Buy a Ticket or Else

People aren't spending money on parties so much this year:
  • Something totally unrelated to this:Commander of 007 deems it appropriate to have the watch commanders/lieutenants threaten po's with shorter furlos and denial of time off if they do not purchase a district Christmas party ticket. I guess nobody is buying tickets and thus he will lose some money he paid out of pocket. Gee, when you treat your officers like crap and your racism is blatantly on display then I guess nobody will support you and buy tickets. You reap what you sow.
The commander of 007 exemplifies everything that is wrong with the Department, with a family history that probably makes the Daley's blush at times. The superintendent can't seem to move him, even with dynamite. And he expects what exactly? To make people's lives miserable?

NEWSFLASH! It's Englewood. Misery isn't exactly a stranger in 007. Not to the citizens or the people working there. Besides, just about every officer we've spoken with across the city reports lower than usual ticket sales for Christmas parties this year. We're in a recession you know. Plus, cops aren't stupid.

Maybe because the tickets are ridiculously expensive and the parties are usually crap. Tickets for 003 are $75 for mediocre food and drinks that don't last all night.

not the case in 008. They ran out of tables at the christmas party the other night. Was a great turn out. there were almost 60 additional people who purchased a ticket at the door. People had to stand and take turns eating at tables but nobody really cared...all around good time and great turn out.

Ah yes, it's that time of the year again, where bosses crawl into roll call with hat in hand, pleading for officers to go to their Christmas Party. If you're lucky, the Commander will even make an appearance, to plead for tickets, just like in 007.

If threats don't work, they usually play the sympathy card:

"It's not for us guys, it's for the retirees."

I call bullshit on that one. They just don't want to look embarrassed when it's a poor turnout and they are left with a lot of cold hot wings and Hot Pockets on the table.

As for the retirees, just about every single one of them usually has had their own separate retirement party besides the District Christmas one. Even some of the biggest jagoffs has had some friend or relative, that cared enough, put together a shindig to honor them. And if a retiree didn't? Then they are probably too big a loser to deserve any attention at a Christmas party anyway.

I made the mistake of attending one 11 years ago. It's filled with kiss ass CAPS cops, tact and gang guys that have to attend or they will lose their coveted spot. You can tell half of them don't want to be there, while the other half, that would lock up their own mothers to remain on a team, competes with each other to see who can kiss the most white shirt asses.

Do yourself a favor if you are thinking of being pressured into going, 'DON'T!' Spend your time with family and loved ones, or do something constructive like playing Pong or staring at a wall.

Look at it this way: When a Christmas party is attended predominantly by a group of officers that are being strong armed to go, otherwise they will be punished, as opposed to them going on their own free will, well, common sense says that it's all just a big jerkoff fest anyway.

That strong arm bullshit has been around for a long time. Really unfortunate how our bosses treat us officers. If we want to go, we'll go, If we don't, then we don't. There was a time back in the day when officers loved to go and couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had the next day at roll call. Those days are long over. If an officer continually get shit on by his mayor, superintendant, district commander and watch commander(s) then who in their right mind would want to go celebrate? I sure wouldn't.

1). Contractually he cannot do either of those things.
2). Should he threaten anyone with either one of those, be sure to document date, time and location where it was verbalized to you and by whom.
3)Document each and every incidence of time due denial.
4).File a grievance as well as a lawsuit for harrassment.
This dept. does not like harrassment beefs.
All you need to do is show that you (the P.O.) was denied on numerous occasions time due, while others were granted it = lawsuit.
(Bear in mind though that just being the lowest in seniority and never getting any time off such as during the holidays, is not enough for a harrassment lawsuit. If that were the case the newbies would have been filing these kinds of things for decades)
But if you have sometime in grade and can show that after (insert the date of the Christmas party you did not attend) you were denied time due 20, 30 forty times or more and you attribute this to the fact that prior to that date you had no problems getting time due = lawsuit for harrassment.

Everyone in 007 should boycott his party.

Yeah, so I'm supposed to pay $65+ for the ticket. Double that if I take the "better half". Then burn 8.5 hours because it's on a day I'm working; that's the equivalent of roughly $400+. Then pay a babysitter a hundo?

So I'm looking at about 7 bills to hang with the guys and gals from work and pretend that everyone present now somehow magically gets along because it's a holiday work party? While I understand that it's a night to honor that year's retirees, I usually drop the ones I care for a card with a nice note in it wishing them well post CPD instead of attending yet another dog & pony show.

Even the Big Man upstairs would have a hard time convincing me to pony-up that type of cash for this bullshit. This department ain't what it was 20 years ago. Shit...this department ain't what it was even a mere 10 years ago. The less to do with it, the better.

I worry more about the knives being thrown behind my back from the Exempts, P.O.'s and Supervisors looking throw you under the bus for their own gain!

The days are past (or should be) when you can pressure coppers to attend Christmas and promotional parties out of fear of being dumped or threatened with reduced furloughs or denial of time due. The bosses, many of them who have have no clue as to how to be the police, have become arrogant and abusive to beat coppers out here. It simply makes no sense.

These bosses ought to be glad the men and women who work in fast districts like 007, 005, 004, 003, 011, 015 and others show up at all or when they do, actually do much work. We may have subscribed to a code and oath when they took this job, but we are not bound to take disrespect and abuse from people who could never be as good a law enforcement officer as many of us are.

Perhaps there ought to be a concerted effort to avoid parties like this in great numbers. Morale is not the best these days anyway, and I certainly would not begrudge a group of coppers who "couldn't make it" to the festivities - save the honoring of any retirees.

As for the commander of 007 - his personal issues and lack of integrity speak volumes about the current plight of the Department. Based on that alone coppers should have little difficulty in deciding what to do.

Also you folks are in the top 5 in other categories as well. All you dopes are just that-dopes. I haven't written a parking ticket, a moving violation, an arrest (only domestics with a signed complaint and if the victim is really fucked up then I signed) a contact card, or anything else. All I do is answer my radio and back up my fellow officers. Why do you bitch but won't do anything about it?

Several officers did not buy a ticket and still are getting a 23-25 day furlo. So, if you consider a 25 day 1/2 segment furlo shortened or denied I ask how long did you expect to expend it? And I nobody is worried about losing spots in 007 because guess what- there are no spots in 007. Unless you consider Tact a spot which is made up of 5 year of less guys and gals because nobody wants to work the joke tact teams anymore. So I call bullshit on this and no I'm not a supervisor nor a kiss ass to the bosses. And NO I didn't by a ticket yet still got a nice furlo.

SCC, there are multiple reasons why PO's are not buying Holiday/Retirement party tickets. Here is a short list

1. The name of the party. The parties used to be Christmas Parties not Holiday parties. Political correctness does not play to this Christian and many of my fellow PO's feel the same way. I won't attend a Holiday Party.

2. Morale. Who would have thought to see morale lower after Jody left???? Rahm and McCarthy have pissed off everybody. The example of 007 is just one of many. Giving hundreds if not a thousand officers and extra half hour onto their drive to work each day is not exactly a motivator.

3. Cash Bar. The cash bar at all parties is probably the #1 reason no one is attending. U cough up $50 or more and no alcohol included. Those who are on afternoons or midnights have to take time due, Buy a ticket, and then have to pay for drinks all night equals forget about it!!!!! Officers are hurting for money. Extra expenditures like buying drinks means staying home with the wife and kids. I heard one of the parties that already happened was empty by 10 pm. I remember back in the day the venue having the party throwing everybody out at closing and the key word was everybody. Nobody used to leave early.

It has been a Department tradition to put the bite on Tact Teams to buy tickets whether they attend or not. This way it was guaranted that at least 30 tact guys and 16 gang guys plus four to five sgts would offset any ticket sale slowdowns.

If you don't want to go to the Xmas/retirement party, then don't. But don't come on the blog and start spouting lies about some of the Dist. cmdrs. Say what you will about Carothers, he supports working cops, and I've never seen his disparage anyone here in 007 over their race or ethnicity. And yes, I'm white. But I see that apparently, 'playing the race card' cuts both ways.

Well... for many years I have attended the annual Christmas / Retirement Dinner! In my more than 25 years on this job, not once did I attend to appease any Commander! I attended because I felt as though we were a family; and I attended to extend any feelings of homage and respect for the service that some 'others' had done...if they hid in the supply room or worked the streets! Who am I to judge? My first six years on the job labeled this officer as the supply clerk or the crossing guard supervisor...but there was a time they were MUCH more. NO... I wasn't there then, don't know the work they did or the hard times they had...and then again, who am I to sit in the seat of judgement? I thought it was important, even as someone who only passed them in the halls, to walk proudly over to their table where a wife, a Mother, where children or neighbors sat and say, "Congratulations! Thanks! I always noticed 'this or that about you'!" Their families sat attentively paying attention and in awe...and you could see the welcome look of appreciation in the retiree's eye! On three ocassions I was unable or unwilling because of being out of town, blatant disregard or disrespect by command staff... I made it a point to 'single out' EACH retiree...send them a card and gift certificates! It cost much more than buying a $45.00 ticket in 1985... we have become such a selfish brood! We always want acknowledgement when it is our own trial or tribulation... but fuck the next guy! My time is short on this job...but until I leave, I shall support the service of others, and I will make sure to proudly support the St. Jude services...regardless of him or her having 'perceived' advantages, being a ticket writer or the 'real' police! Being black or white... I served with them, and I support them! We all have a last hurrah! Happy Holiday's to all, whichever assignment you have... 011, 002, 611, 004, Gangs, 007, 015, 025...and now ???...my career!

Work in 011 and am planning on going to the Christmas party. Everyone who wants to throw up the big "FU" to the department by NOT going, needs to recognize that the dept. doesn't force us to have parties. They are put together by individual districts. Last year nobody in 011 went. The reason? Henny Penny. This year we have Wahington back, we have pretty decent WCs, a few retirees, and in comparison to what I'm hearing from other districts we have it pretty good overall. I wasn't forced to buy a ticket. I'm going because it's a night out and they have always been fun in the past.

Hers the deal, way back in the day their would be retirement parties and the annual Christmas party. The retirement parties would be held apart from the annual District Christmas party. The retirement party was for the retirees and the Christmas party was just that a Christmas party for all the members of the District/Unit. The problem was when the dept. Started to decline and these new commanders started treating the POs like shit. Thus resulting in lack of attendance at the annual Christmas party which is a direct reflection of the current commander and was an embarrassment when more attended the retirement party than the Christmas party. Then one genius came up with the idea to combine the retirement party with the Christmas party to save face of the horrible commanders that were appointed to their districts/Units.

It is obvious you read this blog a lot. Unless you are into some sort of self torture, don't read this blog and you won't be offended. We are sorry you worked for even worse criminals than we do which caused your company to have to lay you off, however just because you lost your job doesn't mean that anybody else's job has to be grand. Many people around the country are being abused by municipalities and states that wish and indeed are fighting to have the right to be just as fiscally irresponsible as your company was with its employees. Instead of hating on people who are getting shafted, perhaps you should put your disdain where it belongs...on the organizations whose mismanagement of funds has put each working person's lives (including yourself) in jeopardy. That would be more appropriate. If you cannot do that then just don't torture yourself reading about us, just talk to your friends and family members about their jobs at X company. I'm sure they have similar attitudes.

We have about 10 retirees that are being honored, all who will be there with their families. I think it's important that their families see what high regard their fellow Officers have for these retirees. Is our Commander a tool? Y-E-S! But this is not about him! It's a way of saying thanks for having our backs, and to wish them the best of health and happiness in all their future endeavors.
Anyone who has put up with the B.S. from this job for 30 years or so, deserves a nice send-off.

First off, I am sorry that you have been laid off, and you and your family are struggling... On one hand, you are right, I should be thankful, and I am..
Secondly, this is a police blog... I'm bitching about something specific regarding "police" promotions ...
I took this job because I knew that it would be highly probable I would probably NEVER get laid off, with that said, I purposely shunned being an electrician, & carpenter, which I had the opportunity to get into... I knew I would not get rich doing what I do, but my job security would more than likely stay in tact...
Police bitch, that's what we do...especially when there are perceived injustices and unfairness that is blatant regarding police promotions, and other things, just the same..
I am very thankful for this "job", just not too happy how my "career" has turned out thus far!

Too many of these guys either never had a real job before joining the department or they forgot what the other "career options" they had were. Let me remember my own...college degree, military background, 30k salary, 12 vacation days, no overtime, asked to work on Saturdays, and strongly encouraged to work special events AFTER the regular workday. Reward was usually being told how great we were as staff....raises, promotions, and comp time??? Ha!

Believe it or not the biggest reason for cash bars is to protect the stupid from over indulging and getting jammed up. If you need more than a few drinks at a party to enjoy yourself, you should talk to the people at EAP.

wc's,1st watch, are pathetic. I do lknock and wait to be acknowledged, but on avg its about 7-9 minutes before they choose to look in my direction. I guess whats the difference that is less time for me on the streets doing their stupid missions. But when they bitch about low numbers, shootings, etc, I choose not to acknowledge them for 7-9 minutes and thx to short term memory loss I forget what they are saying.

Jones is actually the better of the two, Gill is just certifiable. She has to be bi polar at least or a sociopath at worst. She hits her mother with an iron, gets locked up and is still on the job, she throws a bottle at another supervisor, and is still on the job, WTF. She proves people who get promoted off the list are not always the best for the job.
Of course the biggest screw ups tend to get the best spots, so she'll be hidden shortly, maybe in charge of counting the cracks in the walls at 35th st.

12/04/2011 12:22:00 PM

Actually Sir or Madam, I choose this career for job security, pension, benefits, the excitement of the job and the will to help and protect the sheep. I accepted the fact that it was dangerous and that I would forfeit my freedom of where I could live and that I would also be forced to work most holidays and miss a lot of family events. But when we took this job we were also promised the chance for advancement! And to work for a professional police organization. You are not suppose to accept the status quo and be greatful we have a job. We held up our end of the deal, it's time for our employer hold up theirs. By the way it's not our fault the career path you took in life that has you scrambling looking for work and that you would accept the status quo and be greatful you have a job. You should of grew up sooner and planned for your future accordingly. I sacrificed already and now so do you but the difference between you and I? I was taught early in life about self motivation, you on the other hand not so much! So don't expect us to feel sorry for you!

Bet you were not talking like this when your Dot.com was doing well... Some of the Asshole public use to like throwing up in our faces that we Only made 80K a year... and that they will gladly pay the parking ticket they just got because they parked their BMW or Porshe against a fire hydrant while they went in to get there $5 cup of coffee at Starbucks...

Now your bitching because the economy is in the shit and we still get 80K while your upside down with 4 properties that you own on the Gold Coast! And as for our pensions, have you been reading the fucking newspaper? The 9% I have been contrib. for the last 20 years may not be there when I retire because the fucking Mayor and his relatives can't seem to keep their hands off our fund, not to mention they have failed to contrib. their portion which has been unerfunded for the last 10 years or more... Your probably the same prick that would not help someone across the street let alone go in a CHA highrise where there's a man with a gun call for less than a "one time payment" of 80K but you expect us to do it everyday without complaining for that amount for an entire year...

So the next time some police officer has to assist you after you just got your ass kicked or one of your children are missing and we comb the neighborhood or there's an offender in your garage stealing whatever he can get his hands on remember this... your still an asshole!

189 Xmas Party, The officer was a completly in the wrong and a goof. He was dressed like a bum and looked like he crawled out from under lower Wacker Dr. He was intoxicated and initiated the incident. Seriously how stupid could you be. Just like everyone else the Supt. has a boss (Rahm) and is told what to do or at least what results are expected. This guy knows what worked in his past in NY. I know that politics plays into any position as high as the Supt. And in my opinion if any person were offered his position with the pay he gets, you would get the results that were asked.

At least this guy is a regular guy who is not looking to hurt anyone, just do his job to get his pay and is not too big to have a beer or a conversation with anyone or any P.O anyday. Not a fan just telling it like it is.....

P.S. The 189 Christmas party was decent, Food was great, More peopple than prior years and a much nicer place. Good time had by all.

If i had a job where I could do absolutly nothing and still keep my job and get paid what the other guy is doing I wouldnt have a complaint in the world. Im pretty sure that I cant take the police test because I am now 46 years old. and your contension is that everyone must be a police officer and if they are not then they are stupid.. This job is a dead end. My career is almost half over and ive had 2 chances for a promotion. For the new guys, dont stick around unless you have clout. Move on to better places.

I'm going to 014's party just to point out to Linda that there are more undocumented workers cleaning tables than cops and see if I can get her to have a meltdown.

Dry clean my suit $10
Ticket to the party $65
MPEG video recorder$ $79 on Woot.com

Getting the Latina version of Phyliss Diller losing her mind on camera ...... Priceless!

I read the blog because my family is the police. second if i was a roofer and people forgot their sh&t I wouldnt care if I was GUARANTEED A PAYCHECK EITHER WAY! You dont see the point stupid... you can do absolutly nothing and still keep your job and get paid the same exact check. If you dont have a car to drive around in and you sit in the station all day long doing nothing then you still get paid. You just want to bitch because you want someone to feel bad for you. My entire family is the police, dont give me your "poor me" story about how tough your job is. You have a great job but have to deal with alot of crap on the street... no matter what the internal crap is who cares??? your still getting paid. If i had a job where I could do absolutly nothing and still keep my job and get paid what the other guy is doing I wouldnt have a complaint in the world. As my family calls it, all the whining and bitching is just the puss*fication of the police department. The entitled bunch who want more more more and is all about me me me. if you dont like your job nobody made you take the police test... im sure nobody is making you stay either..or are you staying because you know youve got it good.. im sure your just another dog collecting a check while doing the bare minimum of work... again, stop offending the real working man who has real things to bitch about in life. waaahhhh, my computer doesnt work, my car runs and has heat but it has 100,000 miles on it so ill complain... waahhh, i couldnt take 13 days in a row off so im gonna lie and go on the medical..

You are wasting your time reading a Police blog when you should be on Lindkin putting your resume out there networking. If I was unemployed looking for work, I am not going to be sitting at home on the internet going on Police, Fire, CTA, Teachers, Post Office, Metra, Jewel, Dominicks, employee blogs and worrying about what they are talking about amongest themselves.

MEMO TO THE BAD BOSSES IN OUR DEPARTMENT:
A boss creates fear, a leader confidence. A boss fixes blame, a leader corrects mistakes. A boss knows all, a leader asks questions. A boss makes work drudgery, a leader makes it interesting. A boss is interested in himself or herself, a leader is interested in the group.

1. Why is everyone calling the OCD party the 189 party????? 189 doesn't have a party. I work in 189. I bought a ticket for the OCD party. I have a take home car. I can cough up $50 blood money so I don't raise any red flags. I save a whole lot more than $50 a year not having to buy gas to get to work. The party was ultra boring and poorly attended considering the amount of tickets purchased. I had one drink. I had to be back at work the next day and work a full shift.. Sgt did nothing for the teams he/she was watching. Work 8.5 for 8 on Saturday as well.

2. I don't blame anyone who works in a district for not buying a ticket. I wouldn't either. The city does nothing for you. Why should any PO do anything for city other than show up for work and answer your jobs????

3. The argument between McThirsty and GL from 189 was real. I was at the party. Obviously it was the talk of the whole unit Friday and Saturday. GL was drunk as was McThirsty. The argument they had was started over football and rugby and who has the tougher players. The argument had nothing to do with how McThirsty was running the department. The argument got very heated and GL and McThirsty exchanged unpleasantries. GL challenged McThirsty to step outside. McThirsty accepted the challenge and they stepped outside. The 1st deputy and McThirsty's chief of staff ran out and broke up the fight before it came to any blows. GL was dumped from 189 the next day. GL was drunk and stupid. He is a nice guy but you can't talk to the boss like that. I give McThirsty this. He didn't threaten to have GL dumped during the argument. McThirsty was going to fight like a man. Thats more than I can say for 90% of the bosses on this job.

4. I ask anyone on this job a simple question. Name any job you can challenge the boss to a fight and not get fired?????? The answer is none!!!!!

This comment is for the numbnuts who thinks that any retiree who cannot get a few friends to throw a retirement party for him is a loser. I say GFY. I am long retired, but I recall the days when there were NO retirement parties and NO holiday parties, only watch parties. Retirees turned their star and shield over to the watch commander at the end of their last watch and walked out the door. In many cases the captain never came out of his office to say goodbye. We took up collections at roll call to give the retiree some sendoff. I am glad there is an annual retirement party and I say go and honor the retiree and do not pay attention to you current commander or watch commander. Then do the right thing and stop sucking up and paying for exp[ensive tickets to promotion parties and retirement parties for the brass.

To secondcityroofer-

Ah screw it. I could go on and on about how much I agree with you. I could tell you that you should not use this site as a barometer of what the REAL CPD is like, but then, you already know that if you are from a police family. Plus I would just get spammed by the morons that lurk here acting as if they speak for us all instead of being a tiny minority.
But then, I also thought someone should speak up to clue in the public that reads this, that we do not all feel entitled to a feeding frenzy at the government trough and are grateful we have employment. I continue to pray for my neighbors and friends in this tough time. I respect the work that you do and the anxiety this economy is putting you through. Stay strong my brother. Peace out.

P.S. I will be at my Christmas party. And like a lonely previous poster said, I will tell the family members of my lucky-to-be-retiring co-workers how much I enjoyed working with their family member. And I will wish them luck in their next venture and hope to join them soon. As for the ijiots that post here with all their negativity- have another sip and please stay home. No one wants to be around you.

anyone know the real story of the 189 Xmas party? First, you hear the argument is over football and rugby. Now its an argument over the po berating the super over him being a patsy for the mayor. Big difference, especially over who is at fault. If it was over the po berating the super, what did you expect him to do. If he didnt stand up for himself, you would say hes a pussy

Not so much the cost of the ticket but after speaking with quite a few officers, more would attend if slips weren't burned. That's 8.5 hrs at approx 35/hr. It adds up and plus I can use that comp time for something more meaningful like time with the family

A/1 commander carries her afternoon watch with no slips, why can't we do that for everyone... and some of the dicks dont even show up at the party!!! WTF

Mr. Masters Degree

New commenter, sorry you've had trouble in the job market, hope 2012 is better for you. Some guys wrote some level headed comments in response, some did not. I'll try to make this a level headed comment. A career in CPD is probably worth 1-2 million dollars, depending on when you came on, how hard you worked (OT) and how long you stayed. I don't know what your career is but with a Masters degree I would think its worth a little bit more, even without our relative job security. Our job entails alot of physical, mental and legal pitfalls, every job has stress but I would bet ours has more than most. I would say that the hours we work are unappealing to most, I would prefer to be asleep long before I get home and weekends and holidays don't apply to me. We do have some idle time on this job, some use it to be proactive some do not. But to sum it all up on why we deserve what we get I'll use the expression "I wouldn't do that for a million dollars." That being responding to or being engaged in gunfire, searching a guy with exposed needles and or every disease known to man, driving in high speed chases (more police die from traffic accidents than homicides) running into a burning building (yes the police do that too sometimes) I could go on and on but I think you get the point, sometimes are salary looks like a good deal and sometimes we are the most underpaid people on earth! Merry Christmas and a better New Year.

The fact is you took a job a long fucking time ago and it's gone.

You didn't take or attempt to take this job.

You are one the crying about not having a job and that anybody that has a job has no right to complain about their job. That is a person with a fucking EGO problem.

You come onto a fucking police blog and troll because in your limp dick mind "it's not fair that I don't have a job and you do." You are a fucking EGOMANIAC TOOL. Im sure if your family is anything like you they are despised on the job.
You had an opportunity to move up in your prior job, but you complain that policemen are upset because they are given NO opportunity for advancement. Wow.

Why don't you do yourself and your family a favor, take all that effort you put into worrying about the police morale and worry about yourself. And by worrying about yourself I don't mean trolling Facebook and getting $150.00 haircuts. You should get a fucking job. It christmas time guy, I can guarantee you get a job at a big box store being a cashier like I did when I was 19. I know that might be beneath you, kind of like the police job was, but like you said that ship has sailed.

Sir you have a serious issue with jealousy of our job. I am sorry you are out of work but you should get off this blog and spew your hatred somewhere else. Next time the CPD hires, maybe you can apply. Until then get over these negative feelings. Its not doing you any good nor is spending your time reading about police issues. so what your saying is that everyone else who is not a police officer makes "stupid selfish choices"? So I went to college, got a degree, worked for 9 years got a masters degree and advanced in my company. worked at a higher position until the bottom came out in 2008 and have been in and out of work for months at a time and that is my choice??? Im pretty sure that I cant take the police test because I am now 46 years old. and your contension is that everyone must be a police officer and if they are not then they are stupid.. It sounds to me that you have the "ego" that some associate with cops. It actually seems that you feel that any job that is not a city job or police job is beneath you. I am a huge fan of police officers since my whole family works for cpd. myself, just like them dont like the whiners and "hardasses" as you seem to be... Im sure many of your co workers probably feel the same way. Growing up and living in mount greenwood I have many friends who are police officers who are fantastic people... they usually talk about guys like you... no I can see what they are talking about when they talk about the "ego"..

12/05/2011 01:53:00 AM

Look dude if your family and "friends" are cops they why are you coming on this POLICE blog and bashing police for venting their personal feelings? Do you say the same bs to your alleged family and friends who are the police? Maybe you should talk to them because coming on here to vent your frustrations is OK as long as they are not toward the POLICE dumbo. This is our blog. Take your jealousy and misery somewhere else.

Oh, and don't you dare step foot into the WC's office, you have to talk to them, when they acknowledge you, from outside the door. Get over yourselves. Send Help Soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

12/04/2011 04:19:00 AM

It's called chain of command. It's not a new concept. Shame on that wc if he lets you walk into his office without asking if you talked to your sergeant first.

12/04/2011 11:40:00 AM
Hey asswipe, it called courtesy. You knock at the door before entering. You just don't walk into someone's office like you own the place. If you'd have done that years ago, the old time Captains would have ripped your head off.

12/04/2011 11:44:00 AM

I understand chain of command and courtesy, but if i knock on you're door to get my arrest approved and you act like it's the biggest fuckin' bother in the world or if you're just an overall jerk who's not easily approachable then that makes you the ASSHOLE. Take notes WC's. And if they would've"ripped" your head off years ago for expecting common courtesy, then they were assholes then too

12/04/2011 03:27:00 PM

You must be one that thinks you are ENTITLED to everything. Take a clue junior... It's not all about you.

A little common courtesy goes a long way.

I am a watch commander and frankly, it amazes me that I can be in my office, in a discussion with the District Commander or some other brass hat... only to have someone like you come barging into the office... interrupt our conversation... and blurt out that you have an arrest in the Que.

Since mommy and daddy didn't teach you any manners, you think any boss that expects common courtesy is an asshole?

Sorry my brother in blue, but YOU are the asshole.
