* Open your FOP book up to January 2012. Look at 18 Jan. The day off groups are jacked. It's supposed to be 6-6/1 but it says 6-2/3. Which would be fine unless you actually needed that day off and a cursory glance told you that you had it and the day comes along and yep, you're working.
* I don't know about the other district court calls, but it lists 025 court call at 50 and 23 as 0900. It hasn't been so for months, it's been 1300.
These are things I picked up just casually looking at the book that apply to me. I am sure there are other errors.

Exempts and XO's were called to an emergency meeting yesterday at 1730. All XO's will be in Sun/Mon, start at either 1630 or 1730. They wlll approve all overtime and CU for all 3 watches.They will all be given blackberries and if there is a problem they can be called while they are off and they will be compensated(OT) for the calls!!!!They will be responsbile for all administration duties and crime analysis(compstat) in the district. There new office will be the former Watch Commander office and the station supervisor will sit out at the desk. The goal is to remove all Lt's from Units and put them back in patrol.
Things got pretty heated, it became obvious to the Capt/XO's that they got lied to and fucked by the City and good ole Don O'Neil. The City specifically put the starting times at 1630/1730 because they are within 3 hours of the starting time of 3rd(1330) and 1st(2030)watch. The Capts can have their hours changed by 3 without being compensated.
We are in for a long and bumpy rode, grab your ankles and hold on tight.
Funny how in order for a Spar/CR to get approved there are several layers of insulation, XO, CMdr, Deputy CHief and Chief, sometimes Supt. Its a system of check and balances to ensure there are no mistakes.
BUT when it comes to approving an arrest report(possibly violating soemones civil rights) there is one person who does it all. The Command staff knows how to take care of themselves.
When I retired on 15Nov2011, I happened to be standing behind Ball when we were turning in our stars and picking up our retirement stars. He was a little annoyed that he couldn't get a gold Commanders retirement star instead of his silver Lieutenant's
star.

.000 to .02 is acceptable, .021-.0399, you are sent home without pay. .04 and up is an automatic CR and treated as intoxicated.
Haven't seen this in writing, but that is what I was told when I went yesterday.
As the rumors all sound like Bull shit, Sgt's and above have up to 1 year to come back from retirement and receive the same benefits. Anyone can be brought back as a commander, they can just make them a civilain rank.
But I doubt Ball is coming back, especially after his comments at the last Compstat meeting.

An emergency meeting called at 35th Street last night ended in a near brawl (so New York).
It seems the new XOs wee flexing a little muscle but were finding their 30 pieces of silver were not waiting for them in the Districts. Too bad.
There was a lot of screaming and swearing and no real anwswers. A clear indication that this downsizing of the Department was implemented without any real thought. Just looking at the money they thought they would save. This Department is a mess. Thank you Mr. Mayor.

The money was payable on 7 Jan 12. The increase came in on 1 Jan 12 and is now being earned. First quarterly check earned at the new higher amount will be paid next quarter.
The check we just got was for the last quarter of 2011. We earn it and then get paid.

Now that definitely sounds just like the C.O. Lt. of Asset Forfeiture, arrogant as hell. Morale hasn't been this bad here in years.
I came on the job in early 1972 and stayed 32 years and come up here periodically to read what's been going on since I left.
Get this into perspective:
When I came on I was told by one of the "OLD" guys that the best of times were already in the past past and my time on the job would be hell.
Now from my perspective the job only has gotten worse with all of the back stabbers who came on with and after me. So suck it up and plan for it to get worse as time passes - nothing has changed except for it getting worse.
More back stabbers, political lice and sons and daughters of bosses and politicians and finally fucking cry babies.
Those of you who still work prop all of those mentioned up and those mentioned probably take credit for something you did and did not get credit for.

There are a few exempts who do speak their mind. The problem is that McCarthy could care less what they have to say. The Superintendent is arrogant and could care less about what others think. Ah! The old days of Corliss. How could I forget. He even got drunk on night at a private club on 47th street and tried to run some off duty guys through with a sword. They got him down, handcuffed him and put him in the back of a cops car ( Tom, god rest his soul). Tom was driving the Chief of Patrol home down western avenue when the Chief convinced Tom to take the cuffs off. What a mistake, The fight was on and two beat cars from 008 had to put the Chief back down and in cuffs. Nothing official was ever done.
Just a question, what is going to happen when an inspector wants to write a copper for being seriously out of uniform, like a certain bouncer/footman on clark street, can the xo, who has never worried about the bouncers uniform when he was the w/c, and races him to the bar nightly, intervene and prevent the beef,or does the xo get written up also?

The answer is no nothing will happen to either one because M.R. Is a fuckin nut who apparently is untouchable I wish this fuck would get jammed up for the shit he pulls but I guess the beefs against him keep getting swept under the rug but either way he will be long gone before I will and I'll wake up every morning and will always be a better human being than he can ever hope to be and he will wake up in misery everyday of his miserable life
John Corliss and Joe Curtin were top shelf Bosses from the Southside. Only the dog ass coppers didn't like them .
Working coppers had no problems with Corliss or Curtin.

Old Joe was so loved that someone used to play the hat game (substituting various size hats – some days too small and other days way too large) with him when he was at 39th and California and they also played hide the podium and all this in an effort to drive Joe madder than he already was. Everyone at 39th street just loved him!
Then there was the fish bowl thing (oh were oh where can my fish bowl be?) one day on the roof another day in the parking lot. I had to feel sorry for the fish in the bowl but not Joe.
