No Visits for You

Prisoners won't be getting their visits - or their deliveries of certain "items:"
  • Due to an outbreak of "influenza-like illness" at Cook County Jail, officials tonight said some visitation will not be allowed.

In an effort slow the spread of the sickness, staff of the Cermak Hospital has advised the sheriff's office to put all detainees in Division 1 on no-movement status and to ban visits there, according to a news release.

Detainees in Divisions 4 and 5 are on a limited movement status, which might affect visitations there, sheriff's officials said.
This is going to put a crimp in the prisoner underground economy and we're pretty sure the commissary is ill equipped to pick up the slack.

I can see it now.

Cook County lock-up gets declared a bio-hazard. Prisoners start dropping like fly's and the conspiracy theories start flying -- people start comparing it to Auschwitz.

Man-oh-man I hope they have a handle on it.

Then, go inquire under the recent topic about the new, unconstitutional, SOCIAL MEDIA general order.

SCC-retired will be the one posting anything that might be - uh - problematic, under that illegal order.

Nobody "has a handle" on anything in CCJ. There is constant sickness in that place -- the worst "jailhouse cold" you can possibly imagine, going through thousands of inmates.

Unless they are hooked up, people with 105 temp get no help from stupid/lazy/morbidly obese "medical attendants" who sit locked in their own safe, clean little room and talk and eat and laugh all day.

Oh, yeah -- and "inventory the medication."

Springtime can be worst, with temperatures varying betwen 30 degrees and 80 degrees, and windows that either don't open or are stuck open and mechanical ventilation that works/doesn't work.

Sewage running down walls, "bullpens" with no drinking water available, filthy blankets that have not been washed in years...

No "conspiracy theory." No theory at all. There it is, vomiting on the floor. Deal with it.

..and this is "accredited" by that "John Howard Association." Man, how much can that certificate be worth if this place can get it? Don't make me laugh.

This is the first instance I've heard of "no visits allowed." Maybe it's SARS this time (Chinese origin) or -- more likely in this town -- a Mexican "swine flu" variant that rode up here on El Conejo again. Remember all the blue face masks at the "no human being is illegal" marches a few years ago?

Nothing unusual. We still don't know how many people drowned in their cells in New Orleans during Katrina when the staff locked the jail up and ran away.

Same s__t.

Probably more AIDS and STDs floating around that jail than flu.

Minor compared to TB, flu and other non-contact respiratory stuff, and then hepatitis, meningitis, and MRSA.

Uh-oh.

Just heard the news flash.

Chicago's Department of Transportation says it's all hearsay with regard to NATO parade support. They've had no talks.
