Wait...Rahm Lied? Again?
This is hilarious, the mayor lying to the aldercreatures. And the aldercreatures are surprised about it:
Chicago Public libraries will close all day Mondays — instead of Monday and Friday mornings as promised — stunning and infuriating aldermen who thought they had an agreement with Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
“That’s not what was proposed or voted on. It’s completely contrary. We need to sit down quickly and get back to the original agreement, which was keep those libraries open” every day, said Ald. Scott Waguespack (32nd), who led the charge against the library cuts.
The mayor’s plan to reduce library hours and impose draconian job cuts that would impact library services at all hours fast emerged as the most controversial element of the mayor’s 2012 budget.
We're still convinced this is a feint of some sort. Get everyone all up in arms over library cuts, and then he's going to back door something really big. And the aldercreatures, who were so good at rolling over to get their bellies rubbed by Shortshanks, are going to bring their own lube to Rahm's "that's-not-my-belly!" rub.

A lot of us, asshole. I get tons of books there for my kids and myself. I'm sorry that you're illiterate, but some of us, you know, enjoy reading, and since our money is down, we can't afford to go buy every book we want to read on amazon.

Years ago,I tried to donate a few boxes of books to the Mayfair library. I wanted nothing but a good home for them. The staff turned me away! The best part of it was there were empty bookshelves in there. Typical Chicago bs. It's not really a library, it's a patronage hiding spot
Rahm, better idea, let's extend the school day to a nine hour day! We can have the teachers and police baby sit,wash, feed,and dress the children too! You want somewhere for them to go you have to give them a chance rahmmy!

I and lots of my neighbors and their kids regularly use the Clearing Branch. But that is because we can read.
And I guess you think the folks in the 8th District Satellite Office in the Clearing Branch are 'homeless and the perverts who spank at the computers' as are the beat cars that stop there? I'll be sure to pass that on to them.
Have your mommy drop you at a library some time, not all the books have been colored yet, but you will have to bring your own crayola's.
Have the XOs staff the libraries. They are doing absolutely nothing now in the CPD.

In the near future when you have to count on some of these kids to have living wage jobs in order to generate the tax money to fund your healthcare and your pensions it may not be so funny anymore.
You may be asking why didn't they at least get their GED to enable that. Jackazz's.
We saved $3 million dollars and where did the money go? Not in your pocket. It went to the CME, Sears, Motorola Mobility, Ford as part of the hundreds of millions of dollars in tax breaks.
We couldn't possible ask these corporations to chip-in and give a lousy $3 million dollars back so our kids may have the opportunity to create a better future for themselves. Ralm certainly doesn't have the balls to them "it's necessary".
Don't you just love how we use this crisis to vilify the unions? Oh those stubborn greedy unions..you just can't talk to those people. Don't they know the king has spoken and said this is "necessary"?
The corporate media propaganda machines just go right along with the agenda. Not one of them asking the question why we gave HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars in tax breaks to corporations when we knew the money would come from our children's libraries.
You mean to tell me that we couldn't of went to these guys and said look...ya know that $150 million tax break we gave you? We're taking $3 million back. It's necessary.
We're looking at a puppet government run by the corporations.
Like Detroit. Detroit gave corporations an 86% tax cut and raised individual income tax an avg $600 increase. Then hired about six goons all making six-figure salaries who's jobs it was to fire elected officials such as mayors. You call that a democracy? It's a government that is bought and paid for.
If all that goes to the library are the homeless and perverts as some have suggested here. Then I propose that we move all the books to the police stations where everything can be kept in one place.
We should give the alderman a lil' desk and chair and move all their ward people to work within the library buildings too. It's necessary.
And why do police and fire need all these separate buildings? Combined them all.
Since there are so many EMS calls that require CPD to ride on anyways just combine these people in one building and when an ambulance rolls the cop is right there to roll with them. Look at all that gas money you can save?

Who? Those of us who read, douchebag. And our children. I was at the library with my two year old today. I am on the job and I certainly can't afford to buy every book I or my child wants to read. My father was on the job and he certainly couldn't afford to buy every book I wanted to read. Also they offer not just access to the internet, but access to online journals that you csn access there, or often from home. These journals require an expensive subscription that the vast majority of people can't afford. If this blog and wikipedia are your only sources of info, then yes you'll be fine, but some of us actually read books. So in closing, go fuck yourself.
You are lying to yourselves if you, even for a moment that ANY politicians is for us or the "people". They are out for themselves and no one else. End of story! They are ALL self-serving SOB's and that is putting it lightly. They use the military and police for their pawns and then throw the tax payers to the wolves for their gain. Actually, I was responding to the poster who suggested closing ALL the libraries. Thats why his post was included in quotes.
