As police questioned three suspects in the killing of Officer Clifton Lewis, the slain officer was eulogized Thursday morning as a good man and good cop who died far too young.

And his fiancée had a message for whoever pulled the trigger.

“For today and every other day ... the person who was trifling enough and ornery enough to take that person that everyone loved ... It’s not over. It’s not over,” said Latrice Tucker at her fiance’s funeral on the West Side.

After the service, Police Supt. Garry McCarthy had his own message regarding the gunmen.

“We’re going to get ‘em. Make no mistake.”

When asked if he had evidence to back the claim, McCarthy said, “I have 13,000 Chicago police.”

And just where are these 13000 cops at?

That asshole McCarthy used Clifton's funeral as a sound board to tow the company line/mantra regarding the continuing charade regarding manpower numbers. When asked about apprehending Cliff's murderers by a channel 9 reporter, McCarthy responded:

"Oh, I'm gonna get him". (YOU are gonna get him?)

He then realized his fuck-up and tried to backpedal, saying "make no mistake, we are..." (cut off by another reporter who asks; "sir, do you have evidence to back that up?").

McCarthy's response: "I have 13,000 Chicago Police Department to back that up".

Yet another prime example of why this goof is nothing more than a politician with the top CPD button in his wallet. Little more than a disgusting Freudian slip of his inflated sense of self-worth while carrying the Tiny Dancers balls. And an outright pathetic display while in attendance of services for a fallen brother.

Nice to see you in attendance, Mr. Stoopidintendent. But maybe next time (which is hopefully never), how about you say something along the lines of "the department will respond to your inquires at a more appropriate time and forum". And save the bravado, ego and manufactured manpower stats for the next chick you're trying to impress around the Viagra Triangle.

1 out of 12,000...it's an acceptable loss.

Hell that's less than 1% of our mayors private army of mercenary soldiers.

Now, how does this impact our pension debt obligations and budget?

Well the Moratorium on Death Row inmates was instituted by George Ryan in a lame attempt to garner sympathy to keep him out of the Pokey. The wheels were in Motion to rescind the Death Penalty which in numerous studies has proven not to be a crime deterrent.

The death penalty is not a deterrent because it is not used enough. When it is used, it takes how many years for the sentence to be carried out? Of course it's not a deterrent in this country. If we used it like it's intended, then I firmly believe it would stop some. And if only some people are spared being murdered by someone, then it is worth it.

Deterrence is an argument used by the Anti-Death Penalty crowd. Policemen do not use or recognize that word in a legitimate discussion on the death penalty.

We could give a shit about deterrence. We are all about punishment and retribution. Barring some radiation hitting the planet and causing some world wide zombi-ism, I am almost positive that recidivism among persons executed is negligible.

Caesar Beccaria wrote in, "On Crimes and Punishments" that punishment should be swift and sure. The death penalty has been neither in this country.

the reason it doesn t deter is that it takes 20 plus years to finally kill these assholes.Singapore has one of the lowest crime rates because as soon as you do the crime they cane you in public, even for minor crimes.

The wheel were in motion but Quinn sure took the credit! How does one study the the Death Penalty and the deterence of crime. The history channel did a show on the New Orleans gangs which were moved to Texas and the laws were so harsh there the NO gangs moved back! I've been in a room with many a killer and and the words Death Penalty makes them shit all over themselves and whoever they were with! So my personal study reveals the opposite.

You are right, studies have shown that the death penalty does not deter crime in general. I do however see it as a crime preventor. That piece of human waste would not have the chance to get out on parole (which regularly hapens. you can't even try to argue it!) and kill someone else!

Yea but the murder offender will be dead. Not sitting around in prison on my tax dollars waiting for some bullshit appeal. Then later released (way too soon) because of some screaming libtards and jagbag judges he say the fuck is rehabilitated and sent back into society. Where I as well as you live, to commit murder again. Sorry sounds like a crime deterrent to me.
