Where is the Truth in Sentencing?
Once again, the liberal tendency to shorten prison sentences costs someone their life. The latest casualty was 14 year old Kelli O'Laughlin of Indian Head Park. Get a load of this jagoff's history:
- Wilson is a habitual criminal who has been in prison for 17 of the last 20 years, Troy said. A review of prison and court records show Wilson’s crimes escalated in violence.
Wilson was last paroled Nov. 16, 2010 after serving part of an 11-year prison term for robbery in which he snatched a woman’s purse after grabbing her by the throat near her car in Chicago in August 2002.
Gee, 2002 + 11 years = 2013 if we added correctly. Truth in sentencing would have precluded him being on the street at all to murder an innocent child. And this?
- While serving his sentence, Wilson was convicted of spitting on prison guards at Pontiac Correctional Center during a scuffle. He received another two-year prison term for aggravated battery of a correctional officer, court records showed.
Most likely served concurrently, which for all you lay people out there means he's serving two sentences at the same time instead of tacking the two years onto the end of his current stint (consecutively). That would have put jagoff at a 2015 release date at the earliest.

- Wilson also served earlier stints in prison for various crimes, dating back to 1991, that include possession of a controlled substance and aggravated vehicular hijacking. In the latter crime, Wilson pleaded guilty to pointing a gun at a motorist’s head in November 1993 during the car theft.
The victim was able to flee unharmed. Wilson fled, but crashed the stolen car shortly later after a short police chase.
Warning sign after warning sign after warning sign. Constant run-ins with the police. An increasing propensity for violence and confrontation. Truth-in-sentencing would have been a good idea back in 1991. "Three Strikes" might have been an even better idea and Ms. O'Laughlin might have led a full and productive life, unlike this piece of crap.

Maybe its time for some legslation to start holding the states atty's, pension boards, judges, etc responsible for the blatant errors that have caused the deaths of police officers, store clerks, and most recently, an absolutely innocent 14 year old girl by the early release of a subject who has no business being allowed to roam the streets. I can't even begin to imagine the pain that this family is going through, but whoever signed their name to release this asshole early needs to be held responsible! If it was the police doing something wrong, they would be on the hook for a huge punitive damage, I think its only fair that the other side be faced with the same consequences so that they act in a more socially concious manner. 1 or 2 good lawsuits to these liberal judges or parole board members would keep these assholes where they belong...in PRISON!

I believe the police officer is the ONLY link in the law enforcement chain (including prosecutors, judges, juries, law makers, and parole boards) who are NOT indemnified by law, and thus can be sued. As far as the rest of them, you are not even able to file a lawsuit QUESTIONING if their actions were right or wrong or incredibly stupid.
That's why all we ever hear about are cops being sued... we're the only ones not given blanket immunity for our actions, unlike all the other inept clowns inhabiting those other links of the LE chain mentioned above.
This is just disgusting. I feel so terrible for that little girl and her family. This piece of shit should be tortured and then burned alive but even that would be too lenient of a punishment for him. And all the politicians, judges, ASA's, parole officers, etc. that are responsible for this piece of filthy garbage being on the street... FUCK YOU! I hope you all rot in hell.
P/Os can be sued for decisions we make in split seconds and under extreme duress, the type of duress only other working or formerly working P/Os understand. Hell, P/Os can be sent to jail for these decisions. But judges and prosecutors, and the shithead politicians that make judges and politicians are IMMUNE from any punishment regarding the asinine decisions they make while nice and comfortable, sipping coffee. This system is broke!
It's tragic what happened but I am tired of paying for repeat offenders. Ship all these people to a desert island.
Perhaps a better way would be to include escalating sentences for the next crime committed. First offense, when found guilty includes mandatory minimum sentence, no parole, if found guilty again, leading to "3 strikes" in certain categories.
This outrage should inspire the "I wannabe fair and open minded" assholes who make up the bulk of affluent suburbs populations to begin to understand life as it is and demand their right to bear arms.

You can't sue them. They are exempt under the law, just like ASA's and judges.
You can only sue the police in our society.
Victim's family should sue the State of Illinois and Quinn in federal court.

Though he wasn't an early release he still is the lottery recipient of avoiding the needle thanks to that pussy Quinn.
Thank you to Quinn and the other bleeding hearts for taking the needle off the table (pun intended) if any case and the behavior afterwards screamed for a death penalty, this one does!
I work with ex offenders. As police officers, your perspectives are understandably jaded as the only ones you ever deal with are the ones who are committing crimes and re-offending.
I'm probably a good bit more forgiving than most of you- in my line of work, I see the other side of the coin; the guys just trying to put it behind them and move on- but we probably agree on one aspect.
There are certain crime types that portend of a total, total disregard for social adjustment. Robbery and residential burglary are in that category. It might make sense to give juveniles a second pass on certain things, but show me an adult, repeat offender engaging in robbery or residential burglary, I'll show you a permanently broken individual who is destined to reoffend his way up the severity ladder until he eventually kills someone.
We probably need to rethink how we sentence certain offenses, we definitely need to rethink how we treat guys who made a mistake, paid the price and just want to move on with their lives, but we also need to rethink how we handle the ticking time-bomb predators who haven't killed anyone- yet- but if left unchecked, most certainly will.
Some offenses need to be made ineligible for early release. It makes no sense that a violent predator and a drug offender are liable to the same release mechanism.

It seems like the financial aspect keeps being brought up, that it's too expensive to lock people up, we need alternatives and programs. However , for most criminals , that is a waste of time. And if you want to look at the money aspect, how many future criminals do these scumbags father while they're loose in society.Why isn't the cost of these unwed , single mothers childrens figured into the calculation. SSI, link, special ed , costs once they come into the DCFS and juvenile justice system.And they'll just continue the cycle , fathering numerous children of their own to 15 year old uneducated girls. A forensic accounting of many of these families can trace back over a million dollars in services in just one to two generations.
As a police officer it is maddening to see my name on some offenders rap sheet multiple times.
Keep the bottom 2% of humanity in jail where they belong so the rest of humanity can live safely. Some people cannot be fixed.
Reform needed in the criminal justice system where if a sentenced isn't followed there the jag off or jag offs that let them out our held civilly and criminally responsible. This practice would stop immediately.
The Three Strikes and You're Out law was enacted in California after the high profile death of Kimber Reynolds 18 YOA, and Polly Klass 12 YOA. Both murders were committed by repeat violent offenders.

He was also suspected of a possible rape a few days earlier he matched the description but was not charged. How this animal got from 79 & Justine to Milwaukee and Devon on a bike to rob and rape better wake up some who are downsizing the 16th District.

So how are we to deal with this sort of ongoing and growing problem? The bad guys don't take the system or laws seriously anymore. What are the reprecussions of taking a life that educated people hold so precious and derogatory, ignorant people do not? What are we to do with the politicians who are victimizing us all at the same time while running our country into the ground, what is going to be their punishment? We are not a country of plenty we are a capitalistic country you become what you want rich or poor. However, the punishment for disturbing the balance of things i.e. murder, home invasion, burglary must be met with harsh reprecussions and conviction regardless if he or she grew with or without decent parents or regardless of race. This has to do with one person or persons who want something without working for it, someone or somebody gets in the way and they remove them PERMANENTLY irregardless of who gets effected by the loss or not. We have to start FORCING ALL politicians to comply even if it means victimizing them, then they will see who they have truely effected with their rash and undisciplined decisions!

The judges only allow true beasts out on the street. That is a fact. A person who comes before the judge on a bullshit case will get the hammer. Something wrong is going on in these court rooms where beasts are designated kids but dropping bodies or dealing massive amounts of drugs and older felons are being let loose in the wild. It is time to name these judges.

Just like you have judges being rated by BAR Associations for retention, the organizations representing CPD (like FOP, etc) should come out with their own list in the paper.

Instead of just "sliding in" every election because no one is questioning them, having a police organization rate a judge as being "too soft on crime" would get the attention of the voting citizen. (Believe me - it would)

Instead of just complaining here - create the POLICE REVIEW for Judge Retention in Cook County.
POLICE REVIEW would swing a lot of votes. I am sure ALL NRA members would back it and now you have some real clout as to getting rid of the incompetence sitting in Cook County Courts who are making $180,000 plus in salaries.
Certain judges should have been bounced a long time ago. You know who they are - tell us and we'll vote them out.

The increase in skunks, racoons, opossums is blamed on "their environment being decreased".

There are some that would have spewed the usual, "He is a good boy and was just about to turn his life around" or "Our baby never did no wrong, The poe-leece are putting a case on him" or "That girl bothered him and bothered him until he finally gave into her and went to her house for bible study.
