Bankers' Hours
- Detroit, which has one of the highest crime rates of large American cities, plans to close its police stations to the public for 16 hours a day -- including the critical overnight hours -- as the cash-strapped city struggles to slash costs.
Public-facing desks at the eight stations that represent the eight precincts or districts of the Detroit Police Department will be closed at 4 p.m. every day and reopen the next morning at 8 a.m. starting on Monday. It means residents could have a harder time immediately finding face-to-face help from the police during key hours of the day.
The moves are expected to lead to "virtual precincts" as the police department plans to redeploy desk-bound officers to more time on the streets during the affected hours.
Hey, we've already got POD cameras acting as "virtual police officers." "Virtual precincts" actually fits right in with the "less is more" concept.

Don't worry. The alderman is armed and ready to deploy his private police to help you.
It's all good.
I thought Chicago was fucked up. However, I am sure the asinine politicians here will probably start doing the same thing in Chicago.
Hey you liberal citizens of Chicago, you are getting the city you dreamed of!!! Make sure your life insurance is paid up. You might be needing it. Otherwise, get a gun to protect yourself.
SCC did u see the proposed realignment of districts and how there re-numbering 024 & 025.. 025 becomes 013, while 024 becomes 21... WTF.. Guess who's gonna be making money?? Uniform stores.. Time for new designators It's $10 a pop..
This makes sence,
SCC, This announcement can only mean one thing:
Robocop™ is on the way.

What does 10 years get you? Seriously? I know at 20 years you get 50%, so at 10 do you get 25% or something? From what i understand 10 years doesn't mean shit. You mine as well have 3.
Lol...
OK... We'll bite...
"Pop poppity pop pop! AHHHH! DEY TRYIN' TO KILL MEEE!"
*Frantic tugging on station door only to realize the sign reading "Sorry Jackson! This heah muthafuckah is CLOSED! Rahm Runnit up in dis raggedy muthafuckah!"*
"NOBODY UP IN DIS BITCH? DAMN Y'ALL BOGUS!"
Runs to Fire House up the street...
Sign on the door... *Didn't we just tell yo stupid ass we closed? Rahm Still Runnit! Just ask him!*
"Y'ALL BITCHES RACIST!"
It's coming... It's coming soon...
Detroit realizes that the ghetto calls are usually BS anyway.
America
We should have computer terminals- like the self check-in airlines- have people write their own reports on AIRA
You have to love Detroit. Here is a town that is just about dead and they close the Police Stations when it gets dark. Don't doubt it will happen right here. The Racoon and his ilk will still have protection 24/7. So will all the connected politicians and suckholes with money. The rest of us can hide in our homes until it gets light out. Almost like hiding from Zombies and Vampires till day light. I could wish the Zombies would eat all these political self serving Bastards but I wouldn't want them to get sick.
O.T.
today i was listening to zone 4 when a call came out from the firehouse at illinois and dearborn...firefighter(s) saw someone getting robbed or at the very least there was a theft in progress across the street. what was messed up is that no one in 018 volunteered for the job. they had to assign a beat car from across the district to said job. wonder if 018 is sending a message to that firehouse...i wonder why????
The growing perception on the streets is that the NRA is right.
That is there is going to be no police -- corporations are taking away the tax funding to support them. Therefore it's everyman for themselves and may the lord help those that are unarmed.
Meanwhile...
It's funny too..remember Rahm's speech about matching education with the needs of the corporations and what is needed are welders?
Maybe everyone can get a welders job after the Chicago NATO riots of 2012 eh?
Ha.. get ready to throw you college degrees in the trash when they start the layoffs after the G8 is over.
When they don't need you / can't afford you anymore. You get to get back to school now.
Time to forget all about that we want tech-savy multi-lingual blah, blah, blah bullshit. We need welders damn it!
Ralm want to put you and your families on welfare food stamps with $18/hour welder jobs.
Anyways..Guess what?
The company Rahm was preaching about needing those 600 welders and mechanics? Well they were in the aviation industry.
And guess what else?
This just in: Boeing to close Wichita plant with 2160 jobs
----
Get it? Anyone that followed Rahms advice and took out a loan for community college to obtain the training of the 21st century that is needed better hurry. Hurry man, hurry. You're competing with the Wichita layoffs and chances are why should they hire you when they can get someone with experience? Better hurry and get there before Wichita shows up otherwise you just blew a few grand for nothing.
It's going to get much uglier.
This is yet another harbinger of what the CPD awaits. You can't close these impromptu homeless shelters! The powers-that-be have designated police lobbies as recognized warming centers.
Although it would be nice to come down to inform the W.C. that yet another savage needs to be RWOC'd thanks to the ineptitude that is counsel at the CCSAO without having to tap dance around the maze of homeless bastards emitting that plethora of contagious diseases.
Oh, wait. What was I thinking?! I'm the one that needs to be moved under the auspices of 'departmental streamlining' and 'fiscal renaissance'. Those bums that don't have it currently will soon have more seniority in 011/A4 than most coppers that work here. Ironically, but not unbelievably, most are smarter than our current crop of Bossholes, but then again this shouldn't come as a shock to anybody that's been around for awhile.
Maybe the administration can push these pissbums through a quick 8 hour class to teach them how to run the desk...kinda like they did to the Sergeants* to teach them how to be Lieutenants and Captains without the extra dough.
* Sergeants take note for your grievances: newly promoted Lieutenants have WEEKS of schooling prior to being dumped into districts. How can you newly acquired 'Station Managers' be expected to perform all those additional duties without the proper training ???
CPD 12 hour shifts for the may summits
12 hour shifts for G8??? FUCK YOU McCarthy and Rham... What the fuck does the union do about this???
Here is Detroit.

here's another money saving tactic:
Stuff a pile of shit into a expensive suits and
call them mayor & city council.
Call the computer that will handle the new "virtual" positions BSC (bull shit co-ordinator).
They don't get a salary or compensation. They must figure out how to steal virtual money.
just what we need, to look more like detroit. not setting the bar too high??
Is the Rahm meister advising Detroit as part of his plan to be the next president of the US
Well, our Department already has online case repoting at the CPD's website:
https://portal.chicagopolice.org/portal/page/portal/ClearPath/Online%20Reporting
Who needs a station desk when the victim can make a case report online. Don't be surprised if they start installing kiosks in police station lobbies someday. Ah, ain't technology wonderful.
get those "desk bound" coppers out there - they are the elite

anyone catch the bulletin today? Bottom left hand corner reminding officers about the use of social media watch out scc. Big brother
Some years ago, I (not a cop) was in Detroit on business. We parked, downtown, in a secure lot. When we left the car, the armed security guard told us to be careful as there had been a lot of armed robberies in the area lately. We told him we weren't staying past five o-clock. He started laughing and told us the stick-ups happened that morning.
Detroit is MY kind of town!!!
That is there is going to be no police -- corporations are taking away the tax funding to support them.
occupy a clue.
"corporations" don't take away tax funding....
liberal-socialist politiicans do....
and where do you think they get their kitties? from all those nasty "corporations" all you occupiers hate.
I've never understood the ignorance and stupidity demonstrated by those of you that don't have enough sense not to shit where you eat.
................................... "That is there is going to be no police -- corporations are taking away the tax funding to support them." I am shure the NRA didnt say this, who ever did has there head up there ass
At least in Detroit you're legally allowed to carry a firearm at all times to protect yourself(well, except convicted felons, but they don't care about the law anyway).
Also, Detroit proper is down to like 700,000 residents, tops, and a significant percentage of them are below the poverty line, so it's not like the affluent & middle class (you know, people who count) are affected by this.
I grew up in suburban Detroit & worked downtown until moving here a few years back, and I must say, I always felt far more secure in that city than I do in large parts of this one. Especially at night. At least in Detroit, we kept our ghetto thugs confined to certain areas. Here, it's like the city encourages them to take over the good parts of town, which is just asinine & backwards.
Wasn't Robocop from Detroit?? The original virtual police. I'd buy that for a Dollar!!
O.T.

So you just happened to be listening to zone4 when some citizen across from firehouse was getting robbed? Did you at least put the p*nis pump down before you put on the loafers and responded post-haste?
Guess who's gonna be making money?? Uniform stores.. Time for new designators It's $10 a pop..

Per FOP / PBPA Contract...
CITY pays for the first issue.
This makes sence,
1/05/2012 12:35:00 AM
Yes, because then the officers will be able to study English and someday get their GED.
You mine as well have 3.
1/05/2012 12:51:00 AM
So are you suggesting the guy quit at ten years and go work in a mine? Am I missing something?
The City of Champaign ( where your sons and daughters go to school) will be closing its front desk effective 01 18 12 from 7pm-7am. At the same time, the City council is doing a 100k survey to find out if CPD officer are OC spraying too many folks.
Well, Detroit's been a virtual city for a while, so this makes sense.
Drunkard Otis Campbell would jail himself, maybe Chicago citizens can learn a lesson from Mayberry. Leave a lock up key on a hook.
On-line reports are already available...Detectives aren't.
Absent from the newspapers for the new year is the line, "area detectives are investigating".
When the freeloaders in Call Back get forced out, they'll be able to close the building for 16 hrs., no reports = no crime. But it seems the Office of News Affairs is well staffed... around the clock too.
I suggest we keep desk open on 1st watch , we have to baby sit homeless . Let citizens see their tax dollar at work .
More officers on the street 2nd and 3rd watch . No need for station supervisor on 2nd and 3rd watch .

I'm sure it hasn't changed since I was there in the early 90's on 1st watch. Those firemen in that house are punks. Not starting a CPD/CFD thing; we both have goofs on the job. Personal experience with that house explains it all. Like the time we had to escort the CFD LT's mistress of the drive way of the house after the hero firemen called her in twice as a suspicious person! Anyway I think it also shows what the hairgels have done to a great district. Be safe and watch each others backs
many suburban police stations are closed at night--- many other municipalities have a website where you can go online and report something and you get a call the next day for the official report--- since chicago police stations are piss bum warming centers, the doors will stay open....
I wonder why the governments never consider cutting welfare benefits to the second and third generation recipients instead of cutting police and fire service. Think of how much money would be saved just by requiring these folks to pass a drug test before they get their benefits, or place a cap on how many illegitimate children a woman can have before the government says "enough."
12 hour shifts for G8??? FUCK YOU McCarthy and Rham... What the fuck does the union do about this???
1/05/2012 02:15:00 AM
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Damn you lazy prick, do the job you applied for and make sure to check the money box like the rest of us. I do believe g8 can turn out really bad, but I can also really use the money. If you don't like the cpd, then you can always quit. The only thing I want to see the union fight is to make sure we get double time for cancelled rdo's. Show me the money sampson.

get those "desk bound" coppers out there - they are the elite
1/05/2012 05:34:00 AM
Yeah, they're probably the one percent, too. Go away and 'occupy' under some bridge, troll.
The alderman of this city won't be happy until we are in the same spot. They all voted for the parking meter too.........
12 hour shifts for G8??? FUCK YOU McCarthy and Rham... What the fuck does the union do about this???
1/05/2012 02:15:00 AM
They tell you to check the box on the right.
Awesome!
Can't wait to see this happen in Chicago!
Can you Imagine West and Soouth Side Districts closed to the jagoffs!
Aren't we already doing that with the consolidations? Look at the new District and Area maps on ICLEAR. We may as well close everything...if the Station Supervisor agrees.
Well, our Department already has online case repoting at the CPD's website:

And so, what about this makes it a police report if no police are involved?
Soooooo......we won't need detectives then either? Citizens to investigate their own crimes?
Just imagine--it'll all be-- 'Call your insurance company'.
This has FUBAR written all over it. Wow. Just Wow!
hey 02:15, Back when we had the absolutely typical Chicago tradition of posting a P.O. in every polling place on election days, (for elections that everyone knew the outcome), we worked 12 hours and loved it. Also some of the bulls riots, (didn't love those). As long as they pay you, FOP has nothing to do with it. Make sure to check the money box.
If stations are closed, there will be less police reports made because it's too much of a hassle.
Fewer reports = crime reduction
Doesn't mean crime is going down, it just means it's not getting reported.
Don't worry, Comp-post will save us all!
Www.detroitiscrap.com was such a good site. They got to him.
It could happen here.
Lets face most of the people who come inside the station are morons who do not have an emergency. Keeping desk staffed is just doing a favor for those officers who don't want to be on the street. They only tell the citizen to go back home and call 911 for a beat car to do the report. I am in favor for what Detroit is doing.
As you all know reports can be generated via city of Chicago website but I believe that it will be a complete waste of money just like our pod cameras complete waste, but since someone's pockets are getting heavier the city will make everyone believe that this program works and cameras deter crime, they don't.
In this article Ald. Moreno hints that 013 will become a "community center with a police presence."
What? Huh? Are they gonna stick a couple of dogasses in there every shift to deal with the public who come in to make accident reports?
Sorry. Here is the article: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-chicago-ward-comitteeman-20120105,0,4891237,full.story
detroit also has dispatchers... very similar to the ones we have... we sure do have a lot of things in common. wonder where our city will be in 20 years...
This makes sence,
1/05/2012 12:35:00 AM
Yes, because then the officers will be able to study English and someday get their GED.
1/05/2012 09:50:00 AM
Original poster doesn't sound like the police. Maybe it's a civilian in need of that GED?
Don't kid yourself that only police are posting on this police blog, anymore.
Hey, this is good.
Did you notice the anti-coal-fired power plant posters showing the sick kid -- the big expensive four-color process jobs -- on the sides of all the city bus shelters? Who paid for those?
Now that the federal legislation has come into effect, State Line Generating in Indiana is already down, and we will lose Crawford and our other coal plant here, as well as close to 40 others nationwide, and this just for starters. Go out on a clear summer day, perfect blue sky, and all you can see is a thin tannish plume off those stacks, run as clean and professional as it comes. Those are SKILLED ENGINEERS in there who want to SAVE MONEY and keep the EPA away from the door. Only thing cleaner is no burn at all.
Time to dump your BNSF and NS and other railroad stocks -- they won't know where to put all the thousands of empty hugh-capacity modern aluminum coal hoppers they've been using to feed Com Ed.
A lot of sidetrack space is already full of empty, unneeded "spine cars" that haul containers -- look at the string of them along the Eisenhower from Austin Avenue all the way past Harlem in Forest Park, been there at least two years...go look at the empty containers themselves stacked to the skies, one spot is in Forest View just west of Mt. Auburn cemetery between there and the Canal.
You are gonna see this reflected in your electric bill in a BIG way -- and now the trucks are starting to roll on "Smart Grid," which will also cost a fortune - you are going to have a "TALKING ELECTRIC METER" in your house to tell you exactly how much you're paying for power every minute.
First the rates will about double, and then this thing will save you maybe $10.00 per month off that.
I'm nonplussed.
Maaybe the city can train the homeless folks to run the stations at night. Now there is an idea. No pay, no benefits, and no liability. Just give the poor homeless all the baloney sandwiches they can eat and 3 bottles of Night Train wine every night.

Dont worry. There will be a super cop like you assigned there to show the rest of us how its done.
03:54 forgot, it was from 6AM to 7PM and you also had to stay until all the ballots were counted, and it there were any paper ballots for judges, etc, ran alot longer, 15 to 18 hours and now po's worry about clean washrooms and where to get the food. Get a polling place in the ghetto with no washroom and no restaurants around Oh, the good ole days
"We should have computer terminals- like the self check-in airlines- have people write their own reports on AIRA"
Between computers and smart phones, there's no reason people can't complete a fill in the blanks report and write their own narrative.
You might be on to something here...
"12 hour shifts for G8??? FUCK YOU McCarthy and Rham... What the fuck does the union do about this???"
Did you call the FOP to find out or were you just "thinking" out loud?
"And so, what about this makes it a police report if no police are involved?"
It says "Chicago Police Department" right at the top of the form. Voila! a "Police Report!"
"Soooooo......we won't need detectives then either? Citizens to investigate their own crimes?"
Everybody seems to know how to do my job better than I do, so what's the problem? Are you REALLY worried about your "job security?"
"Just imagine--it'll all be-- 'Call your insurance company'."
That's pretty much why we make case reports on property crimes now, so what's the change here?
FUBAR? Welcome to Chicago, kid.
"In this article Ald. Moreno hints that 013 will become a 'community center with a police presence.'
What? Huh? Are they gonna stick a couple of dogasses in there every shift to deal with the public who come in to make accident reports?"
The issue is an (imaginary) "police presence" so, yes. Duh.
Fuck Detroit.
Stay united here in CHICAGO!
The enemy is that FUCKING PRICK RACOON EYES.
do NOT let him divide us!
