So what does that mean? Here's one scenario:

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District controls the land; Thursday its board members agreed to lease the land to the city.
The range will open on property along the Calumet River in the 2000 block of E. 134th St.; critics wanted the land preserved as an open space for wildlife and recreation.
The range will be built with money seized during police drug raids.

I have 5 years on the job and can remember the good old days when we had a full force 13,000 coppers. I remember the days with 2 wagons up and a mission car. Now the department is more concerned with filling the tact teams with reverse seniority then staffing beat cars.

Question for you: how many retiring military personnel traditionally go into law enforcement? I know that many vets return to very few job prospects - is there a tendency to go into law enforcement? And, on that note, how often are new police hired, and how many people at any one time want to become police? I have read this blog long enough to know that it's probably more of a hiring issue than an issue of people wanting the job. Is that true?

Maybe you should not have skipped reading when you were in Kindergarten. On pg 34 he says that as of Dec 2011 the projection is for 12,580, which is probably close. When you take out Captains, Lieutenants and Sergeants along with Detectives and other D-2A's and FTO's and other D-2's, AND realize that he is giving a daily total, which has to account for the fraction that is Day Off, P Day, Furlo, Medical, etc. that number is pretty close. You have to read everything not only that which makes you appear to be correct. Dope!

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District controls the land; Thursday its board members agreed to lease the land to the city.
The range will open on property along the Calumet River in the 2000 block of E. 134th St.; critics wanted the land preserved as an open space for wildlife and recreation.
The range will be built with money seized during police drug raids.

Looks like the big meeting downtown didn't go very well.....seems the Capt.s can't believe that the city is going back on all the so called agreements that were made for the Capt.s to sign off on the XO deal.....hmmm mm the city not keeping it's word.....oh and there is no signed agreement not that one is needed, also the Tact Lt.s are done, their cars and blackberries are going to the new XO's.......and the Tact Lt.s are going to the watc tofill in as needed as the District Station Supervisor. Also the XO's are getting the offices used by the former WC's. The dept. Wants the. DSS to sit out at the desk where the desk Sgt. Used to sit.

Maybe you should not have skipped reading when you were in Kindergarten. On pg 34 he says that as of Dec 2011 the projection is for 12,580, which is probably close. When you take out Captains, Lieutenants and Sergeants along with Detectives and other D-2A's and FTO's and other D-2's, AND realize that he is giving a daily total, which has to account for the fraction that is Day Off, P Day, Furlo, Medical, etc. that number is pretty close. You have to read everything not only that which makes you appear to be correct. Dope!

Since there are hardly any units left all u have to do is call all the district and c what the manpower number is. Add all 25 dist together.Add another 130 for mass transit.Most district are down 100 p.o s from what they were in the 90 s.If u avg 225 in the district times 25 u get 5625.Add about 1000 more det. and 35th personel and u have close to 7600 w/out bosses.Do we really think we have over 4000 sgt. lt. and other bosses.BE real.Don t believe the numbers even if they say it s offical. We live the real numbers and see the real numbers.Remember the city has two sets of boooks..

To make the "13,000" comment was out of place at a fallen hero's memorial service. It was nothing more than posturing and grandstanding for his gain. He just showed what a self-centered classless ass he is.

Hopefully the end will be O'Neill's messed up reign as MLAS commander. How can you be the commander for a unit that is supposed to know the contract law and yet you make decisions that directly violate it. That man is costing the City big time with each violation he suggests implementing.
