The chances of one her students being shot by a police officer is virtually nil if said student isn't involved in any type of serious criminal activity.
The chances of one of her students being shot at by another one of her students is about 100 times higher. That could involve gang activity, stepping on shoes, baby's mama drama or potentially a liquor store robbery.
Someone can look it up, but the number of police involved shootings tends to be under sixty a year or so in Chicago.
There are nearly that many shootings citywide in a busy three day summer weekend sometimes.

When I was in my teens during the VietNam era I believed the police were the enemy and the underprivileged were victims of the police. I was at every protest carrying some type of antiestablishment sign. After high school I got out in the real world and got a job. A job that actually involved manual labor and common sense. On a serious note, ALL public employees who live in the city need to unite behind one candidate next time. Turn out and vote in someone for mayor in about 160 weeks, who sees things differently. I remember as a student, the teachers always taught us that the police are the "Good guys" and are people that we should go to whenever there is a problem. They may do nothing, then may censure her, or just put the complaint(S) in her file etc, but she will know where they came from and perhaps at least stifle her anti-police sentiments. I know that’s doubtful because her liberal mental block causes her to suffer a blockage at the point she can’t rationalize that the police do not murder her peeps. Most teachers are on our side, as they are well aware of the realities of life. I received an email this week that next month cell phone numbers will be free game for telemarketers and there is a National Do Not Call Web site that everyone should go to to have their cell phones taken of the call list.
I think the CPD should have a Do Not Accept a Call LIst. All these police hater, bleeding heart liberals can call and be put on this list and when they are getting their asses kicked (or bung holed by savages) they could not call the police that they so passionately despise!
This idiot has no clue. I've been cps for ten years and as much as I hate to say it, there is one or two teachers like this at every school. The cps always accepts anyone in these schools who is willing to put up with the aggrivation. I have been in austin and humbolt park. Ask her how many times these little darlings have called her a crazy white bitch. The problem is poverty,parenting, overcrowding and lack of support from top down, that is the reason for low test scores. They come to us low or not speaking english. Last year cps refused to hire more security at austin after repeated pleas from the principal. (In news). You boys in blue have yours, we have ours. Your people have enough integrity to not bash us in public. That's why the teachers union will never work. No united front littered with people willing to spend their check on students city should be footing. She doesn't represent the majority. For this I apologize.
