Open Post

It's Friday, we haven't had an open post in a bit, we're all waiting for the supposed "big changes" to come rolling downhill, and it's the "adjustment" weekend before First Period starts on Sunday.

Keep it clean.

I guess I shouldn't be "shocked" at the proposed changes in district boundaries, numbers, and the like. I understand the attempt at trying to save money, but it seems that this whole thing was never thought out. Even though many of the changes that need to be implemented are computer related, I can't see the phone company making sure that their land-based phones connect to the proper zone for free; the department computers will have to have their parameters changed to reflect the correct district/beat for their case reports, and nomenclature for detective units will also have to be up-dated. There truly is a cost of doing something over again instead of correctly in the first place. I wonder how many hours and money will be spent in these new changes. It is truly sad....

This department is going to shit. 5 more to hit 20 years and I’m gone! The administration is bent on destruction. I feel bad for the citizens of Chicago, my fellow police officers and our families. The G8 is going to set this city back. You think the 1968 riots showed unfavorable footage. This time around this department is going to be the shame of the country. No proper equipment, not enough manpower and an aging force. They think our cops can meet the demands of violent protesters for 12 hours at a time. I see allot of cops falling out. You can take the overtime and shove it.

Although the sacrifices you make, the dangerous circumstances you face and the good you do on a daily basis may not be seen or acknowledged by those you serve, I appreciate you.

Thank you, again and again.
May God bless you and keep you always.

FYI. FOR ANYONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE A HOME ALARM SYSTEM. THIS COULD HELP.

Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.

This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage.

If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds, all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that.

And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there. This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime. Would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. Seniors can carry their car keys with them in case they fall outside and no one can hear their calls for help..... They can activate the car alarm and neighbors will know there's a problem.

He has taken 'not letting a crisis go to waste' to a new disgusting level.

Unless you have a neighbor who's car alarm has shorted out. First time it went off, I looked out the window to see what was going on. It turned off after a few minutes BUT then activated again shortly after. Each time that happened he had used his remote key control to turn it off.

That went on for 2 days.

The Economy:

from the latest COGFA state revenue report…

In terms of the economically related sources, both corporate income tax as well as sales tax could be viewed as somewhat outperforming expectations, while personal income tax has slightly underperformed and has struggled to achieve any real growth absent the tax increase. Looking ahead, the most likely scenario continues to call for modest growth over the remainder of the fiscal year and into FY 2013.

via >> http://capitolfax.com/

There's a nice recap of the State's pension situ. at the above link too.

--------

So what does that mean?

Well if the personal income tax revenue is not growing, all that b.s. about creating and growing jobs it just that... b.s.

I've said it before.

What kind of jobs are being created? Losing living wage jobs and replacing them with part-time shovel-ready min-wage poverty jobs is not going to turn this ship around.

Although to the weak-minded pointing incessantly at the job numbers and claiming that any increase seen there should automatically be correlated to a better life illusion works...for a while.

"Corporate income tax is somewhat above expectations along with sales tax."

But the little guy, the middle class Joe, their wages must be stagnant or falling because if they were making any money the personal income tax revenue would be increasing and it's not.

Either that or the number of people working and/or the number of so-called jobs being created are not paying krap.

So how can sales tax be up if personal income is not?

Either the only people buying things are the corporate elite class OR...OR people are buying on credit OR..OR they are pulling money out of their savings, IRA's or 401K's to get by.

How else would you get money to drive sales tax revenue higher?

The only other possible ans that I can think of is that the sales tax revenue is from out of state-ers right?

The hits just keep coming.

The news hype today is all about jobs being created but so far Illinois is not seeing any signs of it in their tax revenue growth.

Meanwhile we heard stories from hizz honor about a shortage of welders and aviation mechanics in Illinois.

Oh we have companies right now that need 600 welders and mechanics in the aviation field.

Ha...Boeing just announced layoffs of 2000+ shutting down op's in Kansas. Northrup and Bombardier laying off too. Google it.

Then today we get word from Alcoa.

"NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Alcoa's global smelting capacity will be reduced by 12% after the company said it would close an aluminum smelter in Tennessee and some operations at a Texas facility..."

=====

Makes you wonder what those welders are going to be welding when they get out of the community college don't it? Those poor suckers.

In other news. Speaking of lies and rumors.

Unlike "the suspects are in custody" ones here's one on Bank of America's stock that drove the price higher by almost 10% yesterday. Those manipulative b--tards.

---

Bank of America shares rose almost 9% on Thursday to $6.31 on speculation that more mortgage refinancing help from the federal government could be on the way, but it appears now that won't be the case.

---

Nope.. Betcha a lot of exec's really raped some investors on that one!

-----

Finally Chicagoans should be asking what's the deal with Ford?

Correct me if I'm wrong but did the Gov. here not give Ford a nice big fat tax incentive to create and attract jobs here in Illinois?

-

Ford announced plans to open a new research lab in Silicon Valley early this year. The lab, which the company said will aid Ford's "expansion beyond the traditional automaker mindset to drive innovation for a better mobility experience," will be the company's first dedicated research and development office on the West Coast.

Seems like that political corporate tax break extortion to create the much needed jobs in Illinois isn't working so good. The favored tax treatment status done little to sway Ford to building in Illinois.

Please remember, the FOP fought the Dept to make sure that its officers would not be subject to the rules of the Dept. No, random testing, no annual qualification, no training requirements (TARA, gas mask). . .

Subject: Impromtu All Occasions Alarm

R.O. would love to try the thingamajig you described, but R.O.'s vehicle is not equipped with such a modern anti-theft system as it is a 1987 Buick Regal. My anti-theft device begins and ends at a steering column lock as my vehicle has a 'peeled' column (ask a district dinosaur what that is, Hairgel) after it was stolen and recovered...twice.

You see, the high cost of living in this Hellhole called Chicago, along with the likelihood of having a nice vehicle stolen, damaged by our shitty roads or totaled while driving through the ghetto to and from work by a drunken, uninsured sanctuary city 'resident' has made me think twice about buying a car with those fancy accessories.

Therefore, R.O. will do what he's always done when he's heard things go bump in the night in the past. That being grabbing the .45 or shotgun - whichever is closest at the time - and handling the business at hand.

That being said, my parents and all the other seniors at their group home really dug your suggestion, though. They debated it hotly in the common room after a Matlock Marathon earlier today just before their 10 A.M. nap.

I also have 5 more years until 20 but won't have the age to go so I guess I'll stick around for a little longer. I have to disagree with you about the G8 summit, the guys in 1968 had a helmet. We have helmets, vests, turtle gear, and at least some sort of training and we won't be totally alone. The big difference I think will be the footage. In 1968 most if not all the footage was newsreels, now everyone has a camera and everyone will be filming. If it breaks down into a riot, then it does and we will have to do what we have to do. I certainly won't be happy about getting hit with a bag of "crap" but I would be even less happy if the city who put us in the position we will be in decides to fire us for taking action. 5 more years buddy.

20 and out. Can't remember how many times I said that. Unfortunately your children get more and more expensive as time goes on. High school and college tuition is out of control. There's not a huge market for retired policemen unless you plan on working security jobs. Main reasons 20 and out doesn't work: having children after age 30: divorce, wife doesn't have a great job, you not having another career/business lined up. Try living on 60% of your salary (take home) and then take out another $700 - $900 per month for Health Insurance for you and your family. The way to survive for 15 more years on the job is by believing that you'll be done in 5 years. Then you get to 20 years of service, and you have too many bills and maybe a better work situation than 5 years ago, so you tell yourself two or three more years and your gone. Do that three times and the next thing you know, you’ve got 29 and a day, full pension, full benefits, and life is good. I could never figure out how retired guys would say: “The job flew by, it all seemed so fast, the kids are grown and gone, etc”. My reply when I had 15 years on: “could you please tell me if it goes by so fast, whats’s taken so mother fucking long?” Now I look back and it seems like it still took a long fucking time, but it’s worth the wait boys and girls. Hang in there. 31 and done.

They Are Too Expensive Too Maintain. Note To Mayor Daley. The Fences Are Rusting Away. Your Friends Used Cheap Stock Metal. They Overdid The Cement Footings. They Have A Large Amount Of Cement To Hold Up A Cheap Metal Fence. Question; Why Did We Need The Fences In The First Place ?
The CTA Enclosures Block The Sidewalks In Many Locations. They Force Baby Buggy's Out In The Street, In Many Locations. They Have No Drainage. When The Snow Melts On Top, The Water Forms Ice Around Them. In Makes Them Too Dangerous To Use In Winter Months.

1/06/2012 07:53:00 AM

Maybe you don't file state income tax in Illinois, but the increase in sales tax is because they now include a line for an 'estimated' amount of sales tax you didn't pay.
i.e. Either pay our 'estimated amount' or we will audit you and see how much you charged on your Visa card and PayPal account that you didn't pay Illinois tax on.

And THAT is why sales tax revenue is up.

Morning of the 4th! P/O from 007 blew a .09! Was drinking until 2300 the night before, and the early roll-call was his demise. If you lads have any sense at all, and you are out drinking the night before you have to work, you'll call and take 8 hours. Better to lose your time than your job!

Just like to give an update on the status of L. Viper The Hammer S, who as most of you all know was rushed to the hospital today. LS, the modern day version of SGT Hulka, the Big Toe of 189, is resting comfortably at home.

Earlier, when it was touch and go, and things appeared grim, our prayers were answered when a blast from the past, a distant voice shouted out "Damn Dawg, it's 1130PM and you steady playing"...and The Hammer's blood pressure began to rise.

Sitting in the hospital gurney, surrounded by the troops, and wearing the tightest 3XL hospital gown known to man, LS opened his eyes, awoke from his coma and stated "I saw Tebow...and he plays rugby". A welcome sight, and for the believers a well known fact, that Tebow does heal and that the New York Football Giants are not that good. These were two clear indicators that Viper was no longer walking with the angels.

As day became duck, then dusk became night, it turned out to be a great day, with a "Save Viper" sign posted on the jumbo-tron at the UC tonight before the Hawks went out, and played with heavy hearts, knowing "Our Guy" was recovering and resting at home and not at the ice to cheer the lads on. The burden and the stress from the ordeal of the day directly contributed to the lack luster performance but the boys will get em on Sunday when The Hammer leads them from the honorary captain spot. And the new york Hockey rangers stink too...bunch of rugby players!

Get well L. Viper S.

Regarding the release of ICE detainees, you ask why the media isn't reporting on this.

oboma is a socialist/marxist/communist...he's following the communist rules of the road to destroy America and the Constitution by ignoring our country's laws...read all about it in socialist Saul Alinsky's book Rules for Radicals and recognize oboma as the enemy in the White House that he is. All mainstream media, EXCLUDING all conservative media sources, WILL NOT report the news to you unless allowed to do so by their boss oboma. oboma is trashing our laws, our Constitution, and he has become more bold and open about the fact that he IS a socialist/marxist/communist.

I read about the ICE issue in www.freerepublic.com a week or two ago. You can also read all the news that the mainstream aholes won't print in www.theblaze.com, and www.drudgereport.com, to name a few.

oboma MUST be removed from office in the November election. IF he is not removed, our Constitution, our freedom and liberty will be destroyed and the evils like a oboma or rahm emanuel will continue to make our lives a living hell.

Elect a conservative or a Republican, ANYONE except oboma, or else you can say good-by to all that you have known and loved about the United States of America, and to your life and liberty and that of your family.

Especially when the order reads black gloves for Lewis funeral. This summer is was about wearing a long sleeve shirt in the summer. Long sleeved shirt is allowed year around as long as it is worn with a tie, which it was.
Just saying, find something else to whine about

If white shirts want to hide behind the new uniform or inspections order, then it follows that they could just as easily hide behind the existing ones. The order is not the issue.

The point is, when you pursue someone for the dreds, the nail stencils, the beads, the green streak in the hair, the chunky 'diamond' earring, the stained and frayed shirt or pants, someone will put their foot on your neck.

The day I went after a guy for dreds, our boss told me he was not to be disciplined, as he's 'one of my guys'. And what am I supposed to do about that? Fight my immediate supervisor over some goof's hair?

'Fair' is more fair for SOME people, and not so fair for others. Until this organization develops some professionalism and imposes discipline in a fair and unbiased manner, this b.s. will continue.

In other words, nothing will ever change.

If white shirts want to hide behind the new uniform or inspections order, then it follows that they could just as easily hide behind the existing ones. The order is not the issue.

(Not so. Looking the other way has become so pervasive, a new order was needed to give the white-shirts an excuse for no longer looking the other way, because without the excuse, they will enmasse just keep looking the other way forever.)

The point is, when you pursue someone for the dreds, the nail stencils, the beads, the green streak in the hair, the chunky 'diamond' earring, the stained and frayed shirt or pants, someone will put their foot on your neck.

(Sure will, when you let them and when they know you will buckle under. And, why do you have to pursue your subordinates? It seems you have this supervisor thing backwards in your head.)

The day I went after a guy for dreds, our boss told me he was not to be disciplined, as he's 'one of my guys'. And what am I supposed to do about that? Fight my immediate supervisor over some goof's hair?

(Fucking right, Sally. Politely and respectfully ask for their "protective order" on paper so you can present it to Cynthia White when she writes you up for not having the balls to correct the errant behavior of your subordinate. And if you fear the one bar/two bar will not like you, here's a news flash, they already do not like you, otherwise they would not have embarassed you like they did.)

'Fair' is more fair for SOME people, and not so fair for others. Until this organization develops some professionalism and imposes discipline in a fair and unbiased manner, this b.s. will continue.

(My God, have some balls and pride. I give a fuck about that jagoff wearing the bar/bars. If their stand-down order is not on paper, my shit will be. Unless you are owing to them or are afraid of them, for cripes sake, stand tall!)

In other words, nothing will ever change.

(It appears you are right because you are another one taking a paycheck under false pretenses, but the least you can do is use it to buy a backbone.)

In the 70's and 80's I loved going to Chicago, but today I would much rather stay alive. Sorry to depress your economy any more, but you really should press for more cops. (See early New England history and "press" for what should be done to Chicago politicians.)

======================================================================

Just to let you know, you pompous, arrogant fuck:

You acted in your own self-interest when you thwarted your wife's plan. She might find a man with a spine in Chicago and leave your pansy ass. You'd be crying for months.

But, on the contrary, it does seem like you just might be a badass! Your apology for further depressing our economy was the act of a total brute. We will truly miss your estimated 2K because it would have straightened out our finances, for sure. NOT! I have a newsflash for you. You are a real idiot to even think about bypassing the internet, or your hometown stores, and consider traveling here to pay bleeding nose/squeeze-your-balls prices and taxes in this backward state, county and city. We don't even shop here on principle, so thanks for the assistance by doing the same.

And, your advice about pressing for more cops was a true revelation. It has never before been mentioned on the SCC blog until your post. Again, NOT! You are a total tool! Did you bother to read any previous threads and posts? You would have found scads of requests, demands and pleadings for more manpower.

Also, a big BTW right back at you, but liberals are the problem. They just happen to be crooks, also. Their liberalism, criminal acts of thievery and incompetence, are the problem. And, no, I did not vote for any of them.

You put your fingers in gear and tapped the keyboard without thinking or doing any research, which displays your mental deficiency. Take your own advice. You should make those corrections before commenting on the big people's blog, you pompous, arrogant and foolish person.

You should be glad you did not stray from your lofty perch located in Foolish, Podunk, USA. You wouldn't make it here.
