Wearing a black-and-white striped prison outfit, former Chicago police officer Antonio Martinez Jr. admitted Friday morning that he used his badge to help steal drugs, guns and money from people in Illinois and Indiana for the Latin Kings.
“Do you agree you abused your position of trust as a Chicago police officer?” U.S. District Judge Rudy Lozano asked Martinez in U.S. District Court in Hammond.
“Yes, I do, your honor,” Martinez answered.
These indictments just came down on the 18th of last month -just over two weeks ago. That means this impersonator was either cooperating the whole time or was in so deep, his only recourse is to sell out everybody he can in the hopes of breathing freedom somewhere down the road before age 60.

If a police officer gets involved with drug dealers and gangs then he deserves whatever he gets. The vast majority of us work second and third part time jobs if we need money. That is the way to do it.

Both of these mopes worked the not so "elite" Mass Transit Unit, after leaving 004, and 018. Neither officer had the time time to bid to 018 or 701! The rumor was that they were sponsored by a Southside Alderman who made calls for them. When they got to 701 the late Cmdr. told the supervisors to be careful and keep them from working together. Lt.Steve Sweiger who did so, was launched to 013. And then they took a year off on the Medical for "Stress"! Which is easy to understand since they were leading double lives. It was during that Medical time that one of them got in a crash and sustained the injuries that caused him to leave the job. It would be interesting to see if they committed any of their crimes while on the Medical.

If you were involved in your union you would know the answers to most of your questions. The picnic committee has so many members on it because most of them work the day of the picnic from about 7:00am until 7:00pm for practically nothing. If you had mentioned your name I would make sure that you got the "chance" to work at the picnic because it is such a reward. The Legal Defense and Grievance Committee make decisions each month on covering officers and moving forward on grievances. Many of these are important decisions because they involve all of our dues monies. The reason that there are so many members is that our members as you may or may not know work three different shifts and when there is a committee many cannot make it so we want to have enough members there to make these decisions regarding how to spend our dues money. The reason the President doesn't sit on the Pension Committee is that this committee has been in place for almost 9 years with members going to the board and taking notes and reporting back to the executive board.Some committees meet monthy and some meet once a year. I'm glad that you are at least reading the Constitution, but maybe you should contact the President or 1st Vice President and this could have been explained to you. By the way you can ask to see the Lodge's books at any time, it is no secret what is done with the money. But I'm sure you know that to.

I believe the stipend for most committees is $50 per commitee meeting. You have to actually show up to get the stipend. So if the meetings are around 2 hours, some longer, well, it isn't a whole lot of money. I can see it now on SCC, "I go to these damn FOP Committee meetings and all I get is this lousy $50. Damn cheapskates."

Whether we like it or not more thugs are becoming Chicago Police Officers and thug mentality is being accepted. Let's face the truth, CPD is the least competitive department and will turn down no applicants because nobody wants this job. To get the best candidates the city needs to lift the residency requirement. Otherwisethe CPD will continue to be getting ubdesirables as candidates.

Don't raise the requirements for the job whatever you do.. you might get more qualified people..look what happened on the fire dept. You made 85 the cut off, were sued and lost. 85 was arbitrary. Make the cut off 0, this way you won't lose in court.

It looks like there is not much going on with you. Most people with an IQ of at least 40 will agree that this kind of behavior is wrong. A police officer who steals tarnishes the whole department. Aside from that, said activity amounts to “Official Misconduct,” which is a crime. But lucky for you, if you are a police officer, that the aptitude standards for getting on this job are a joke. Otherwise, you would be sweeping and mopping floors (along with cleaning toilets).
Who put these fools on a Tact Team in 004 and who was their Sgt? When will this madness with the Special Units and Tact Teams Stop.

This post is the biggest piece of bullshit that I have ever seen on this blog. In the 70's, my friend, we worked without portable radios, safety vests and in many cases partners. You are insulting an entire generation of police officers that you are probably not fit to to wipe their ass.Yes, we had an occasional watch commander have a cocktail or two before coming to work as well as some of our fellow officers. If someone was impaired. we would not let them roll on the streets. We covered for them. Did not happen too often, but when it did we covered for them. As for you GFY.
