was 99. (RIP P.O. Francis).

This is the anniversary month of the murder of E.T. Flisk. Also working 99. RIP Flisk.

A Chicago Police Officer was murdered in the parking lot of his own station while getting ready to go home from his tour of duty. Alone in a police parking lot. RIP Thor.

There is no such thing as a retirement district for a police officer in Chicago.

Every car on every watch should be a two man car.

For Al to say something like that in light of the increasing attacks against police officers over just the past few years, while our manpower is WAY down, is not just a slap in the face, it's taking a dump on us.

No defense for you this time boss.

First, THIS white shirt got it by studying, taking time due to study, using a furlough segment to study, then studying some more. So, you're full of horse puckey. Clout happens, but it isn't the only game in town.

Second, you're certifiably INSANE if you think you can convince anyone Wysinger was 'kidding'.

He was simply parroting Emanuel's comment from earlier on, and a recent similar one from McI'llSayWhateverRahmWantsIfOnlyIcanStayHere.

We may joke amongst ourselves behind closed doors, but no one who respects the police EVER walks into an informational meeting comprised of CIVILIANS and ridicules their subordinates, co-workers and profession.

It's not only unprofessional; it speaks volumes to the contempt he actually has for police officers.

If our pension was merged with other city pensions, the City wuld tap it and 'borrow' from it and nearly bankrupt it, like it has with others. At least we still have some measure of control over ours. I do NOT want our fund merged with others.

Oh, and let's not forget NY's pension is funded by a city income tax. So, it follows that you also want a city income tax? You need to actually KNOW what you're talking about before you post.

My position has been for many years and continues to be : never go to promotional parties or retirement parties for exempts. They don't care about you, never have, and when it seems they do, it is for their benefit. When you cease to have something for them, you will be cast aside. It would be a glaring statement that no one buys a ticket to one of their promotional or retirement parties, a glaring statement. Start taking care of each other.
