CompStat Continues to Fail

With numbers like these, shouldn't the media be picking up on something?
  • A 15-year-old boy along with eight others were injured in separate shootings in less than eight hours across Chicago, police said.

What is this, March? Yes, the weather has been warm, but the regularly scheduled "spring offensive" that usually follows a long winter stint indoors has just been continuation of the fall battles that saw aggravated batteries and homicides rise during September, October, November and December.

Now we're looking at a March that will probably top 200 shootings by a wide margin and set a few records. CompStat isn't doing anything to stop shootings and we're getting all sorts of crazy info on these "violence zone" initiatives in 007 and 011 that we can't believe.

We have reached the top of a very steep hill where manpower is concerned and even a hiring wave like the early 1980s or mid 1990s would still put us half-a-year from adequate staffing. And that's half-a-year past the NATO summit, a possible Bulls celebration, another 400-plus retirements, and what looks like a bloody summer.

OT

I found a bunch of money to hire more police! Since we didn't spend it on potholes, salt and shoveling snow this year we should have a few millions laying around.

It should at least help with the next contract.

Anyone else want a drag of my special cigarette?

So sick of the City using the economic and budget crisis as an excuse not to hire. They've been crying no money since '09. The City just saved tons of money from the extra mild winter, just read that they only used half of the budgeted amount for salt and snow removal.

where's the 250 new hires the Mayor promised funded by TIF's?

HIRE more cops!

Truer words were never spoken. This year has the potential to be one of epic proportions. All of the gains that we have made over the past decade could be washed away in one fell swoop. We could be looking at 600+ homicides (that's what we call a murder around here Gar). We haven't seen numbers like that since '03. And what if it gets really bad, could we be looking at numbers like back in the '90s? 800+ homicides? It is totally in the realm of possibility. Honestly, I don't want to see that, and I am sure my fellow brothers and sisters feel the same. We are honorable men and women, professional and courageous. We do this for a reason. We may seem cold, callous and cynical, but we don't wish to see people getting killed around us, especially kids. Quite trying to re-invent the fucking wheel! Get back to basics, free up beat cars to patrol their beats, us rapids and incident cars to handle the in-progress shit, get tact back to being tact and hunting down the bad guys, get gangs focused on gangs and not just being a head hunter unit, use intelligence to actually collect, corellate and disseminate information, let detectives do thorough, complete investigations, and for the love of Christ, start promoting some competent, knowledgable, worthy LEADERS, not just a bunch of clouted political hacks, kiss-asses and aldercreatures famo. Then, and only then will you see the true potential and pride that this department is fully capable of. Garry, you are not the smartest man in the world of Law enforcement, and once you realize that and accept that your Con-stat is just a sham, you will finally be saved. Till then, enjoy the bloodbath, because there is nothing your little meeting is going to do to stem the flow of blood.

AUDIO ON!

Listen to the interchange between NYPD P.O. Adrian "Son" SCHOOLCRAFT and Brooklyn North Chief Michael Marino during the home invasion in which "CONstat" whistleblower Schoolcraft was hauled off against his will to the PSYCH ward at a Queens hospital for SIX (6) days. In NYPD lingo, an "EDP" is an Emotionally Disturbed Person and a "bus" is an ambulance. Click on:

SCHOOLCRAFT KIDNAPPING BY NYPD

I submit that if there is an "EDP" involved here, it certainly wasn't a lucid and rational Adrian Schoolcraft.

If you would like to hear the entire 30 minute audio and read $choolcraft's amended 61 page 42 USC 1983 federal First Amendment complaint, click HERE

Finally, in a newly released book, retired NYPD captain John Eterno and Eli Silverman expose CompStat as a FRAUD in which bosses are intimidated to "cook the books" on UCR Part I index crimes. Click HERE

NYPD retaliation against Schoolcraft was brought to light by alternative media's Village Voice award-winning reporter Graham RAYMAN.

I just got off the phone with Mr. Rayman. If Chicago media or CPD with verifiable information wish to contact him (he assures confidentiality), you may eMail him at
GRayman@VillageVoice.com He only asks that you enter the word "CHICAGO" as the first word in the subject line in order that he avoids spam

2 teens shot on way to school in West Englewood

By Deanese Williams-Harris Tribune reporter

9:13 a.m. CDT, March 14, 2012

Two teens on their way to school were shot this morning in a vacant lot in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

The boys, ages 15 and 16, were walking through the lot in the 6700 block of South Wood Street about 7:40 a.m. when two other teens approached, according to Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez. One of them pulled out a gun and opened fire, he said.

The 15-year-old was shot in the side and taken to Comer Children's Hospital, police said. The 16-year-old was hit in the thigh and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn. Fire officials said their conditions were stable

It will take OVER 6 months for the "adequate staffing" to even reach us. 6 months, and the FIRST 50 – 100 will hit the streets. If Howard “the Coward” gets things up and running the right way, we’ll get 100 – 150 out on the street every month. It’s going to take a lot longer than 6 months; it’s going to take a lot longer than a year, a year and a half to patch the manpower hole we have. Figure, at the minimum, 2 and a half years, and that’s not including the number that’s going to retire in that time.
That’s only IF we get the funding from Rahm. Speaking of funding, where’d all of that federal money for new recruits go to? You know, the $$ that j-fraud allegedly got for us…

This strategy for fighting crime is in serious trouble. I know when it comes down to it it a political game with the blue shirts caught in the middle. "Do more with less", is the theory. The only problem I have with this is the safety issue. If I call for help on a footchase (which I hardly ever do nowadays) I can expect a limited response because I know some of the assist cars are in the ZONE. WAKE UP 3510 S. MICHIGAN. Quit letting people who never worked the street in a high crime area tell you how the make this crap work. As you can see its not working. OH, IT'S NOT EVEN HOT YET!!!

Hire more police, support the workers, support pro-active policing, fuck with the dog asses that make us all look bag, continue cleaning up the gangster copper problem, fuck with the pattern weekend medical roll schmucks, show the working police that you have their back = solution - increased morale, more safe work environment, more teamwork, appreciation for a job well done flowing throughout the station, better partnership between officers and supervisors, streets are taken back and crime is reduced.

The academy under Howard is a shell now. Stripped of the experienced instructors. There are more seretaries (female) than actual trainers for the recruits. Howard has his protected crew in the front office otherwise everyone else are left to their own resources. I miss working with the recruits but life must go on.

Good morning 2nd City Cop,

I was wondering if anyone had any concrete numbers regarding hiring vs attrition, I am currently doing a graduate paper regarding Chicago Police hiring. I am not a CPD. I don't think that should matter, I am addressing an issue regarding your safety. I would rather not have to deal with any BS comments. Can someone lead me to a site, documentation, the CPD Website has the numbers from 2010 on there only.
Thanks

Good Luck, pick a date, a First of a recent month, try filing a carefully worded Freedom of Information Act Request.

Ask for the total number of sworn officers, Probationary Police Officers, P.O.s, Field Training Officers, Detectives, Bomb Techs, Security Specialists, canine Officers, Sergeants, Lieutenants, Captains and Exempt Personnel.

I bet your request will be stalled or you get treated like some subversive spy.

But if you do get an answer, let see it please.

"I use to rush to work so I could be the 1st guy to grab someone and snowball the pinch into a warrant or controlled buy. Then the beefs came and the bosses did the back-off I wanna keep my gold shuffle"
The above is one of the reasons things are so bad. You cant turn a dog into a policeman but you can turn a policeman into a dog.

Back in the 90's when we had 800 murders we also had 13000 p/os. So even though more p/os would be a welcome site, the brass needs to address the problem at hand, morale. Its sad that we have gotten to such a state that we need to beg our officers to do their job. I guess years of the clout and chosen few getting ahead, the regular beat guy has had enough. Being a p/o used to be a career now its just a job.

Hiring 1000 p/os would be great, but remember it doesn't help our pension one bit. The new hires don't pay into our pension fund, kind of like the city hasn't for years.

Yes, I do understand I cant use a blog as a reference. Guy. I was asking if there was any documentation, not hearsay. The city won't release hiring/ attrition rates stats.

Just want to say good job to all of you! Your job is hard, and I don't envy you for a second. I teach in the Austin Community and have been noticing a lot of people flying colors; more so than usual. Red and Yellow mostly and I know the weather has a lot to do with it but I have been seeing a lot more activity than usual. Is there any info you have about this/what I can tell my students to keep them safe and out of the mess? Thanks.

Are you serious? Not joking. You are living in the most corrupt city, in the most corrupt county, within the most corrupt state in the country, (2 sitting governors in prison)

Do you actually think there are any real true statistics for you to use for your paper. LOLOL

Sorry to bust your bubble..

Walk into the FOP office and identify yourself and your intentions. Ask nicely if you can make an appointment to talk to someone about it. Then do so.

Walk into the PBPA office and do the same thing.

You might get some cooperation if you do it this way. Be prepared to prove who you are and what you're about.
